"**edit** off an stop whinin"....

Who the the hell are you? "im actually a smug/pistoleer (both mastered soonish)))." This guy is giving me PVP advice."Go work on your pvp tactics (remember spammin doesnt count) ". Ah smuggler, probably the most spammed profession, let me guess, PANICSHOT, LOWBLOW, LASTDITCH, LASTDITCH, LASTDITCH...ECT. Thanks for the advice. "An if you think spamming specials is a tactic its no wonder yer gettin yer ass handed to you in pvp (im guessin yer losin alot because those who are winning tend not to scream nerf at everyone). "

"An goin on about "yet another example of tk arrogance" just means youve run outa reasons an are makin a last pathetic attempt to justify your claim. Go get a real argument." Ok for those of you who showed up late, My arguement is... That the meditate line is way too much skill for the amount of skill points you pay. I feel that the skills in the meditate tree are powerfull and in no way reflect the cost associated with them, but when serving this argument I seem to get flamed and people say this skill is not of any importance."a bonus of 500 to your PRIMARY stats in this game means jack **edit**. Youll go through that in seconds usin specials." Sounds like you are spammin specials. Now seriously, 500 extra HAM is powerfull and any one who is saying that it isnt, is lying to me and themselves.

I PVP and group with tka on aregular basisand with this regularity I notice these advantages. As far as beating TKA in combat it is not impossible, and TKA is fine combat wise. They have have disadvantages that can be exploited and used to beat them, but my argument is not that combat with TKA is broken. The argument is that the meditate skills give TKA a large advantage , these advantages are wound healing, stat buffing, and posion and disease cure. Now everyone is asking why is this an advantage? The advantage is the no dependance on any healing professions, which means they can fight longer which exposes them to better more rewarding missions.(ie. more money, more loot.) Master TKA's can easily defeat HIGH level dificulty missions that most professions can only dream about defeating,SOLO!

"Callin nerf against profs only brings attention to what either a) a newbie you are, b) a sore loser you are or c) complete pvp tard you are." Newbie? Sore loser? complete pvp tard? Thanks for the accolaides, but the real question is why am I argueing this? I am trying to bring out to the attention of the comunity that a few skills are not right, give a large advantage to just one profession, and can be dabbled in very easily. So yes I see a problem and I will let people know about it, because it is my duty to talk about them. Now when I argue or attack a skill tree or try and argue how effective it is , I am told that I dont know what I am talking about and I should just accept that something is the way it is. That is the problem, accepting it. So all this crap that TKA is fine and is not broken is a good indicator that it is broken.

"Just because you have the skill box doesn't make you good. Its in knowing and using these skills to their utmost potential that you are "good"." Hey punching hot keys does not make you better, so lay off this better stuff, anyone with a functioning index finger can compete in this game provided the skill sets are balanced.

"BTW the last paragraph is actually my sig you asshat", and your sig is worth attacking, because it is a dumb notion.

*sigh*

i am really getting sick of this buffing issue. Doc buffs last for over 2 hours at times WE ONLY GET A 5-10 minute buff and we cannot do secondaries

maybe the +500 helps us somewhat but you go up against someone like a BH or a commando and they could probably take a TKA apart. I've tried raiding while powerboosted sure it helped me last a little longer but I still went down to riflemen and pistoleers so it must not be as powerful as people say

so lay off the meditation line and try to get your own profession fixed not ours broken

There's two primary reasons I chose the Teras Kasi Artist profession:

  1. Since there's no such thing as dismemberment in SWG, it's nice knowing that I'm ALWAYS armed. Guns decay, break and can be expensive as hell (same applies to swords, polearms, etc.). Being able to fight without a weapon means one more money sink I can avoid.

  2. Disease, wounds, poisons and bleeding are a constant threat in SWG. It's at the very least inconvenient to run back to civilization everytime I get a boo boo, most of the time though it's simply futile; doctors are seldom around (short of Theed & Coronet) and those who are, usually are too busy tending a long buff line. Of course there's the option of becoming a doc/medic myself - there again is another money sink; resources, medical droid (and batteries), crafting... no thanks!

