This is my veiw on an alternive for the Razor Knucker that I posted in the Issue/Bug thread:


Personly I'd like to see us get them soon, however I don't belive heat damage would help us much, I think the reason they were coming out over powered is that they require Nightsister Vibromotors which can make insane VK's anyway. Personly I'd like to see them come out as either AP1 Energy damage much like they were due to come out originaly (but toned downa bit even if it's down to the stats ofa normal VK) or AP2 Kinetic with a HUGE damge range (therefore not offering a great help in PvP but helping us damage a bit more in PvE)


Sorry if parts of it don't make sense where it's just cut from the other thread. I can't see us geting both AP2 & a new damage type but I think Ap2 would be more usful in many cases. The fact they currently require NS vibro motors would be my reason for saying energy if it's a differnt damage type they go for as this is the same damage type as the Pikeman Lance that also requires the motors.


I dunno if that idea would bethe best they could give us butthats just my opinion on it.

AP (X) is Armor Piercing (X).


The Combat Balance will hit after Jump To Lightspeed, but no definite timeframe as of yet.

I say cold dmg. but don't take away the VK leave that as it is, just make another wepaon thats cold dmg

I'm with cold damage, it's a rare damage type, only a certain rifle and grenade have it, so let TKAs use it seeing as no other prof really use it.

Needing a component for Razor Knucklers that can only be looted once a day from an NS Elder is insanity. From what I've seen on my server, NS Energy Lances are used only to show off because of how rare they are.
Would you want to use a weapon that will decay damn quick that you spent millions on?! I mean, they'll be really rare because WSs will have to use them in NS Energy Lances and Razor Knucklers. It won't be EVERYday that it drops either, the mob might drop something else, not to mention the difficulty involved now that NS have weapons and their Force powers back

Also not to nit pick here, but people say how TKAs would be stepping on Swordsmens toes if we had blast, we'd be stepping on Fencers toes if we had stun, Pikemens if we had Electricity, but no one stops to think that the other profession are kinda stepping on OUR toes by having Kinetic, Swordsmen have scythes, Pikemen have LVAs and Fencers have one handed swords and gaffi sticks.

There's my two cents worth.

My desires:


Tazer Gloves - Electricity / No AP / Bonus to Knockdown & Dizzy

Discharge Katars - Energy / AP1 (possibly 2) / Bonus to Lunge

Mercury-filled Steel Mesh Gloves - Blast (or stun)/ No AP / Bonus to Stun and KD?

Razor Knucklers - Stay as they are / Speed Bonus

Combat-weighted Fighting Sticks - Blast (or stun) / No AP / Bonus to Block and Parry


Just some ideas.

I like alot of the ideas that I've seen here ...

Cold looks like the best option as it is used least

mostly I'd just like a greater variety of options
we're the ONLY class whose options are:
Weapon or No Weapon

heck even weapon mods that add temp bonuses to things like stun/damage/knockdown/lunge/block.... etc
that would be really cool .... I just want OPTIONS

They have temp bonuses to damage, theyre weapon power ups. Permanent bonuses to other stats can be found through SEA's. But nothing in the game will give you an alternate damage type, nor will it ever.

IMO cold damage is the most logical option. We dont take a damage type from another profession(who uses the sg82?) plus blue ribbons when you do specials would be relly cool

TKAs need another damage type. There are too many things in the "high-end" game that have extreme kinetic resist along with high armor. Other professions have options, we have none. I think some kind of "Shock Gauntlets" wouldn't be out of line. Acid would be a bit harder to imagine in a melee weapon. Blast could be believeable thought. Gloves or some sort of cestus-type weapon that generates a field of energy that magnifies the power of an attack giving it explosive force, kind of like a power hammer does, i would think. As for the armor penetration of the weapon, that should be based on its other aspects. 0 AP should be worth some high damage or a low damage range (meaning the min and max being close). If it gets AP 1 then make the damage lower. We get enough of a damage bonus from our class anyway. We just need damage type change.

an AP2, Heat dmg Razor Knuckler sounds good to me.....or!.......we could wield a dead trout! I don't think any mob has a 100% resists to Trout dmg, do they? think about it.......AP3 Trout Knuckler!! PWN!!!!!11!!! giddyup!!!!!


Seriously, in light of the coming combat revamp, we may want to suspend this debate until that is fleshed out a bit. Although for the sake of diversity, a second damage type WOULD be nice.
