So far we have in no particular order:
Ryutek
Spuzzed
OnlyMaestro
AuleyDavyds
DragoMusevni
LordMaxx
Let me know if I missed anyone.
My personal suggestion is we give until Monday for any additional applicants. Then we take one week to allow for voting. So August 2nd voting starts. And August 9th we send Thunderheart a PM asking him to approve our choice with a link to this thread so he can see how the candidate was selected. And frankly if anyone fails to get their application/vote in by then they may not be the best person for the job.
This is just a suggestion. I know I'm new here and it's up to you guys.

I realize Ive already submitted my name, but I never really gave an application like everyone else.
Like a lot of you I submitted my name to be the Teras Kasi Correspondent only to find that TH picked someone that no one in this community knew. People know Ryutek, and people know OnlyMaestro, But I dont think that anyone knows me.
My post count on these boards may be low, but well over 75% of them have been in the TKA boards. I try to be constructive in my posts and not bash on anyone (but Im only human :smileyhappy
I started out playing this game in September and am quickly approaching my one year anniversary. Since the beginning Ive beena TKA. Ive tried to share my experience and knowledge to everyone because I feel that no one should be left in the dark about this wonderful profession.
If chosen you can be assured that I wont pack up and leave. I dont work a full time job like many of the other correspondents... No I take that back. Right now my job is school, Im studying to become a French teacher. I believe that skill would give me an upper hand in not only dealing with the issues of the people in North America and the UK, but a broader range of our European friends as well. My age may concern some of you but I assure you that being only 19 I can do the job as well as any other adult. I can go anywhere at anytime the Devs need.
Some things that I would strive to get for you if chosen are as follows:
Definately a new weapon
Some TKA clothing
A background on what were actually supposed to be in the universe
Fixes to the rest of our bugs (DA, lowering FoW timer etc.)
I hope you as a community and you the Devs strongly consider me as a great candidate for the position of Teras Kasi Correspondent.

I don't have a character on Testcenter. I would make one though, and thankfully the correspondents can boost their characters to test anything that may come up. More importantly, when a server is copied for the Combat Balance Sandbox it will be critical that the correspondent to be There and testing, and talking with the devs.

Ithink that the cutoff for nominations shouldbe Sunday, and the vote begin Monday, It would allow those who frequent the boards mostly on weekends to nominate and/or volunteer for the position.
One note, however, is that if anyone has further questions for me please ask them before Sunday, as I will be out of town Monday, August the 2nd through Friday the 6th and unable to respond (out of country vacation, so unless I luck up and get internet service at the hotel I won't be able to check the forums).

I've sent in a request to have this thread stickied so that we don't have to bump it.

I have Mastered Tera Kasi twice and I am working on a third TKM.

Yeah, I think maybe Sunday server shutdown would be a good time to end as well. That way the new week brings us a new stage (voting).
Also, I think whoever comes in second in our little voting exercise should be our standby candidate. So if something happens to the first, we have a backup ready to go right away. I don't know why that's not a more official system--perhaps that's something the new correspondent could suggest.
Thanks for responses so far (applications and to questions)--surely more people have questions out there to ask of these fine candidates?
I havesome morequestions (and if you haven't answered the first one yet, pleasetry to):
1) How well do you understand the mechanics of the profession? For example, if someone asks you what the multiplier for a prone opponent in PvP is for UH3--do you at least have a rough idea of the answer off the top of your head?
(There will be times when issues are brought upwith short windows of responseand you will need a rough understanding of how this might affect TKs. This sounds like I'm speaking from experience, and I am, butonly indirectly. I know when preparing material for the Smuggler Revamp, Caylin was asked to put a list together overnight.)
2) What percentage of time do you spend engaging in PvP and PvE?
(It's important to have an understanding of all the issues facing TKs. If you only ever do one or the other, you're missing half the experience.)
3) Do you do the high-end (Corvette and DWB)dungeons with any regularity?
(It's important to know how these "big-budget" new features in the game have affected our profession--what about them works for us and what doesn't? I do the DWB regularly and TKs are great in there--the Corvette I've done only once so I don't know.)
4) What other professions do you have along with TKM?
(Is your perspective that of a doc/tk and so you're always buffed and can heal poisons and disease without waiting for the end of the fight? Or perhaps a tk/rifleman who uses TK only for when mobs manage to close?)
Thank you for any and all answers! Many of these questions are really to help you assess your own abilities in regard to the position--but the answers are very informative (I hope) for the rest of us, too!

Sunday at server reset sounds fine to me also. Shall we assume that is the date unless someone objects? And while I have no questions of my own I am looking forward to the answers to the above questions. Great post 00over0!

OnlyMaestro I for one was hoping you would apply. You were my other personal choice for the job.
/agree
I found a lot of use and value in Maestro's posts, he obviously cares plenty for the profession and is dedicated already to making useful tutorials and posts.