If it isn't obvious, I'm not a fan of money sinks... I'm also not fond of having to be too reliant on other players. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of great people playing this game who are generous and kind... but there's also a considerable amount of unreliable, selfish and immature nitwits. The option of being able to solo and not have to depend on a weaponsmith or doctor is invaluable to me.

Easy-Exanip, if they were to nerf or eliminate the meditation line from Teras Kasi, essentially you'd have a melee fighter who:

  • Couldn't defend him/herself as well as a fencer

  • Couldn't dish out nearly as much damage as a swordsman

  • Doesn't have as effective knockdown attack as a pikeman

Basically you'd rob an entire profession of a significant portion of its 'flavor' and reduce them in value to a place beneath their rivals.

If you were to keep the meditation tree as is, and simply increase the number of skill points necessary to master Teras Kasi (ala Bounty Hunter), you'd just replace TKA as the flavor of the month and watch everyone become either Master Swordsmen/Master Docs or Master Riflemen/Master Docs. Greater firepower; better buffs/healing (not to mention buffs/healing you can apply to other players and supplement your income).

I don't think the Teras Kasi profession is unbalanced. I do think that some of the other professions (particularlly pikeman) need to have their HAM costs reduced and/or have their specials made more effective.

You're welcome to disagree Easy-Exanip (and I'm almost certain you will), but frankly all I'm getting from your posts is that you're tired of seeing meditating Commandos, Riflemen, etc. Personally, I'm tired of seeing everyone wearing composite armor and/or chef hats... but you know what, if that's what floats their boats, who the hell am I to rain on their parade?

My suggestion is to drop the envy, stop trying to dictate what others can/cannot do, carve out a niche for yourself, and try to enjoy the game. That's got to be more fun than complaining... isn't it?

You can avoid that damage that the TKM will dish out while constantly hitting that button over and over again by simply holding down your right mouse button and keeping out of the range of that TKM. I mean seriously wake the **edit** up, if someone is running at you and they are not holding a range weapon, knife, sword, or a pole-arm it is a pretty good indicator that person is a Teras Kasi artist. At this point you should be thinking "oh **edit**, here comes a TKM" and haul ass in the other direction instead of standing there and letting him beat the living day lights out of you with his fist.

How does this attack my earlier post that the meditate line is out of wack? " I mean seriously wake the **edit** up". I am awake, wide awake. Fighting TKA tactics is handy, but I all ready use them. My beef is the meditate line and how it unbalances this profession and weakens a few more.

for your info my new char isnt at master smug yet, an i ahvent started work on the df line.

An jus fer yer information a hep of people prefer to start out the fight with lowblow, then panicshot (an last ditch etc), so if yer gonna pull it apart, get it right first.

damn calm down yer gonna have a heart attack soon.

as fer spammin my specials i dont tend to spam the same one three times in a row (maybe twice, to make sure it sticks), pvp is usually pretty fast (least fer me (an no tahts not because i end up lyin on my back))

now back to the meditation line (ug swear youre the most against it). Try an get this into your head (power tools help)

If tk didnt have meditate line, think what theyd have, one of three things (maybe more)

1. better specials

2. better defense

3. better offense

just stop foamin at the mouth an think about it fer a bit, theyre stuck with a next to useless pvp skill (imagine commando HAR line (tho not as borked)), an if they werent theyd be even tougher to beat.

just a side question: whay are you goin against a nearly pointless argument so much? (devs dont read the boards, an id oubt the cor will ask fer their prof to get nerfed, serves no purpose cept to piss people off an make you look like an ass)

is it to get your 50 posts above 100?

that an if yer only beef with the tk profession is the meditate line, which in my op weakens the prof....

I cant see why the prof is overpowered/needs to be nerfed.

