Thread: Cob is worthless in large scale PvP…plz get it fixed.

hmm, maybe it would be better if it worked the other way around, so that activating CoB would cause you to move slower/stand still, during the warm up phase. That is, as soon as you pressed CoB you toon would halt automatically, and would reamain there untill the warm up phase was complete. That should make it independant of lag issues,while still incurring the same drawback it has now.


Only extra disadvantage would be that you have no ability to start moving again if you want/need to during the warm up phase, but for CoB it's pretty short, and considering how much it fails sometimes now, it seems like a lot better solution.

i concur so much with the comparision with aura, they get to run and do it macroed but we cant. Its blatently rude and needs to be sorted. The other posts about making COB stop you from moving is what i would like to see if they thought being able to apply COB whilst running was a bit too much.

You know...

Given that the CU system is a blatant rip-off of the COH system (which was also ripped off by EQ2, as I undersatnd it, though I have not played EQ2), you'd think the thieves would've at least studied how the COH system worked and WHY it was so workable in combat. But no, they were too lazy to do even that.

COH solved this problem by having defensive click-activation specials immobilize you for the duration of the "charge" phase (they call it "animation time" in COH but it's the same thing). It made activating the power very convenient, gave you a small penalty to movement (immobilizing for 1-2 seconds) to balance things out, and was totally workable despite often large amounts of lag.

SOE, if you are going to steal a game system, geeze-louise at least steal the good parts. For crying out loud.

Was just in a 3 hour battle. And not being able to COB while moveing is such a pain.

i dont know why so many people have trouble refreshing it during large scale pvp....


find a friend and most of the time if you attacking or being attacked you should have a base of operations that at least is somewhat safe to pause for a sec to refresh it


for me i just find a jedi friend and hit it while behind him

COB really needs to be able to be used while moving.

it's fine as it is for pve, where you stand in one spot for the entire fight.

but pvp is NEVER jsut standning still, must be constantly in motion, and COB just does not work in that situation.

what about when it's jsut you against a kiting bh/carbineer/pistoleer or rifleman? or just you, chasing a fr2 jedi?

having to completely halt movement in the middle of battle is ridiculous.

Don't compaire us normal pure melee to jedi. Jedi are jedi. They are their own profession. Jedi's have:Melee attacks (i.e. Lightsaber attacks), Ranged attacks (i.e. force attacks/ saber throws), Jedi's have healing ablilities (i.e. force healing), AND jedi's have Self buffs (i.e. force enhancements). Don't compaire a jedi with us. A jedi is WAY different to a melee. Though I do agree with no CoB while moving. I pvp just fine as a pure melee, I tank well in large scale PVP but with serious draw backs and (like you all) I tend to die first. =(

Even in PvE it's wacky. I've been in fastgroups where I was tanking but didn't have enough time to get CoB up before I had to move to the next mob. That kind of blows when without it I take way more damage. How about if the ability was instant but used mind? They could set it to where without buffs it would be able to be repeated for 30 minutes before you would have to let your mind heal. Or maybe it could be another meditative skill and work like power boost (except please make it last longer). One thing I would like to see is power boost last for about 30+ minutes. I usually don't ever use it because it'sa pain to put up. The whole you have to stop what you are doing. Try to meditate a few times before the server lets you. Then try to power boost a few times before it finally sticks. After that it lasts maybe 10, which goes by way too fast. By that timeyou're 1/4 of the way through the mission that yourgroup is doing so you can't use it again.What's the point? That brings me to another point. The only ability I have that uses mind is power boost. Why? That doesn't even make sense. I have this waisted bar that does nothing for me....


I won't try 1v1 PvP (with TKM) because being kitted around and not being able to do anything about it doesn't seem like fun to me. Although one would suspect that while you were rooted (why is this in this game?)you would have ample time to get a CoB in inbetween the knock downs and snares. Which is very stupid.They should all be on the same timer,last for maybe 15 seconds,and theirreuseshould be 45 seconds.Or maybe I dont know perhaps the more you do it to a person the less effective it becomes.I've tried the current MBH/MR/MM/ with a little bit of Pistols, talk about stupid. A novice PvPer = me, being able to kite a 180kJedi around for 45 minutes is stupid. I finally decided to leave because I gotbored. I switched back to TKM after that because that was stupid...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the working definition of CoB basicly focusing on defense at the expense of offense? And that is the basic premise of a tank right? Why should CoB be on a timer at all....I kinda imagine it as somthing that should simply toggle on and off:


CoB on gives a bonus to RD / MD and a penalty to accuracy because your focus is on dodging and ducking.


CoB off leaves you with full offensive bonuses for when you're not tanking.


That deals with the lag issues, warmup timers, moving, everything else and also offers a tactical option that you can choose to use or not instead of being a necessity at all times


Boost the innate offensive bonuses given by the skill trees and, if you choose to go on the defensive, turn on CoB and trade those offensive bonuses for those offered by CoB

1st: Yes, my TKM/Swordsman/Pike is now a jedi. I can use Aura while moving. BUT: My all mighty glowstick hits like a pistol (Maybe because I cant spend Billions for pearls). My old "regular" Temp could "out-Tank" me by far. I have Master Powers and my main attacks suffer the same Problem with a warm-up as CoB does. Plz get ur facts right.


2nd: If u quote me, quote me right. I asked for sollutions u have, not flames.


3rd: A Jedi cant be all. When ur a Master Enhancer/Master Healer u dont do damage, well a little, if u hit.


4th: In large scale PvP: Take them down one by one. That way u can finish every player.


5th: Go on, blame a player for chosing a path the game offers and had nothing left after doing everything else.


Note:

On different Servers I have:

MCH/MRanger

Dancer/Musician (now MBH/MSL not for hunting Jedi, But I feel BH goes well with SL)

Jedi Alt is a MSmuggler/MPistoleer

and the Jedi


I know the nerfs and suffer too!

heh well im just saying that when i pvp its always in a group....in fact thats what the CU is all about....solo fighting and duels are pretty ridiculous....


and if im against a kiting bh/carb/pistol/rifle they most of the timewill root me....thats a good time to refresh cob cuz you cant move and if it drops when im not rooted i just pause for a sec.....4000 doc helps to heal if you are getting hit while stopped


and against a fr2 jedi? no point if your by yourself and all melee to chase....need a ranged friend to root them and guess what....when you get up to them they are not moving so you dont have to be moving just refresh it and start wailing on them


but i agree.....it would make life much easier to be able to use it while moving.....but im also saying that it is not impossible to accomplish as it is now