Perhaps we will need another thread for queestion/answer if more folks think of them...maybe a post with that in the title, Questions from the community for correspondents...
Id like you guys to find out how much I like being a TKM and how much I understand where the average TKA is coming from.
Hope we get more questions
I havesome morequestions (and if you haven't answered the first one yet, pleasetry to):
1) How well do you understand the mechanics of the profession? For example, if someone asks you what the multiplier for a prone opponent in PvP is for UH3--do you at least have a rough idea of the answer off the top of your head?
Im a software engineer, its in my blood to test. 1.5x btwIve done more tests on Defensive Acuity, the affects of Fencer CoB when using pistols, The affect of unarmed toughness when armored, when not armored, the affects of lightsaber damage when no armor but with PSG and all the permeatations there... So yes I like to think I know the way the sytem works (to the best of our ability to know). I know how to create a precise and well worded design document because its part of my job.
2) What percentage of time do you spend engaging in PvP and PvE?
I spend more time PVE'ing, the only time I PVP is when there are folks in Coronet or Theed, and I have also participated in defense of Rebel bases (well Ive been hit by area poisons while trying to chase someone down) but limiting kiting is something I have in mind as a part of the CB.
3) Do you do the high-end (Corvette and DWB)dungeons with any regularity?
Ive visited just about every high end dungeon you can. DWB, Corvette (did not finish in time), Geonosian dungeon. Ive been on Krayt Hunts and Ive hunted nightsisters. Teras kasi is a great tank no matter where you go. We have the best toughness and combat equilibrium and we can take the brunt of the assault while the big guns work the mob down.
4) What other professions do you have along with TKM?
I was originally a weaponsmith/merchant I knew more about what weapons people should use and how well weapons were proportioned more often then the people using. Im still active on the weaponsmith boards and I will be there when we finally get the RK or another weapon. I turned over to Pistoleer/Smuggler for a little while just to try them out. I had always been a pistoleer with weaponsmithing and I liked adding smuggler into the mix. Then I finally came to Teras Kasi and have kept it ever since. For a while I was a TKM/Pistoleer/Rogue and it worked pretty well TK being my main combat and pistols for alt damage and ranged KD to stop kiters. Ive since switched to an all melee template of TKM/Master Sword/Master Brawler/Fencer 3400/Novice Medic. I love this template because of the ranged 20m KD, Intimidate 2 and alternate damage type of swordsman and punching power when medium AP is necessary. I still use TK for dueling and PVE against enraged rancors and Janta. For Nightsister elders, its the hammer
Thank you for any and all answers! Many of these questions are really to help you assess your own abilities in regard to the position--but the answers are very informative (I hope) for the rest of us, too!

Id also like to add that I would be sure to try and make it down for the correspondents summit in Texas. I usually have no troubles getting off work and would make it a point to get down there and represent the TK profession.

1) How well do you understand the mechanics of the profession? For example, if someone asks you what the multiplier for a prone opponent in PvP is for UH3--do you at least have a rough idea of the answer off the top of your head?
I'm assuming you mean when knocked down? When prone you are able to deal 50% more damage to the prone target, however knockdown is a different effect and different code within the game itself, the modifier for KD used to be an extra 100% damage, however it is 150% damage increase as of now. (the 1.5x modifier that was stated previously
Unless of course you're intimidated, which reduces your damage...or your target is intimidated and stunned, which means you'll do more damage added in.
...or if your target is armored, or buffed...or on damage reduction food...then the modifier stays the same, it just seems much much lower.
2) What percentage of time do you spend engaging in PvP and PvE?
Easily 50/50 for me. I engage in a wide variety of PvE, going from money grinding, to NS Hunts, to cave crawls, high-end dungeons, the Corvette, DWB, Geo Caves...etc etc.
PvP is more challenging for a TKA.I wrote that PvP Guide not only to help everyone else, but it helped me a lot by writing it and gathering my ideas as I wrote it. I've learned a lot from PvP, and realize that the current state of PvP is in need of a major overhaul, it is currently dominated by mind damage, DOTs, and as of late Jedi. My hope for TKA is to return to a true respected and feared member of the PvP community, not just a KD/Dizzy character, but a character that is as diverse, and open to all forms of PvP combat. Buffed, unbuffed, armored, unarmored.
3) Do you do the high-end (Corvette and DWB)dungeons with any regularity?
Every sunday we do a DWB group, and every sunday we get closer and closer. We have our lines laid out, we know whom our tanks are, and aren't -- who our damage dealers our, our crafters, our medics...I've done the DWB so much we now lead other people down into it just to show them around, we go and get keys in advanced to prepare for the next encounter.
We're building an entire Mando suit for the City of Wrenpire to go on display, after that's done every person who goes weekly will also be given a piece, probably a helmet or chest piece. (depends on what they want)
4) What other professions do you have along with TKM?
I'm currently a TKM/MRifleman with Scout 1/0/4/0 and Medic 2/4/0/0. I enjoy being well rounded with ranged options, and melee options. The good levels of scout and medic make me a great harvester, and a great field medic, not as good as Doctors or CMs, but a great resort if a main healer is not there.
I use my TKM for everything, from money missions, to PvP. I use my rifleman skills in PvP if fighting a buffed, armored, mindbuffed foe, because the game mechanics currently have made a system where AP and damage to mind pool is major. However when I see a CM or Doctor, I switch to TKA to go to'em, KD, intimidate, dizzy, blind, and keep a Warcry on the CM. (nothing makes a CM more angry than being unable to throw posion)
Rifleman is a great ranged profession, and the perfect compliment to TKM, it gives you an ability to hunt Nightsisters at high-end levels (Elders) you can take part in Krayt/Kimo hunts, gives you many more options for the Corvette and DWB if you don't want to tank - and gives TKM a great tool to combat kiters.
Rifles also made me much better at TKA, I've learned plenty of new strategies from simply watching how I play rifleman, and have learned how to counter them pretty effectively in PvP.
TKM is my workhorse though, when I drop Rifles, I'll keep TKM. When I drop anything, I always keep TKM. It's my steady source, my main fighting potential, and the most fun I've ever had!
