Thread: How Damage mitigation effects TKAs
Ahh no need to worry.
About 30% of the player base will switch to the flavor of the month.
If the flavor is TKA guess what?
A light flashes at the SWG switch board....30% of the players are TKA...what does it mean?
Oh we must have made them too powerful...nerf bat please.
Master Carbineers the next flavor of the month. ![]()
Unfortunately, one must take one step forward, to take a step back, sometimes. And, sometimes, one step back to take two steps forward. However, understand this. If a CH/Pikeman, can take down a Krayt Dragon solo, are you sure TKA are the ones that are overpowered? The reason, our damage mitigation is so high, is because, we aren't the ones with Leg Hit 2-3, Body Hit 2-3, Head Hit 2-3. We don't have bleeds. How else, are we to keep up?

Every patch tka pulls further ahead of the other brawlers.
My concern as a player is not how DM changes PvP.Even taking PvP out of the equation it's obvious how messed up DM is in execution. Why does DM only change the max number, and not the min? That creates a huge disparity in the power of DM depending on what you fight. Fight something that has a very consistent damage range and it might as well not exist. Fight something with similar average damage but a very random damage range, and THEY might as well not exist, as you're going to chop off half their damage.
Sure, this adds some more variety and strategy in terms of what you choose to fight, BUT it also makes balance even harder to achieve, because now you have to take yet another variable into account: consistency of the damage range vs the presence of DM. The inevitable solution is to make EVERYTHING hit in a very small range of possibilities, which eventually will make DM valueless.
The best solution would be to have DM prevent a lesser amount of damage- 10/20/30 instead of 20/40/60, and have that reduction applied to the final damage number. This would eliminate the complaints about how it unfairly penalizes some classes and not others.
On another note, please give all the "nerf the TK" sentiment a rest, people. If TKM are SO POWERFUL, then become one, instead of crying about them. In reality, you know that while they are very powerful in some respects, they also lack the power of other professions, in other respects. The lack of bleeds, the lack of damage types other than kinetic, the lack of high damage attacks against specific HAM pools. Yes, we can target whichever we like at will-- but it's not an option that most TKS will utilize unless you have a horribly unbalanced HAM bar or until the finishing blow. Because targetted attacks burn a ton of HAM and don't do very much damage, unlike the high multiple targetted attacks of other professions.
The bottom line is that Joe Fencer can do a lot of things that Joe TK can't, and vice versa. Bleeds alone make the PvE game SO much easier. Of course a TK can simply take one line in an advanced profession to get access to bleeds, but any other profession can do the same thing with TK abilities like Meditate.
Many people are just not used to fighting melee, but with this influx of tka's it is changing. Tka has serious limitations, Ive been a master since about 1 month after launch and have always had other combat/support proffesions as tka is not godly, the thing is that many dont know how to fight it. I remember when everybody was complaining about eyeshot spamming, now it is not that prevalent... people learned how to fight it. I for one normally fight in Ubese and walk aroundbuffed, when I see the TKA upstart run at me and start spamming UH3, I just wait for him to drain his own mind pool, then hit him with swordsman HH3, or nexu grin. Most tka FOM players are 1 trick ponies and can only KD+UH3 and thankfully they will leave tka for the next FOM.

yup
TKM needs a nerf. The fact you guys only suffer 1/6 the penalty of mitigation says it all. Thanks to your correspondant for bringing that to light. Needs to be fixed.
LOL ya the only thing in TKA that needs a nerf is Dizzy Duration.. and that goes for all dizzy..
Piezo, I can picture the car you drive... right now. It's bright red, has sirens that go WAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! That's right, the Wah-bulance.
Have you been a TKA, against a Pikeman, suffered a knockdown and taken an Action Bleed plus Leg hit 2 and 3. **edit**, do you know how much that hurts? No, of course not, your not a TKA. Your one of those people whining about it. Thought as much. Even so, ever sufferedthe same, ingeneral, without the knockdown and Action Bleed. No thought as much. Your not a TKA. You don't know what your talking about.
It hurts like all hell, all the same.

As a side note, I had a TKM use spitting wral (or however it is spelled) my pet (Gaping Spider Hunter AR1 30% Kinetic 10500 HAM) and kill him in 4 hits. The damage was > 3000 on every hit. Does the 75% (or whatever it is) PVP damage reduction not apply to creatures?

Hey Vykllis, ever get a medic skill to kill that action bleed? Come on, are you dense? Even if the Pikeman gets lucky enough to even hit you, you are still outdoing him by tons of damage, not to mention that you will have KD/Dizzy'd him already while spamming Unarmed Hit 3 or Nexu Grin or whatever you are hitting him with.
A Pikeman loses near 50% damage on mitigation against a master melee profession. You know those hits don't hurt, I know those hits don't hurt when buffed. If they nerf bleeds, a TKA will just be back to flavor of the month again, because a TKA has more toughness than the other classes, take considerably less damage in comparison. Bleeds getting nerfed won't be anyone's time to even considered now.
Before you start saying I don't know what I am talking about, trust me, I do. Played 3 of the 4 classes now, only one I have not is Heavy Swordsman.
I seriously doubt that, since a tkm would just kd2, then nexu grin any pikeman to death in oh, about 6 seconds.
Pikeman is universally acknowledged to be the worst of the melee classes, and one of the weakest classes overall. They have horrible accuracy to begin with, and on top of that, their weapons have pretty much the worst accuracy mods in the game. If their big, slow, inaccurate weapons could ever land a hit on you, it would still take 20 seconds for the bleed to even start, during which time you would have time to kill him many times over.
If you are here claiming that pikemen beat you up, you are either lying, or the worst TKA the game has ever seen. Saying that you get beat by pikeman is liable to get you laughed off the tka forum.
