I personally think we've been molly-coddled. Buffs, 80% resistant armor, and being able to solo just about anything. I think it'll be better after this, and we'll have people dedicated to their profession. The profession loses all meaning if it is just something that can be grinded out in a few hours.

As for a melee nerf, it doesn't bother me. Doesn't suprise me, and as an above poster state, this is Star Wars, and not, (he he, made me giggle), Jackie Chan Adventurers. Either way, I don't think their needs to be a nerf...ranged professions should be given skills to make them equal to melee.

It shouldn't FotM after FotM. We should all be semi-equal. Or have weaknesses rather.

Exactly everybody should have weaknesses. As of right now, melee is the only Jedi weakness. If they nerf melee anymore, be it with HAM, Buff, Damage Mitigation, Defense Stacking, or toughness nerfs, then we will not be a threat anymore. I don't really care what weakness the Jedi have, as long there is one. And as long as they choose melee to be the Jedi weakness, I hope they do not nerf us any further.

HI,

Is this true? You mean to say that a TKM can longer stack defenses from Fencer, Pikeman, Swordsman? Or am I misunderstanding the post?
Where does this info come from?

thanks

Yes, after the CB defenses will be weapon specific. Do a search for Combat Balance, most of the posts say the days of the defense stacker are gone.

Some info for people...

For Jabjowie, right now you can stack skills just fine. They were talking about possibilities in the future.

For others... Melee was just as prominent in Star Wars as blasters were. As Obi-Wan stated in ANH, blasters can be somewhat crude. They're common but not ubiquitous. Many characters carried melee weapons, the Royal Imperial Guard are an example (they were somewhat ceremonial true but they were AWESOME fighters). Jabba's palace was full of people with melee weapons.

Also, as to rumors (they are JUST rumors) about specifics in the upcoming Combat Revamp (stop calling it Combat Balance, the devs dropped that term months ago)... The devs aren't even sure what exactly is going to happen, and in interviews they are reluctant to give any details. So don't plan ahead for changes like a complete end to skill stacking, after all the devs already announced at one time they were going to eliminate stacking and then changed their mind and just added some caps.

I'm not that worried. They don't seem too eager to get the Combat Revamp in motion. I mean, wasn't it originally supposed to have happened last year? Too busy with JTLS, which I find hilarious (I use that word lightly) since there are still so many issues in THIS game that need addressing. (cough, smuggler)

Most people would not presume their combat skills as a master whatever is supposed to be superior or even comperable to those of a Jedi. As for meleevs range. If someone points arifle at a master melee professionalat 5 meters, they will get hurt. That's as it should be.I dont know how many times I have seen arange weapon combatant engage a TKM or Pikeman at 10-15 meters and get hammered. Too many people snatch defeat from the jaws of victory........

Meh I was just sitting here thinking of memories past about swg.

I rember 1 year ago It was pointless to be a meele proffession a Ranged proffession could just kite you around and spam bleeds on you forever....

Now come the combat balance meele charcters will no longer have stacked defenses, Buffs as good as they are, armor as good as it is.

I fear the days of ranged combatants stacking templates to maximize abilitys will return

Master pistoleers with smug 0040 and bh 0040 I fear will rain supreme in pvp.

Or Carbineers with bh 0400....

I think pistols is to easy to stack and will once again become the basis for everyone in the game....

Please tell me if Im wrong... I love meele proffessions and will be forced to leave the game If I have to become a ranged one.

Whats to stop people from kiting meeles around? I suppose Extremely harsh accuracypenaltys for ranged players moving would help...

So no stacking for the melee professions, yet surely that also means no stacking for the ranged professions too?

I sure hope the devs think a bit deeper on this. The ability to customize your character by dabbling is one of the best and unique things of this game. Else, *everyone* will do the top defensive and offensive professions and be done. The system today allows for so much individuality (no TKA is exactly alike; no rifleman is exactly alike, etc). In my opinion, to take that ability away would be more damaging than it would be a good for the state of the game. If they want to put more bonuses at master levels, that is understandable. But to take the individualization away altogether and force us into cookie-cutter molds is not the best way to go. We need a strong TKA correspondent that will help guide the direction of the CB in order to at least attempt to prevent this sort of thing from happening.

Peace.

All of you saying ranged is more starwarsy are dip **edit**s....

If the empror thought ranged was superior why did he trust his life to pikeman.....

Well, Starwars is much much more than jsut the movies... there are hundreds of books and comics and though a lot of them are about Jedi and their strugle against the Dark Side, there are as many that are about completely different stuff... like smugglers, mercenaries, bountyhunters...

about the emporer I can only say: His guards were highly trained wariors with every weapons and even trained in the ways of the force, though on a low level. there are several comics about those red guardmen and their training.

In the end Star Wars is defined different for every single player here. Some have only seen one movie ore two, some have seen them all. Some have read the books too or only seen some of the comics... so the definition what Star Wars is, is completely different for everyone...

Thanks for the information Atama.

And Hrodric, I think you are exactly right. Making unique characters by stacking/dabbling is a great thing and removing it would damage the game. Walking into a fight with somebody that is wearing the same Master title as you currently can be a surprise since you don't know what other skills they have stacked. If this was not available, I guess it would just turn into who has the fastest macro and can pull off the exact same moves the fastest. I hope it does not go that way...

Like the Emporer REALLY relied on his pikemen guardsto"GUARD" his life. They're like the royal guards at Buckingham Palace......just there for show........lol.

lol yep......Emperor could shoot lightning out of his ass....no need for DOT sticks and string trimmer pikes to have his back.

besides....who kicked his ass in the end?

a pistol?

a carbine?

a rifle?

a pikeman?

no...an unarmed brawler move

Think of it this way: if a fight breaks out between 2 tka's the one with the first hit wins. The whole galaxy will be about 2 things: who can get the first hit and which stand-alone profession can deal the most amount of damage. Say hello to a galaxy full of cookie-cut riflemen. I seriously doubt (or hope?) that the developers would do this.

Peace.
