Thread: Is Thunderheart implying a looming TK nerf?

Balance is not a dirty word my friends. People take their professions way too seriously. All the points brought up here have been decent, I just wanted to touch on a few:

1. Pistoleer Issue: Read the forums for a bit. Pistoleers get a bad rap due to the specials of OTHER classes. I myself took Smuggler Pistols and use those 3 specials exclusively. They also hit the speed cap with decent 0 AR weapons...but so do Riflemen with AR2 weapons and mind damage attacks. In other words, it's not fair to start picking on one class or another until you play it for a bit and understand its dynamic.

2. TH's original post I received as very positive and posted such in the pistoleer forum. What they plan on doing is giving you more benefit for going Master (a problem that TK DOESN'T have but Pistoleer does) and higher damage rewards. The Balance of this is thata master of 1 combat class, using good tactics should own novices of other classes.

3. Kinetic Damage: A definate problem and something that needs to be balanced out to help us. See! Balance can be a positive thing.

4. DPS: DPS is not the know all and end all of a power that a class has. Combat Medic has a very low DPS, but the advantage that they can really lay a hurting on people and potentially put them out of Combat for long periods. DPS is one modifier in a class, but you have to look at everything. Anybody who has laid on their back dizzy would argue that DPS means nothing at that point.

5. "UBERAGE": This is the concept I don't feel a lot of people get. This game was never meant to have players that could own everybody else. Each template was supposed to have it's ups and downs and combat was supposed to be dynamic and challenging. Each profession should have their strong points and their weakpoints. A Commando has high damage weapons but they're slow and inaccurate. A Rifle can hit you from obscene distances but let your enemy get up close and you could be in trouble. Bounty Hunters should be skilled in many forms of combat and masters of none, a true jack of all trades. etc etc etc. I'm still just starting out in TKA so I'll refrain on my opinions of where (if) the balance should come. At the end of the day, each class should excellin some instances and struggle in others.

All in all I think that nerf is a loaded word and people just need to step back and think of the grand scheme of things when reflecting on combat changes. What hurts you today could potentially be good for the game.

NEWS FLASH!!!!

TK is not JEDI HUNTORZXZZZ!!!!1111

That was FAN FICTION on a fan website. It was a roleplaying story. None of the material that says that TK were jedi hunters, jedi police, jedi slayers, whatever, is OFFICIAL. Probably close to 50 threads have been started on whether or not TK = Jedi hunter. In almost all of those threads the challenge has been posed: PROVE IT. Noone has proved it with material from an official source.

TK is not the end-all be-all of melee or combat in general. It was never intended to be! Get over it!

The person who said this is completely ignorant. It is mentioned in the Expanded Universe as well as the first game mentioning the name, Masters of Teras Kasi by lucasarts. It explains in the manual (long before starwars galaxies or people whining about the power of teras kasi came into existance) how mysterious and powerful the ancient art of Teras Kasi is. Even the emperor himself requested the aid of a teras kasi master who had scary powers. They are not Jedi hunteres, but the only class which could try to stand toe to toe against a normal Jedi Knight. They are supposed to be extremely powerful, next to the Jedi. If the game masters of teras kasi and the explanation made by Lucasarts and being mentioned in 2 official books in in my knowledge does not sound official for you, then please blame Lucas and his co for creating them and making them ultra powerful even before this game was created and this class was introduced. Thank you. Balance is one thing and variety is another. Not all combat classes are equal. The Jedi are naturally and officially unbelievably powerful, next comes the teras kasi masters and that's official as well. Maybe if people don't like these facts in a starwars game, they should play some other game and forget starwars.

I would like to know for my own benefit, as to where there were Fencers, Pikemen, & Heavy Swordsmen in Star Wars. Is this just SoE's addition of a EQ in Space concept to draw in players ?

It was very well said - the addition of of EQ in a space concept. It's a clever butdirty tactic. The name Starwars makes sure that a lot of people get into the game with their hopes up but finds themselves in a different world, but most of them will stay hoping that with patches more content that has to do with starwars and stay true to them would be added.
