I definately do not underestimate a TKM. I personally see them as the best and my personal favourite because despite of this I think they are in a perfect combat balance of weaknesses and strengths

The fact is, TKMs are the jack of all trades in the PVP world. We can lay down state attacks (intim2, blind, stun, dizzy, lunge2 starts off every duel of mine), keep the person right where we want them, and knock their damage down. I'm studying PVP, as I got a late start, but I find that this is the most intuitive profession to PVP with. The stuff just makes sense. Everything is labeled for the new guy, unlike most of the other professsions. Want to dizzy someone? Well hey, look at unarmeddizzy1. Stun? Unarmedstun1. Logical, no? Now, say you want to do any states with pikeman. Polearmareaattack. For all of them. And of course, they NEVER work right. Hell, swordsman is even worse.
Now, just because it's intuitive doesn't mean it's easy. Easiest PVPing (other than being a CM, for which you deserve a slap) is rifleman, hands down. ESPECIALLY if you have a melee profession too. Just Intimidate, mindshot1, mindshot2, headshot3 spammed over & over. Throw in a snipershot when you get the guy down. Heck, I never even used to MOVE when I was a rifleman. Let my group fight in the thick of things, I'll stay 40m back and throw down cover fire for them. One guy's health is down? Strafe2. One guy's mind is almost gone? Headshot3. Combat Medic making people miserable as always? Warcry2, headshot3 spammed, snipershot.
The simple fact is, if you know what you're doing, any profession can beat another. Some just require a bit more skill. Swordsman, for instance? SUCKS at PVP. Just absolutely horrible. Pikeman? Doable, even without the DOT lances, but you need to be GOOD. Pistoleer? BH eyeshot and a geo pistol solves your problems. Carbineer? Well.... As soon as the first person actually tries carbineer, then we'll judge.
