Thread: trying to find some background on TKA, its history and relation to swg
TheVeginator!
Get a freaking life you geek!
I was doing a search on TKA history when I came upon this. Which would have been a good read if it weren't for a no life having geek who calls himself TheVeginator.
Dude calm down relax and maybe go outside every once in awhile. I liked the information given here just because you don't think that it belongs or coincides in YOUR LITTLE SW UNIVERSE doesn't mean that it doesn't have a place in SOMEONE ELSE's fantasy.
Because that's what it is...... it's fantasty. I hate to break it to you but it isn't real and your never gonna be a part of it. What makes it real is our imagination and us fantasizing about the StarWars Universe and what some read. I have never read a StarWars book and probably never will. I do like the watching the movies and finding little tidbits of information mainly from the game and from the forums and posts from on other forums and all the information comprised makes up my little SW universe.
Who the hell are you to say what can and cannot go into someone's fantasy? Your nobody you little geek. Calm down and relax. If you weren't such an @ss to some of the other people posting what they heard, thought, or imagined then I wouldn't have posted this.........you nerd.
Regardless of what YOU read if it's approved by george lucas or his corporation and it says StarWars on it then I add it to make believe StarWars universe.
Oops Double Post

Does it matter if it's not Canon? The films and books are works of fiction; SWG isa REAL community populated by REAL people. Real people have real desires, goals, relationships and this game reflects that more than the accurate version of the Star Wars universe.
Look at the compromises SoE has made in order to cater to this community. In its history, the galaxy has been overrun by Graul Maulers, Krayts have been hunted with AT STs, and the path to Jedi can involve grinding up to 32 professions. Nothing Canon in that. It does, however, reflect the desires of the community and these desires are ephemeral, so SoE has to keep changing the goalposts as the community evolves. There's lots of money around now and that has changed gameplay as much as holo grinding. Lots of people have tried lots of professions, which they wouldn't have done if it weren't for 'the path'. All of this effects the way the community develops and, pretty soon, anything Canon is but a dim memory. In fact, it already is.
What this background does do, is provide a history for people to refer to when they RP, write a Bio etc. It adds colour to the game and takes NOTHING away. If we can accept that Darth Vader and Luke Skywalkerwould get their ass handed to them on a plate when faced with a Combat Medic or a TK/Fencer then we can surely apply a bit of licence to a profession's history.
Believe it or not, this history is what convinced me to go TK. Not the uberness (hehe.. try and say TK and uberness in the same sentence without laughing). I loved the story and I do hold reservations about those with too much power.
The story is a winner on all counts so, I think using 'Canon'as an argument in this Canon-challenged game, is just being unnecessarily **edit**.

Wow, what a fantastic read. Well Done!
However don't be too hard on the Veginator - I think he is merely trying to keep a degree of accuracy and separating the "factual fiction" from the fiction - if you get my drift. I think he may just be getting a little over excited, thats all.
More info the better!

Well this has been a very fun post to read so far. As always however whenever you enter in a difference of opinion with someone else you always get alittle mud slinging. (more so if the person is a kid, often picked up right away by their poor grammar and swear words used in place of rational thought)
The argument as I saw it stemmed from someone sharing information about a class that I particularly am fond of. Then someone else states that said information was not concurrent to the Star Wars Universe. Then I noticed sources being used and facts thrown around so much that I became dizzy and disoriented.
I heard Canon thrown around alot so I looked up the definition.
canon - a rule or especially body of rules or principles generally established as valid and fundamental in a field or art or philosophy; "the neoclassical canon"; "canons of polite society"
Wow, and here I thought Canon was a big gun on a pirate ship....
Ok so off of this definition I determined that Veginator's point was that if you couldn't back up the information with a "Canon" source then you couldn't call the statement that you were making about the TK true. Well I'd have to agree with that. If we didn't follow a Canon idea on something then any retard could make up anything he wanted about something. (like it or not)
In this case "Canon" is referring to Star Wars, TK to be specific. If whoever sets these "Canon" rules says "Yeah we like that idea, its Canon." then I'll go with it too.
And not to ruin anyone’s fantasy or anything in regards to how they play or pretend where their character came from. No one is telling you that you can't pretend to be a little blue fairy that spreads peace and joy wherever you go. (if that's your thing) What was stated by TheVeginator was that if it's not proven or follow the established guidelines of being "Canon" then it's just made up garbage.
Sorry but I tend to agree.
TKAs are super martial artists but not Jedi hunters, and we don't use the Force. We do have "mystical abilities" which are in SWG as the meditation line of skills.
