No they don't. You're confusing their methods. What they do is all to keep current customers, because the only way to make money in an MMORPG is to keep your player base. Subscriptions=$.
They can't abandon all new content to fix current issues. When that happens, people get bored and quit. They have to constantly balance the need to fix bugs with the tendency to get bored when new stuff stops coming.
Actually they should put the current game before all else because it's what they presented first. You can't put down a weak foundation and then plant a house on top of it. The whole thing will fall. It's a "look before you leap" thing.
A good portion of the player base were looking forward to the ground game being fixed before the expansion was released. I think that anyone who has invested the time to stick with this game should be compensated and not in a game that they have to buy. I was part of beta and I saw what they never finished. Those who were there before me know what was never finished. Whole professions are looking for the niche in the game and are told to wait till the expansion is launched. What for? I stuck with the game since release. I and everyone else deserves to play a game that is as close to bug free as possible.
JtL is as much to keep current players interested as it is to invite new folks in.
You're right, but it still doesn't excuse the way the current game is being handled. Those "new folks" will come to play this game and see all its flaws. I believe you still need the core game to play the expansion so there's no way SOE can hide anything in the ground game. They may be able to trick the newcomers, but the vocal playerbase won't let them be totally blinded. They will eventually play the ground game.
p.s. This is the first MMORPG I have ever heard of that actually rewards veteran players with anything. Your anger against the devs for "ignoring" older players is sadly misplaced.
You're right about that as well. It's the suits at SOE that should be hearing the complaints because they are the reason the game is the way it is. Unfortunately the developers are the only link we have to the suits to voice our concerns. I very sure that many, if not everyone, would like to be able to have the suits answer for the poor development of the game. Sadly, it will be the developers who would suffer because they may have to find new jobs as a result. It's just bad.

Actually that's wrong. The space expansion was discussed, demonstrated, and anticipated before the game was ever released. In fact, it was originally going to come out right after release or at the same time. People have been waiting for the space expansion MUCH longer than they've been waiting for GCW or combat fixes.

There's no debate as to which one people waited for the most, but the fact remains that the core issues were supposed to be nil or as close to that as possible. We knew that the space portion of the game was going to be an expansion. Meaning we were going to pay extra for it. Months before beta ended we knew that the expansion wasn't coming out until a year later.
That said, many have been here since day one forking over their $14.99 for a game that is still incomplete. The only issues that should exist should be minor, but there are whole professions which still don't have a niche in the game like they were supposed to. These are issues that didn't come about yesterday...they've been around since release and they're still not in shape.
Fact of the matter is no matter how you try to look at it, there's been more invested by the players in this game than they have in JTL. JTL was known to be an expansion before beta was over and it should have been completed before anything was to come after.
