Thread: Some proposals for TKA
30 second delay time on all knockdown and posture change moves. Changing the HAM costs of the move back to lower values is irrelevant. Increasing the damange of the move is irrelevant. What this means is that I'm back to fighting stupid asinine pointless blue conning garbage, and getting a fractional ammount of experience so that you can keep raping my pocket book longer and longer.
I'll stick around to see how this plays out, but if you take away the fun of advancing comfortably in challenging high level encounters like it is right now today, and you do so for the sake of trying to keep players hooked into a game where it takes six months to master a class so you can keep lining your pocket book on the backs of our tedious misery, then I'm not going to keep playing I guess.
That's all I ever said -- just don't ruin PvE fun. Someday, some corporate dork is going to finally realize that the way to make great money in a MMO is not to make the character progression SO TEDIOUS that people have to keep doing unfun stuff for months and months to finally make it -- but rather make a game that encourages people to stick around even AFTER they've mastered their characters. I wish SOE would have had the philosophy "hey, we want you to make your master professions in only a couple months time, because we want you to get involved in everything that comes AFTER that." Only problem is, as many people have said and I have begrudgingly acknowledged -- NOTHING comes after that on the combat side of things.
So now we're back to the old model -- make the level grind a literal grind, make sure players can't fight things solo that would be exciting and fun, and make sure that only their addiction to completing their character keeps them playing for the months and months and months and months it will take them to do so. These are exactly the reasons I left DAoC - I despise that kind of level grind.
You know what else sucks? After this change goes live, there won't be hardly any non-starter planets I can go hunt on by myself. I'll either run into aggro I can't handle around every corner or not find any mob I could possibly handle. So I'll be back ficking FARKING Gumbasets for 500 xperience. I'll be back to setting it up so I can watch my TV while I barely pay attention to the stupid game while I mindlessly kill things that are boring, unchallenging, and unrewarding.
And if that is really true, and that is really how it is going to be, then I only pray that I have the guts to stand up and walk away.
Holo, I don't think you realize the seriousness of your actions here. You... made... Selwynn... MAD. heh heh. It was bad enough you were messing with our KD, but now even our precious lunge. I thought it was YOU who said that lunge was our main tool for keeping ranged fighters in our territory, and now it's gone. Wouldn't be so bad in the old days when damage was significantly higher because we could kill another PC within the span of one KD, now that PvP damage is down we've been forced to do KD and lunge multiple times to keep the kiters under control. Now it is gone.
I speculate that you are doing this so that ranged won't spam suppression anymore and in return they would have a method of getting back out of our range, but then again shouldn't that have been our punishments for foolish tactics. A melee fighter that attempts to attack a sniper from 60m should be suppressed to death for his stupidity, just as a carbineer should have made sure that he didn't let a TKA sneak up on him. Now things are just going to be more unbalanced as ever: we run up to them, nearly unharmed, but they run away and kite us indefinately. So we are right back to where we started. Our only hope is to catch them while they're prone, but a master of any class will not be dumb enough to be caught laying down on the job. PvP is going to be in bad shape.
One last thing, you have killed solo play. The main game-play method that I bought the game for.
I have an idea. Lets just give all TKA padded clothing in their inventory in the next patch. At least that will preventmost bruises from the constant incapacitations...
Teras Kasi MONK? laugh...no one would dedicate their lives to this class...
To my fellow TKs, have a little confidence... I'm sure the devs appreciate the geeky coolness of the SW universe as much as we do, so let them work out the problems before you get all steamed and cancel your subscriptions.
I am usually a big whiner, probably one of the biggest since the patch. I think these moves are a huge step in the right direction. I say dont test them! Throw them live. Get us as quick a fix as possible. Maybe this will fix a lot.
The biggest thing I would like to see is a base armor class. Say a base armor class of 1 when we hit 0/2/0/0 and a base armor class of 1.5 at the master level? This would make a lot of sense for the TK class as a whole. (Forgive me all I didnt read all thirty pages!)
Thanks for posting Holo. Big step in the right direction. Huge step.
Ok I think I can understand this whole overpowered argument. Case in point.
Yesterday I was wondering around the desert looking for a decent copper when lo and behold stood a lonely Stormtrooper, I searched around he was the only blip on the map. Sweetness what a lucky day a Stormtrooper all alone, so I taunted him some he told me to move along. Pfft as if got to die sometime right. So I open up with a KD ( no VK's equiped), followed by a dizzy resisted the first one, he at this point started to run I was able to get another dizzy in to stick this time. Then he fell down again, what luck. I hit him with a stun then blind, then equiped my knucklers and went to town. At this point I am at half HAM all 3 bars and I have not been struck yet. He stands shoots twice while running then falls again. 3 more times we repeat this process and he finally dies, saying "Any word on those reinforcements!" sadly they didn't make it in time. I'm at 1/4 total HAM at this point. Now in TKA i'm at 1,1,3,1. Hardly maxed and I do beleive that Stormtroopers were on Holo's list as even for a Master. The only thing that made that encounter dangerous was the HAM cost of the special moves. I think in total he was able to shoot me twice. Overpowered? maybe so.
You got to look at this objectively, If you are comparing our ability to another overpowered class than wouldn't we just become overpowered as well. CH's and TK's were just the first to brought in line the rest are coming. Just sit back and wait. Though I do not like the idea that if I forget to unequip my knucklers I kill myself with HAM cost 674 HAM for my knockdown move 213 unequiped. I can accept a large penalty to kd when equiped with knucklers but not enough to kill me. I like the idea of taking the dmg mod off of KD all together lower the ham cost to around Berserk levels and stop it from stacking. I mean honestly once something is knocked down how can you knock it down farther?
One other concern anyone else notice that sometimes the Knockdown costs more? Seems occasionally my KD will cost 394 for some unknown reason and has only ever happened when fighting unarmed no VK's? Thought maybe it had something to do with repeating it consecutively, but that doesn't seem to be it.

Oh yeah I got 2886 xp for the kill. I had also used chest shot 1 and 2 that extra bleeding helped.
The recovery time on lunge needs to be faster I spammed lunge when dueling a freind and she could stand and get 3 meters before I could pull off another? Same time I'm trying to close but I have to stop to perform manuever or it stops me to perform it. So I was still unable to close the distance.

Your point is then moot.
Prepare for an calm rant...please read...i think a lot of people feel like i do...
The essense of the TKA problem is that in many ways its a far harder fighting style to play than the marksman class. What i mean that is, in a large scale PvP battle...the TKA guys are SWEATING doing the DAMNDEST to get just one hit in...while the marksman can just spam whatever random UBER move they wish from whicheverrange they wish and kill any class they wish...easily...
Wait a sec here...
oh and WHY CANT I HIT ANYONE WHILE I AM MOVING? Goodness knows no martial artist has even actualyl landed a blow while "moving."
Why is this class even in the games DEVs? I realize that the brawler works wonder with PvE creatures that simply:
1)approach you
2)bite/scratch you
But in PvP...you know...the GALACTIC CIVIL WAR...ahem...enemies tend not to run up to you and let you hit them....
Der I appreciate the dialouge but I really think you are unnecessarily apologizing for the Devs in this case.
remember this is a game with limitations...I can't be an expert in everything...regardless of what "real soldiers" do...in the "game" i can't do that.
Also for roleplaying purposes I would never ever use a gun. I wish I didn't have to use vibros. When was the last time you saw a Shaloin Monk with Brass Knuckles?
