Thread: A observation from a non-TKA
So me and my friend are walken round Eisly today when we see a group and start to talk, almost imedieatly this guy challnges my friend (a TKM) to a duel, he accepts, and they go at it. I was personally embarassed for him and got REALLY pissed off that the devs havent fixed this, the guy just kited my friend like no ones buisness, and when he didn finally get a hit in, he KD dizzied the guy but he was doing hardly any damage cause of the guys armor (only ST). Then my friend got incaped cause his enemy put a bleed on him. I asked him y he didnt use his VK and he said cause he would've incaped himself and i couldn't beleive how stupid it was.
-Y don't the devs give you guys a bleed, or lower the special move costs on VK, or better yet, increase your range!
Sorry if i offended anyone, but it REALLY pissed me off
Your friend is a poor pvper. Sorry.
I'm not one to gloat, I'm really not, but unless it was a bounty hunter spamming dizzy and knockdown, he really shouldn't lose so easily. If anyone kites me, in a duel at least, do one of two things:
a) cancel the duel because there is no skill in holding "back" and fireing or
2) run into a building and make them come inside for a nice head bashing.

You miss the point entirely. Yes you can end a duel, but what about faction fights or missions with ST's that run and use bleed? Canceling doesn't work in those situations.
Nothing in the TKM arsenal has the ability to incapacitate after the fight is over unlike bleed and burn. I have had many PVP fights several in rooms as you suggest, such as the cantina in Anchorhead, guess what, I still get kited. Sometimes I am down before I can macro my end duel key.
Melee classes need either the ability to slow down their opponent or be a step faster running (which makes some sense because marksmen should have to take a moment to target)
It is insane that marksmen can be as deadly with a weapon while running bacwards as they can while kneeling. The body mechanics of running and the fine motor skills of firing a weapon are mutually exclusive.
In the profession description of TKM a statement to the effect of the most feared class" is a joke the only fear we instill is the fear that our opponents will laugh themselves to death.
Finally, the statement about a person's ability to PVP is gloating it does nothing to address the inequalities rather it infers that there is balance and we both know that is not the case.
I agree but in cities its not that hard, its a TEF in an open field that sucks. There you look for a rock or a tree to make them lose target and then its only a matter of time. We do need some type of (JEDI LOL) speed burst to catch kiters but in cities its reallynot that hard to at least put up a good fight
how do you make someone bleed with your barehands?
You want a bleed try one of the other brawler professions. My self? I don't need bleed, kd/dizzy, and if it looks like i'll be there awhile, then just put vk on and apply dizzy every once in awhile. If a pool is low, target that pool. Tka is bout upfront damage, on TC we will get new abilities to auto dodge attacks, and we got another damage upgrade the other day. All they need to do is fix "out of range" and we will be near jedi greatness. Then we will be nerfed.

I've been hit in the nose and I started bleeding.
Now I probably would never lose enough blood to make me pass out from a nose bleed, but when I saw my own blood I almost fainted

Actually, he's got it right, your friend is a poor PvP'er. Having the title of Teras Kasi master isn't that terribly hard. BEING one is. Your friend is obviously not good at it. If he accepted a duel in a situation where he could have been kited versus someone that would probably kite him...he deserved every embarassing moment. It was his fault, not the class. Your friend needs to find a TKM on his server that actually has some success and ask advice and for training. You aboslutley cannot expect the game to make up for your poor decisions. You are a players, not a passenger along for the ride.

If you are gonna duel, have the hotkey for unarmed lunge1 ready (lunge2 if you are also master brawler). This has a range of 15m and can put them into kneel stance. From here hit the knockdown dizzy combo and you should be set. I haven't had the chance to actually try this yet, but it seems as though it would work?
Thats the way I have to deal with kiting npc's as well.
Some times you have to try and cut them off by taking a different route and anticipating where they are heading.
It is not as simple as a ranged user can just shoot you, you have to get them into range and then keep them there..
Will you get beaten a lot, probably unless you can get close enough to keep them from kiting you.
As TKA you have to use common sense and tactics, there is just no easy hit and run tactics available to you.
TKA alone is the worst pvp class you could possibly choose. ever.
Any decent pvper will just kite you to death. One person said to cancel a duel if he starts kiting? You, sir, are a **edit**. He's just supposed to sit there and let you whack him?
If you're going to pvp use TKA as an addition to a ranged class. TKA gives wonderful defenses and meditation is nothing short of amazing. The attacks leave something something to be desired. What's UH3 do? 2000 damage? A person wearing 66% composite armor is going to feel your tickle and laugh.
I have never been beaten by a TKA for two reasons. One, I am TKA (with 242 dmg vks) and I also have ranged attacks. If you're going to run at me like an idiot trying to unarmed lunge me (LOL) fine, i'll let you unarmed lunge me. Then i'll low blow/panic shot get up and UH3 you to death. Or just sit there and last ditch you twice for the incap. God you should see the damage I do with a LP/low blow.
Conclusion. Pure brawler < Any ranged attacker. Brawler + Ranged > Any ranged attacker.
