Thread: Poll Do we need an anti-kiting skill?

Not a skill, but I think anyone running away and shooting should suffer way more accuracy and running speed penalties than do now. In fact no one suffers running speed penalties for using this tactic.

Try this. Get a cucumber, hold in your hand like a pistol and run forwards and turn your upper body and see if you dont slow down.

i personally they should just simplify the matter by taking out firing while moving altogether. if firing while moving is out of the question, kiting disappears as an issue.remove thesystem that doesn't function logically, which creates an imbalance in gameplay.

yes, but....

Do yourselves a favor and dont chase them. You would be amazed at how often a shooter will come to get you if you hide behind terrain or inside buildings. Quite often they will come within 5-10m to shoot you and often thats all you need. Play them, lead them to where you want to fight. They will follow, and if they dont well saves you from from being kited, and possible cloning.

Where our true power lies is in close quarters combat. Inside HQ's we can kill many players very quickly. Outside in the wild we are in a bit of trouble if someone shoots us, but thats what happens when you bring a roll of quarters to a gun fight. I have been kited before, I will be kited again when I'm too excited about killing and forget that I dont have a 64m range. But I will never purposefully chase someone across an open field hoping to close that 49-60m range of ineffectiveness that we have as melee.

Ok that aside, yeah I would love to be able to catch up to someone and who is planning to kite me.

No!

We are melee... not ranged. Let ranged have what they are supposed to do and us melee's learn the class and how to play a melee guy.

If you want a anti kiting ability it's quite easy...

1. Don't fight.

2. Hide behind a building.

Stop trying to get everything into one class for christs sake.

You have more than enough points to take a ranged class yourself. The simple fact that this question has to be asked is lame.

Stop wanting everything to win and actually use your heads.

If you've ever seen martial arts masters fight, very often, they stand 15ft or so apart (especially with weapons), very still for a bit, and then attack. There is a lunge forward, a flurry of movement you may or may not be able to follow, and then one is standing, one is laying down.

I'd say this is perfect RW justification for non-timered, 15-20m lunge/KD move (little damage, panicshot type delay). Even if it were as unsophisticated as a 15-20m tackle, say where both participants get KD'd, but the victim gets a short delay afterwards (mebbe with a stun effect as well) would be pretty nifty.

Got another idea ..... maybe we dont need an additional skill to ad. Why not implementing a speed reduction about 20% for someone intimidated .... it works even from distance and while ure running . Its not such a radical thing but it should work out . And it even works for a novice brawler and the increased duration of intimidate 2 would make becoming master brawler more worthy. Also intimidate done by mobs should work that way.

I am new to this profession currently working on TK Novice. But I wouldn't personally want anti-kiting skills. What would be in line with the profession would be gained at the Master Level.

This skill would be a variant of Burst-run. Except it would either last for a longer period of time or would be faster for a shorter period of time. This could be tied to the mind-mastering techniques our profession I have read has. The percentage difference could be 10 - 15% longer burst run or a faster burst-run.

But after we catch them, we still have to be able to knock them down. I see this is posted as a problem in some of the other threads on the forum.

I hope this makes sense.

I would vote no, as long as when I AM in range, I don't get the lame OUT OF RANGE errors. We'll see what happens with the next patch.

SWG is a lot like the Nicotrol System.

With each patch, you're that much closer to quitting.

No we dont need a skil to stop kiting.

What we need is something to fix this network latency, nothing drives me more nuts then lunging and knocking down a guy, just to see his body move 20 meters away and finally get up.

OR be 1meter away from a guy saying out of range when i try to attack.

I think what we need is a speed boost at master maybe if the network thing is not possible to fix. Maybe half the speed of burst run?

Those are my 2 cents!

I dont think we need anti-kiting skills.. we must be able to catch em on our own that is part of the professsion. However once we catch em, we need to STICK to them,, or kill any ranged user much more faster then we do now...

An incapacitate movement move would be cool like once u catch the ranged guy and use that move, his speed will be slowed down 50% for 4 seconds maybe givin u time for another hit which would slow down again...

This will insure that we will probably get the kill once we catch them. However, catching them should never be easy... Thats the fun-catching them.. not chasing them tho
