oh oh, also....okay....really fast i just want to share this.....

PvP against a TKM, here is how a pikeman master stacks up

TKA Pikeman

Damage300-340 130-280

Speed1.0(what ever)1.0(auto attack) 2.5(specials)

HAM costs30/40/30(i think) 80/70/30

Accuracy -5/-5/-5,+200 -54/-54/-54, +150

Toughnes +57(57%?)+26(26%?)

Melee defense+60-70(i forget)+20-30(i also forget)

Hit 3 damage modifer X4 X3

Evasive Things +106 DA +115 block(block only reduces damage)

Now seriously guys, i am asking for help now, what are we supposed to do?

And i only copared pikman and tka only becouse those are the two classes inwich i am the most familiar.

powerboost will not revert to nerfed stats (shudder)
we will be able to take a hit in the crotch and not be bothered
be able to do 2k dmg still

So regarding melee vs. melee pvp, dmg mitigation hurts all melee classes but the TKA.

Why am i not surprised.

why is everyone looking at this so negativly.. i mean sure, yah, it reduces our dmg VS people with ranged mitigation 3. But you guys seem to forget that people do less dmg to YOU.

Someone gave us all a whole bunch more defense and we are complaining about how everyone else got higher defense and we dont hit for as much dmg anymore.. oh my.. just take the defense away.. i mean what were you THINKING. We are melee after all the last thing we want is more defense if EVERYONE is going to get it.

Lol, most mobs dont get mitigation if you pve, so dont worry too much (im pretty sure, i am fighting after the patch with way more dmg loss being a swordsman 140-450.. not 500-600)

If you pvp then you only have to worry about other melee since you still hit ranged people for what you used to no matter how much ranged mitigation they have.

i do try to have faith in the corrospondent, he seems to be doing all he can, and i even belive that they plan of fixing pikeman down the road. But they have been fixing pikeman and other proffesion down the road since launch.

All i can do is look at the now. And for now things are looking grim.

Its kind of funny though...commandos and BH get melee mitigation, but it won't help against the only class they have a problem with.

Mister_Heavy,

Can you please explain were it is you get the +250 unarmed damage in your calculation above? It appears to be related to the unarmed damage mod, but I have been unsuccesful in my board search to determine how the unarmed damage mod is used in damage calculation.

believe in aidelon. i talk with him whenever i see him in game. he's a good guy and im sure he's working to make the pikeman profession a viable PvP and PvE profession. If he doesn't come through, i'll be sure to give him a swift butt kicking.

As far as I know, commandos and bounty hunters got ranged damage mitigation, not melee damage mitigation.

Um, I'm not sure of the data... but it seems you are mixing two states of the TKA. If we use specials with a vibroknucklers we burn ourselves out. I've fought side by side with a pikeman in my guild and he outdamages me and lasts longer when we use specials. I can't quote numbers since I haven't logged any and refuse to speculate. As far as the range modifiers on the polearms, that does need to change if its -54 at all ranges. Block to the best of my knowledge blocked all damage. Didn't know it was another toughness modifier basically. Before the vehicle patch TKAs "defensive acuity" did nothing. Now it is powerful. I believe it even works while using a flamethrower (seems like nothing can hit me now) but I expect that to change.

As far as speed and damage between the two ? TKAs might have a slight advantage but they are looking into balance right now. I myself can't find a balance as I either burnout too quick or just sit there doing minor damage while a pikeman gets crazy. Btw, I think he uses a vibroaxe. Not sure of exact name.

I overall uses I foresee a TKA being the tank while a Pikeman sacrifices some defense for increased offense. This takes into account the vibrolance's electrical damage. It is a bit of variety to damage types.

Sorry to ramble and I might be way off, just some observations from a sleep deprived TKA/Commando.

Conclusion:

Damage mitigation has very little negative effect on TKAs when dueling/PvP other brawlers but is devastating for skill trees like Pikemen who are stuck with bad variance weapons. Pikemenget shafted once again. It is no wonder they are the least played skill tree in the game.

What's all this other combat revamp I keep hearing about for January? I am starting to get afeeling that somehow TKA is getting nerfed soon. I am going to log on one day and find out that all vibro knucklers have been removed from the game or something, lol.

In PvE, against medium to heavy armor opponents, a Pikeman will be better, due to our medium armor piercing Long Vibro Axe, and bleeds. But in PvP, speed is king. TKA's, with or without Vibro Knucklers, can inflict insane damage over a short period. This is why we, as Pikemen are displeased, as we are losing fully 1/3rd of our damage to mitigation, while TKA loses 9% in PvP.

The Long Vibro Axe modifiers are indeed in the -50 to -65 range. It may get fixed, it may not, like we'll ever get told.

Unfortunately, block does not stop all damage, only partially, and from questions answered by TH, it seems that is working as intended.

TKA has a HUGE advantage when it comes to PvP and no armor/light armor creatures in PvE. This is negated by the higher weapon damage of polearms and bleeds in higher-end PvE, but nothing is ever balanced off of PvE.

I don't think Pikemen should be as strong as TKA in PvP, as we're not sprinters. I do however, think we should last longer than 8 seconds.

Sorry, but TKAs have - and rightly so - a huge disadvantage in PvP, and that is lack of AP2 weapons, and lack of any other dmg type. Ever tried to kill a guy wearing composite armor with 80-90% kinetic resists as a TKA? You barely put a dent in him with UA3 and decent Vibroknucklers.
