Thread: Am I the only one that sees these as positive changes?

Honestly, Im having a little difficulty seeing why many people think these are bad ideas.
Various quotes...
Across the board action cost reduction (Not changing knockdowns)
Improved chance of a defensive move firing (General Combat change)
Vibroknucklers
- Increasing max range on vibroknucklers to 5 meters
- Changing Health Cost from 32..59 to 18..36 (better)
- Changing Action Cost from 29..46 to 30..54 (different)
- Changing Mind Cost from 15..29 to 18..36 (different)
- These values are modified to be slightly higher than the default unarmed move costs as this is a damage increasing weapon. Because the move costs are being decreased significantly, this should be a much smoother transition.
No, we are still looking at knockdown. This isn't meant to be a comprehensive list of everything we evr intend to do...
The figure that I was given was 25-75% across the board. I don't have specifics and the designer has gone home for the day because it's almost 8pm here.
The first reduction reduces the base cost across the board by a large amount. The way to read this is "100-50+7" so to speak.
A 25% - 75% reduction of HAM costs across the board sounds like a huge victoryto me. Yes, the action and mind costs increase, but with the percentage reduction, we will still be doing much less damage to ourselves thanwe did before.
That and the fact they say they are still looking at Knockdown, I see this as positive news.
Am I missing something here?
The biggest issue I have is putting an even bigger focus on the mind pool then we already have. I don't know about you, but when I created a brawler, my mind pool was dwarfed by my health and action pools by a factor of 2 or more. Up until the patch last week the only time my mind pool ever had issues was if I was getting hit there, or healing a lot. I never spammed knockdowns and with my high willpowerwhat littlemind cost therewas wasrecovered quickly. While the overall costs will be reduced, these changes will put a higher demand on the mind pool which I do not think makes any sense. If you're missing anything, it's the fact that our mind will be an already bigger factor in our HAM costs then before.
Let's use Holo's numbers for example and do some math.
Let's assume the numbers stated were the actual move's cost.
Low end numbers before adjustment:
32 H, 29 A, 15 M = 76 total
that means health is taking 42% of the move's cost, Action takes 38% and Mind takes 20%
High end numbers before adjustment:
59 H, 46 A, 29 M = 134
Health takes 44%, Action 34% and Mind 22%
Low end after adjustments:
18 H, 30 A, 18 M = 66
Heath 27%, Action 45%, Mind 27%
High end after adjustments:
36 H, 54 A, 36 M = 126
Heath 29%, Action 43%, Mind 29%
So are you willing to accept that our special attacks end up taking as much mind as it does health? Forget that the overall costs will be reduced, because this is about the percentages and mind is about to be tied for the 2nd biggest drain of our pools and I'm willing to bet that 95% of us have a smaller mind pool then action and health. On top of that, it can't be healed.
If you interpret the post as "special move" cost reduction, then it is good news
If you read it as it says - the ACTION cost is reduced.
I quite frankly don't care if the action cost is changed at all. Medics can fix this. Doctor buffs can fix this. Groups can fix this. I don't mind spending 700 points on a KD as long as 690 of that come from health and action.
Until the MIND cost is looked at, its still going to be the plain old intimidate, zerk, and punch for me.
When I read his post initially it was not clear to be about how the reductions would stack. If we get a global reduction to Health, Action, and Mind and then they make those changes to the VK's, I have no complaints if it still remains less health, action, AND mind. I don't want to make our strong point stronger and our weak point much weaker.
Yes. If he meant there's a 25-75% reduction on health action and mind costs across the board, great. This is a step up. If he means ONLY action costs will go down by 25-75%, I don't find it as helpful as I can heal the action, but not the mind.
I can't see him meaning a 25-75% reduction on all pool costs though, remember, we're already overpowered as it is - why would he do us any favours?
sorry if i'm skeptical...but how they worded the so called improvements last patch ..we all were thinking were going to be getting improvements ..not a huge bend over dear character breaking nerf....tka masters cant afford the mind increase in my opinion .
seriously i knew when i made tka i would be at a great disadvantage in pvp but to nerf us so drastically for pve is ridiculous..yes kd needed to be increase some butthey were way over zealous in that department ....if i had known all these drastic changes were going to be implemented i would have never chose this profession ...someone tell me please what is the point of being a master tka now when all the higher level 4 skills are so costly.? in my experience in online games as you progress you are suppose to improve and have advantages over lower levels ..not the other way around ....to change everything so much after so many of us have reach tka master is not fair ...i think the fair thing to do not just for tka but other professions to is to refund the points ...so we can go into some other profession if we so chose ...a respec ..
yes and no.. its a start.. sure..
But if you dont keep pushing for ALL the right changes.. you wont get them.. How useless is Droid Eng still? pretty **edit** useless.. Why? Not sure. But, I do know DE's havent been vocal enough about what is wrong with their profession.. (droid storage, varience in models, probot nerfage, etc)
The KD issue is HUGE... so is the VK range issue.. especially for moving.. we shouldnt have to unequip them to hit things.. Im still a novice.. without Vk's I hit for total crap.. whoopie..
So.. yes.. those are positive changes.. but based on Holos statements.. they still see us as overpowered.. so what fixes can you expect? few.. and expect more nerf.. Its just insane
i really think there needs to be a tree just for meditate i sat countless times meditating on rori, lok, and endor meditating cause there was no freaking medics. Also about the third or fourth skill block it needs to start healing BF.
We will have to see how they actually play out, but I think it will likely be a *slight* change for the better. We, and the other brawling classes, might actually be making some headway in the common sense war against ranged fighters as is evident by Koster's post in the main forum today asking for opinions on slowing down movement for ranged fighters.
One of my concerns is Lunge on 30 second timer, it takes 2 lunges to get another player or Mob prone for max damage...can't do that with 30 second timer.
