Thats why its probably easier to think of all melee professions as martial artists with their area of expertise on either swords, pikes, axes, or unarmed.
Something to think about though is that this is Star Wars. A place where it seems that technology is only limited by the imagination. If you can imagine it then theres probably a weaponsmith or an underworld smuggler who can get it made. Say you want to use the venom of some animal to infect the wound of your target, then you get a weapon with a poison mod. Making a weapon that would deliver a shock of electricity would be as simple as adding a small generator.
The possibilities are endless you just have to have the imagination.

I hate to disagree, but the only thing that Windsplitter posted that could be considered EU was the brief blurb from Masters of Teras Kasi (which was done by Lucasarts). The rest of that isn't even from a licensed Star Wars product, it's all fan fiction.

The same can also be said about us in PVP we rock in 1v1. Melee fights no sweatand to a certain extent we can usually take ranged professions (so long aswe don't allow them to kite us to death =P ). But since the only damage we can do is kinetic in group situations we usually get our butts handed to us if we have to take on multiple hostiles at a time. If we had DOT weapons we could hop into the fray a bit more and at least soften the rest of the group for the others. Again I'm not trying to say that we should be the uberest of the uber but at least balance the field in regards to types ofdmg.

Quick completly off topic question (I dont think we need a new damage type, but Ive only been tkm for a week so consider me unqualified) If a clone tropper with a rifle can solo an SBD why can't I? Furthermore, if Jar-Jar Binks (JAR JAR BINKS) can solo a regular battle droid by throwing throwing blue goo at it, why does it take me 5 minutes and 3k condtion on my armor, why do I even need armor at all. I think what im reallly trying to say is, WHERE THE HECK DO I GET THE GOO.

its not enough that you guys can meditate your wounds out , dizzy knock down in one shot , and bring yourselves back from incap with a special ,not to mention you guys have the fastest lowest cost attacks accross the board , can attack anypool you guys chose , now you guys want ap ? and dot weapons ? its called tera kazi galaxies if you do that , as it is there are too many tera kazi runnign around , your professions has way too many extras for the amount of skill points spent ,
want ap ? get swordsman .. want electricity damage and dots? get pikeman ,, you cant have everything , stop dreaming ,

Not a problem. I never played that game and am not familiar with the "blurb," so I lumped it all into EU.

how about a laser knuckler with laser damage? which would be like plasma damage? hotter than heat damage but with an added electric kick?

Actually whilt true we have knockdown and can dizzy and stun and blind the truth is these are worthless specials. True in pvp you can get them them to apply almost all mobs over a certain level it is impossible to get them to stick.
On ar 1 and aro mobs we can dish out almost the same dam as any other class but the thing is once you are master tka most of thekills we go after now are ar2 or 3. On these mobs we are about worthless. Which means we are almost excluded from the high end content and chance for better loot. In truth I would be just as happy they just change the vk to ar2 and we not get new dam type. Cause even if we do get new dam type unless it is ar 2 at least we still will have major handicap at killing higher ar mobs.
Heck I feel sorry for commandos when rifle outdam thems easy. LOL somehow I think a rocket propeled grenade do a hell of a lot more dam then rifle serveral times over per shot.
(While I am thinking about it what unreal nutcase came up with ideal range for grenade at 10 m? Um I really do not think any in real life survive blast from a grenade they dribbled 30 feet away while standing up.)

Ok my turn at an idea....
Not a weapon at all..an item to help us channel ourTKA cheee so to speak.
It would do kenic damage with a twist no resist to it and only 500 damage
with a 10 sec recharge rate at master no damage mod for it.
The idea for this is the focus of our damage is inside our opponet.
This would keep the TKA to just one type of damage and off set the ultra
NPCs a little for most have 45k to 125k HAM anyway.

Well from what I have seen in real life in actual fact martial artists can train and be experts in any melee weapon from swords to pikes to shurikens and unarmed.
well in this game you can also train to be expert in swords and pikes , you just need to invest the extra skill points and drop your chef skills