(fer yer next post try ta keep it a lil more neat an not elt it look like a total whine/**edit**)

good point Kia

and I'm all for making TKA a "hybrid" I mean it would be better then nerfing it to hell

Just one thing though. What would they do for the people that are already TKA's?

I just hope i wouldn't lose the work i already did on TKA if they switched the prereqs but its still a great idea

if they do it

In a pvp situation a tks self buffs dont mean diddly squat, more than half the damage a tk will take was from using its specials, an if they cant buff secondaries theyre screwed. Most tks i know will use doc buffs an almost never powerboost.

as for buffing their mind, so what? They do so much mind damage to themselves from using specials it isnt going to change much."

Well what can I say. TKA arrogance?

"as for buffing their mind, so what?" So what? "They do so much mind damage to themselves from using specials it isnt going to change much." Well hey welcome to the club, spamming special moves does eat your HAM. So when you have 500 more HAM than anyone else you are going to be better, but according to this guy

"learn how to use your proffesion". Now I pay 15 bucks a month, the same as everyone else does, and I can assure the rest of you that if any profession could get 500 more HAM they would be better also.

I love this post thread.... Most of them, read that word.. most... it doesn't mean all... but more than one but less than all... MOST should be titled.

"I looked at the skill tree of a TKA and in my "expert" opinion I see this an overpowered class.."

Self buff- Woohoo gets the primary stats for 10 min.. I dont even use it.. Doc and mind buffs for me.

500 pts of damage a sec- Don't forget to throw in across all pools... Swordsman, not even master, (I watched my wife do this), took two swings at aKliknik for a total of 7000 pts of mind targetted damage...3000 on swing one 4000 on swing two.

WOOO!! HOOO!! IN THAT TIME I COULD HAVE DONE 2000 POINTS OF DAMAGE (to various pools rather than just the unhealable mind pool)

I dueled her as well, we were equal with skill boxes, almost Masters.. She beat me 3 times back to back to back and you couldn't even tell she had been fighting. She did not use Cob.

To quote her, "If a swordsman can't beat a tka, then the swordsman should take up Chef..Combat obviously isn't for them."

Oh and for the record, my mind was 1000+1000 dance buff+fresh muon buff.. I had Comp armor with 70% Kinetic damage resist... D'oh Hammers do Blast damage.. Her 80% kinetic armor was a great choice for my kinetic damage output.. I was out before the muon wore off... I was particular when using specials. Dizzy/Knockdown wasn't effective as you would think...

(and for those that say "well you shouldn't have accepted the duel with armor allowed"... Armor was not a factor when she was stomping me in the ground..... If you have to have rules for dueling OTHER than no DB.... Then maybe you aren't all that powerful.... And believe me I tried KD/Dizzy; when it did stick... it didn't keep her down)

When I targetted her action pool, I couldn't keep up with her regen rate, vks have speed of 1.3.. and even then it STILL spread out over the other bars.... I could just watch the blue bar going down WHACK! WHACK! WHACK!

Then she said "I had better let up otherwise this will be over in a few secs.. Do you want me to remove the armor to make it fair for you?"

Talk about adding salt to the wound, (she said this in spatial by the way, in front of the Starport in Coronet..)

The one thing that I hope is that the devs DO play TKA... Then they will know you are full of crap...

Great toon for solo'ing PVE, if you are buffed... But it is not the godlike UBER dude, or dudette, you people make it out to be....

My wife said she is NEVER going to give up Swordsman....

Should swordsman be Nerfed? Nope and neither should TKA.

Ultimately, arguing on the forums is like changing seats on the Titanic...

lol just realised if you read only the words he highlighted an in that order you actually get my point across faster (eg: self buffs diddly squat)

Probably the best arguement. It actually has some valid points and I would like to highlight some of these points.

