"This is something we’ll have a follow up post on. It’ll explain a little more the role of the brawler and his skills. Expect this in the next few days."

Oh god im sure its going to go something like "The brawlers role in star wars galaxies: nothing." Im sick of them talking about how a newb with a gun should be able to always kill a TKA. We cant attack other things if they are running and we are chasing... we cant catch up in the first place since any newbie can kite.... and our special abilities are just too expensive still. Im seeing everyone just take off their VKs, use an ability, and put them back on to get around the retarded costs... i have no choice but to pick up some ranged class. oh and Q, those answers were horrible. who ever wrote them should die. Sigh.... whats the point of being any melee class anymore? they all suck

Q, thanks for the brief reply. Is thisa definitive listing (in brief) of things you are planning to address? Therewere several items (more important items, IMO) that were talked about on these boards (increased movement/running speed, disarming abilities, less 'hate' aggro, increased damage at higher levels, etc.), but there continues to be no response from SOE concerning them. Just curious. I think your list is a good start, but it doesn't come close to addresing the real problems.

You said,"If you can catch something, they'll die, if not .... It's a trade off for the power of close range."

Exactly what 'power' do TKA's have at close range compared to other professions? I'll say it again: riflemen can one-shot kill you from 5 m away. Pistoleers can begin 'kiting' you from 0m away, after knockdown, and experience no HAM/accuracy loss. Some ranged attackers can even disarm you or knock you down from 0m-60m. Even other melee professions (like swordsmen) have a mind pool attack early on in their Brawler 2-handed tree.

In what way are TKA's considered more 'powerful' at close range?

The true fact of the matter is that they are NOT more powerful at close range. When you compare TKA to other professions, instead of just making a blanket statement, this becomes more apparent. Besides, part of the problem is that we CANNOT catch most things ... and even when we do, they don't 'die' (as you say), they just get up, brush themselves off, and procede to give us a one-hit kill (or something equally ridiculous).

Exactly.... TKA ain't really that "powerful"..... like a friend of mine can just pop in and hit his F key then 1 shot dead wow ho!(he's a pikeman, with a long vibro axe)

If we are talking about a PIKEMAN here(the tradeoff point), then I agree.......

A complete crock. I'm embarrassed for you Q; someone has to be and apparently you have no sense of shame.

This is laughable. These responses to weeks of discussion are an insult that show quite clearly that the people designing the TK class have absolutely no grasp of what it's like to play it.

I would like to see a designer play Teras Kasi in PvP, just to see how pointless it is. What "Trade off" are you talking about exactly? A pistol user fires about as fast as me, and does similar damage. He even has his own melee knockdown. Where exactly is this advantage of which you speak?

As for the whole "catching people" idea, that's exactly what we're complaining about! We CANNOT catch people because they can shoot us with impunity over their shoulders whilst at the same time the client-server lag gives them an extra 10-15 metres on us that just doesn't show up.

Here's a little test for you. Take your character, whatever profession, and "follow" another. Have the other guy run away from you in a straight line. On your screen you think you're about 15-20 metres away. Now ask him how many metres behind him he thinks you are. Notice any discrepancy? Any huge, gaping, melee-busting discrepancy about where you ACTUALLY are?

Fix it. This problem is FAR more of an issue than any other TK problem. I can just about deal with huge HAM costs if I have to, but this Out of Range problem is what kills me everytime.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble here. But, how many of you actually watched the Star Wars Movies? I don't recall ever seeing a martial artist, maybe a couple of fist fights in the bar? So pick up a blaster, or come to my arena on Rori, and sign up for my ultimate fighting championship, entry fee is 3000 credits. For all those interested 10 credits at the door for each fight.

I wonder if the Dev's invisioned the amount of friggin whiners this game would draw. Get a life everyone!

What a waste of time. They didn't answer one bullet point with a straight answer. Typical Sony, get used to it. It's not our correspondent's fault, he did what he was supposed to do. This is just Sony's way of dealing with melee classes.

I'm sorry but I have to aggree with most of the responses. Yes you have 32 professions to get through but only 5 questions to write answers for right now. I find it insulting and very lazy. I mean you sound like everybody has been saying, like you don't even care. What's with the attitude? There is a sarcasm in your answers like we are bothering you. Well let me tell ya. YOU ARE BOTHERING US! You need to realize that all of us are paying customers.

I just don't get this, the Devs want to stick close to physical reality, ranged being better than melee from range, that makes sense..

But the biggest issue TKAs have is not being able to catch opponents that run.. is it possible, maybe, a little, that if you are running while looking backwards and trying to aim a gun, you might run a tad.. just a little even, bit slower than someone who has committed their life to making their body a weapon?

Is it possible that someone who trains with a gun(blasters have no combustion/kickback) might not be quite as physically fit as someone who works on perfecting their muscles, reflexes and stamina?

Here is a fun little office challenge you guys could try, get a box of donuts, jelly filled, and try to run away from someone who really wants a donut, while you look backwards and eat one, and see if they can catch up to you, or if you trip and break your gotdam neck first.

That should give you some fairly accurate information to work with on this problem with, and will help to enhance this great product.

*sigh*

2) Ranged Combat – TKAs have sever problems in combat. They are very easy to kite.

If you can catch something, they’ll die, if not… It’s a trade off for the power of close range.

Hah .. the joke being, that we never get a chance to get up close. That and the fact that we can be kited 4m away from a target because we can't hit it. Makes me sick when Devs give such blind responses and don't really understand how their own game truly functions.

So we have to wait another month before they will listen to our issues again and maybe THEN they will sort something out. WHY DONT THEY INCREASE OUR RANGED DEFENSE!!??!

OK; if we're not supposed to string specials what about ranged attackers? I can sit as an expert pistol spec (marksman) and basically click the bodyshot1 attack for 5 minutes before I run out of action or some other pool. But as a TKA I failt three times to use a now useless special (berserk) and I am dead a second later, whats up with that?

"Teras Kasi are lethal, nearly impossible to knock down or unbalance. Facing an opponent armed with ranged weapons, high-level abilities enable him or her to evade blaster fire and close in quickly, bringing his or her enemy swiftly to the ground."
