TKM-related PvP issues...


1 damage type: Kinetic. Every PvPer on my server has 80% kinetic composite armor...We just can't do much damage against that. But we're getting Heat Damage in the next mini-publish you say? I say thats Bull$hit. Very few people will be able to get the vibro units to make them, unless they've changed it since I last read you have to farm the NS queen.(Who only spawns once every 3 hours, and doesn't necessarily drop anything let alone the item we need... killed her 8 times in the past couple weeks myself and have only looted credits every time.)


Give us restraint-type damage special attacks (not useable with a VK or RK equipped perhaps). Restraint falls in line with counter-joint and submission fighting, kind of like what one would do while fighting unarmed and in-close. Especially toan opponentholding a bulky, clumsy large gun!



Overall weak defenses due to DA being borked. We're easy prey for riflemen who can shoot backwards over their shoulder while running in circles as we run after them 4m away trying to lunge them (but not doing much as they've defenses stacked) and shooting us in the head with a 500+ max damage stun rifle 9 out of 10 times at one shot per second.


Make DA work more in ballance with the rest of the melee professions.How bout TKA's not having to dodge blasters... because we dont have to: let usgo Darth Vader Style. How about ranged toughness instead of DA... and CoB enhancing both our Melee and Ranged toughness. Its better than randomly doing a block, dodge, or counter attack... its unique and can be easily ballanced.



Its impossible to damage anything in above said comp armor with defense mod stacking, usingTKA because you can never get them to stand still long enough to be in range of a non lunge attack. And even if I do get a lucky lunge its only 2 seconds before they're up and running again... now safe for 30 secs because of the timer. Lunge by itself does about what? 50 damage in PvP to someone without mitigation ortoughness and no armor?


Solution: Snare attack. In PvE scouts make a trap that snares and slows an animal down... pretty much stopping it for about 10 seconds.The beastcan still attack, just not move. Give TKM such an attack that lets us snare an opponent for 10 secs (but has a 30 second timer on it). That way if we do get a good lunge in we can stop them long enough to do a bit of damage or apply states.



In general but still TKA...


Remove wound healing from TK Mystic and make it TK Master only... I'm tierd of dabblers getting EVERY benefeit of meditation that we get: powerboost, FoW, CurePoison, Disease, Bleed... slightly faster healing at master doesn't cut it.



Give to armor encumberances that matter... like slowing down movement and reducing attack speedby a small ammount. Current buffs are way overpowered, so secondary stat encumberances don't mean a thing. I have a suit of 900+ encumberance uber-armor that I can wear and still have 0 ham costs. So do all my opponents. I'll bet I can catch an olympic sprinter trying to run away from me if said athlete is wearing a significant ammount of body armor. I need a fighting chance to catch a rifleman in the lag fest that is coronet.

Oh and in response to some posts on this thread...


Wow there are still commando's doing PvP on your server? I havent seen a comando PvP in months. 90% base compostie armor with 27% Special to Stun, 80% Special to Energy (or any damage type of my choosing except stun and restraint) kills any damage type save poison or stun. And Mind is the only viable target as it cant be healed easily.


We don't need no stinkin DOT, but a Wound attack would be nice.


TKA's not allowed to wear armor? Thats a bunch of garbage. You must have an odd perception of unarmed combat to think you can't do it in armor. If a guy can run around shooting while wearing armor I can run around kicking him while wearing armor. Armor itself is completely broken for the moment. Now, ballance armor and make it so a TKA has certain advantages to not wearing armor... thats an interesting idea.Butforcing me to taketake offmy armor to use VK's is as dumb as letting riflemen have an AP1500+ max damage stun weapon.

I personally believe that the 75% resist to everything except DOT weapons and CM poison duringPvPis a bigger problem then armor. 75% during PvP was great when armor sucked so bad that people would rather run around naked then wear armor. With the current state of buffing and armor, if we actually hit for the correct amount, added with our different skills like stun, blind, dizzy, kd, posture change, intimidate, and our unique ability to use all specials at 1 sec cap and hit different HAM pools; we would be a lot better in PvP. The big reason for this is because we wouldn't sit there spamming so many specials that we wind up contributing to our own death.


IESay you hit for 20-30 points using head hit without the 75% you would be hitting for 80-120, add on top that you can spam the move every second you could take someone down with head hit in about 30 seconds. Now of course who ever we are fighting would be doing more damage as well but thats when all our unique specials play an important role into making them miss us over and over and kd over and over for half of the fight.


But thats just how I feel on the matter, everyone has their own take on how PvP should be improved.

With the nerfing of comp armour in publish 10. Most of these issues may no longer be valid. This is one of the reasons you will get the old " wait until combat revamp " answer.

It is challenging to PVP with just TKA anymore. Buffs, foods, and ungodly resists on armor are the reasoning behind my opinion. In PVP, I apply intimidate, blind, stun, dizzy, KD2, and since that seems to miss more than anything, Lunge. I have not tried using the combo moves since they never really served a purpose, in my eyes, to a profession that can attack any pool. It is required to attack the mind pool in PVP since getting through buffs/armor is a battle in and of itself. I've enjoyed TKA since I came back to the game after an extended break in Janurary of this year and haven't looked back since. PVE is fine, but to PVP as just a TK anymore is suicide against the stackers. All it will do is make you frustrated and pick up fencer/swordsman and the only good line in pistoleer IMO.

I wish that when we're in a base or in a valley out of view from a ranged target, that ranged players can't shoot through the floor to kill us. Also AT-ST's are able to enter bases and kill you too but, they are too big to fit through the door? Hows that realistic? I will give the devs credit, they did fix the shooting through walls recently. Now it tells the ranged professions, "Cannot see your target." Now if they could just apply that to underground levels in bases andtohillson the countrysidewe as unarmed combatants can finally hold our own as intended by all the printed literature in the game. How come this is the only MMORPG that the ground is not solid to blaster fire. Why? That is my only grip, not being able to use the environment to sneak up on these ranged people like the instruction manual says you have to do if you're a melee profession. Until the shooting through the ground is fixed I've stopped doing PvP.

i also think combo1 and combo2 really need sorting out..


I also totaly agree with zstowell's post, running down into a valley for cover because your HAM is low for cover, and thay are still doing you damage through the ground, or floors of a biulding, it needs to be fix now not later..

Armor Resists are too high = 1 dead TK


Limited damage type of kinetic = 1 dead TK


If we see someone in Composite Armor and buffed then we only have one choice, hit the burst run button

As a Wookiee TKM/Doctor my biggest concern is the fact that I normally dont stand much of a chance in PVP because of my limited defense, compared to the people who are templated. They did lessen it a bit, but the really diddnt solve it, but I guess that would be a whole different topic wouldnt it...


Ican sometimes find a way to stay in the fight longer but coupled with the fact that everyone I come into contact with is in a full set of 80% composite Im pretty much screwed... Using some of the status effects can be helpful, but more often than not I find myself getting taken out by the time these statuses actually stick on my target...


My solution: I like the idea of giving us a benifit if we are not armored, whether its some kind of mitigation other than melee or maybe give those of us who are a pure TKM, meaning we have no other combat skills, some kind of defense bonus or something similar...


The only other Issue I have in PVP which goes along with the previous is the fact that we have only 1 damage type weapon,while everyone else has multiple damage types. Which it looks as though the devs are actually working on that now....