"Disease, wounds, poisons and bleeding are a constant threat in SWG. It's at the very least inconvenient to run back to civilization everytime I get a boo boo, most of the time though it's simply futile; doctors are seldom around (short of Theed & Coronet) and those who are, usually are too busy tending a long buff line. Of course there's the option of becoming a doc/medic myself - there again is another money sink; resources, medical droid (and batteries), crafting... no thanks"

This is my exact point and the basis for my gripe. I have seen TKA sweat off alot of wounds, quickly. The use of this skill makesit easier to access higher paying missions and loot. For 92 points you can heal your self real fast and also heal posion and diseases, something beyond what a master medic can accomplish. Also the healing of mind wounds really does cheapen the entertaining professions. So yes this is a huge advantage for 92 skill points.

"The option of being able to solo and not have to depend on a weaponsmith or doctor is invaluable to me."

Hey now it sounds like this is the thing that should be avoided, but when I ask why should one class get all of this functionality. I get the status quo line.

My suggestion is to drop the envy, stop trying to dictate what others can/cannot do, carve out a niche for yourself, and try to enjoy the game. That's got to be more fun than complaining... isn't it?

and

Personally, I'm tired of seeing everyone wearing composite armor and/or chef hats... but you know what, if that's what floats their boats, who the hell am I to rain on their parade?

Complaining, yes, yes I am. Settling for the status quo, no I will not." Drop the envy", please spare me that line.

"stop trying to dictate what others can/cannot do", I am not telling others what to do, but I am trying to bringto the attention of the community that the meditate line is way too much power for the 92 points that tka spends and i believe your explaination is the heart of the problem. You said it best,"It's at the very least inconvenient to run back to civilization everytime I get a boo boo", why dont pikemen meditate, or dancers meditate, or any other profession get this skill.

Best regards,

/sigh

Why don't others have medation? Simply cause it's TKA skill. Why can't tka dance, apply poison, cause fire DoT, harvest, build house because they're some elses skills. If you're so envy about the medtitation dabble it. Meditation doesn't make TKA overpowered. It can give people who have meditation less downtime in certain situation and many professions can easily dabble it, smuggler's, commandos and master brawlers. It doesn't even take much skill points to take if you like 49 points (novice brawler, ua4, novice tka and meditation4).

I don't like to be rude but go back to your cave and growl there. There isn't suppose to be balance between professions, there has never been such announcement, professions should be different and have different abilities to make them simply different so people can choose what they like or dabble here and there. Why is this so HARD TO UNDERSTAND. If there seems to problems in the profession people play/like then focus on those and try to get them fixed rather than making these pointless postings.

Enjoy and play the game.

As was already stated earlier easy exanip, your argument can easily be pulled apart.

"why doesnt pikeman or swordsman get meditate?"

why doesnt tk get entertainment wound healing?

why doesnt it get dodge modifiers?

etc

It like all other classes has a set of specific skills that only it has.

If your only gripe is with the meditation line it is hardly game breaking, and barely makes a dint in pvp or pve.

Fact is a master medic will heal wounds much faster than a tk will (and wont cause the tk bf at the same time either), unless of course they are using dodgy wound pack a's.

personally in my final template i wont be using meditation mostly because i think its a waste of sp, taht could be used elsewhere.

on to another point then.

master tk prereq should stay as unarmed 4, asking for it to be more than that is like asking that a pistoleer have a prereq of master marksman.... it just makes no sense.

tks only use their fists (and vks), not swords axes or polearms.

you guys know how it is, soon as something pops up someone else can't defend because..

A. Their9 year old comps with 128mb of old sdram is causing so much lag they can't move to begin with.

B. Have no clue how to use their profession in the first place.

C. Are on an AOL dialup.

D. Are one of those dozen or so morons who troll the boards day by day screaming nerf nerf nerf because retardation has hit an all time high.

E. Are mad because they got an F in preschool.

I could probably complete the entire alphabet but it'd be kinda pointless to do because I'd get lost at trying to put in order the stupidity of it all
