Thread: Patch to go live by the end of the week

I often wonder lately about all the promised improvements to the TKA line. Where is the decreased HAM costs, increased damage, increased range etc. that Holo has mentioned?

I'm still hanging onto TKA, but lately, that "surrender skill" box has been looking pretty tempting.

From reading these posts I must be the only one that is happy with Teras Kasi!

I am a damage machine when in melee that no one can contend with toe to toe (...except other melee classes). I don't do much PvP, but when I do I don't play the Shooters' game, I play my game.Sometimes I do well and sometimes I don't. No biggie.

I don't expect TKM to be the "GREATEST CLASS OUT THERE", I expect it to be fun to play. And it is, invictory or defeat. But that is just me.

Unfortunately I am not as close to hitting Master as some others are. Still about 1.5 million away. But that's okay. Knockdown is not as important to me PvP as Unarmed Lunge is. PvE I love to Knockdown, apply states, and then go at it. Actually one of my favorite things to do in a group is to make everyone laugh by saying, "Teras Kasi are a danger to everyone around them...THEMSELVES INCLUDED", then use Knockdown with my knuckles on and try to incap myself. It cracks people up. In fact one Pistoleer/Bounty Hunter said, "With HAM costs like that TK's surely need to be nerfed. LOL".

I don't know. I enjoy playing it and I have played for almost 3 months now. My advice to those who think Pistoleers have HUGE advantages over TK's now or with the future patch...uhhh, switch to Pistoleer. DUH!

Vylin:

"From reading these posts I must be the only one that is happy with Teras Kasi!"

- Not at all. Count me in the "happy" group. The problem is people don't generally complain if you are happy with something, which skews the results on the forums.

"PvE I love to Knockdown, apply states, and then go at it."

- I do the same thing. Remove VK, apply all four states, Equip VK, Pummel opponent.

-----

- The upcoming changes to Unarmed Lunge is going to hamper my PvE playstyle (as it is the only effective way to combat Ranged Humanoid NPCs), but I'm sure I'll manage just fine.

Count me in too. I love playing a TKA, even if I am only a TK Student. I don't even have knock down but I still kick my share of booty. And I have millions of xp to go before I reach Master

But I have alway enjoyed playing martial art type of characters, after all what can you expect I have been studing for over 25 years. And I still consider myself a student.

For me it isn't about winning or losing but about having fun while I play. You take what the Devs give you and make due with.

Well put sir, and you are NOT the only one out there.

Ladies (Very few I bet) and gentlemen. We are melee. If you hit your attack button/run up to a red player from 60m I HOPE that you get roasted by blaster fire because you're playing the class wrong. You sneak, you duck behind walls/doorways/anything that provides blaster cover and when they're within range, this is where you shine. I am a master and currently, working on my pvp skills and though I get my butt roasted when I'm fighting with a load of people around sometimes, most of the time there is confusion...this is your friend. What's the point of a pistoleer/carbineer/rifleman running away from another rifleman? None, they stand there and fire or even get to kneel because they are harder to hit and are more accurate...this also ties a big red bow on themselves with a tag that says "To: TKA From: Santa"

We use surprise (take your label and VK off), our environment (Look at Jackie Chan movies), and our stengths (KD followed by anice Unarmedhit2 or 3, typically kill my victims with just one hit while they're on ground).

Our powers are mysterious(healing our own wounds with meditation, being able to punch out a snorbal), but WE ARE NOT JEDI. If you think you can run up from 60m and take their shots, either deflecting them, or just taking them like a Juggernaut, you are just wrong...plain and simple. Change classes and stop posting here.

This class is amazingly fun...our animations are beautiful and we are POWERFUL. I regularly do over 1k with UH3 on a KD'd enemy and when I don't kill in one shot, it's two. With the new patch coming, I'll be floor if I ever have to hit someone twice. Please FEEL your class, UNDERSTAND what it's supposed to be, and if it's not for you, quit and stop posting here. I will not whine. I will adapt and conquer...you.

Um...... LoBai. How do I use cover when blue con NCPs can shoot at me through non house walls, rocks BIG and small, trees and hills and what about when a blue con NCP shoots at me through the corners ofa house?

How do I suprise an enemy in PvE that can shoot at methrough mountains?

Count me in the "happy" group as well. TKA is a "smart" class. Be sneaky, be stealthy, or be overt about it. Have fun with it in different ways. Hell, get together with a couple of other TKAs and have a contest to see who can incap themself first attacking weak creatures... The class is plain fun.I have a BH on another server, and greatly prefer playing the TKA, probably partially because I CAN'T just blast someone away with next to no difficulty. The timer thing we will see how well it works, and if it doesn't work, it will change. SWG is a dynamic game and a dynamic world. That is part of what you are shelling out your money for, is a game that has constanly changed and always will. If you want a class that will just devastate other players, it isn't for you. It never will be for you, and it never was intended for you. Look at real life. Martial artists spend years working out, training hard, and mastering their abilities. But, one well placed bullet will still kill them. There is more to the game than killing other players, or at least there is to me. Those that want to kill other players, without a chance to defend themself have a name. They are grief players, and a bane to all those who actually enjoy playing the game.

i'm about 20k of combat xp shy of master. i just spent the last few days grinding in hopes of beating this patch. once i make master, i wont give a fcuk about combat anymore. not for xp anyway.

i had learned to live with the high ham costs, mostly because i'm a novice doctor. but the 30 second timer will definitely increase traffic at the cloning fac. if SOE wanted more of us to die more often, they'll succeed w/ flying colors.

I won't say I LOVE being TKA, but I'm not going to give up the skill, ever.

I enjoy TKA most of the time, mostly for the ability to check on harvesters alone.

As long as I can do that, then life will be somewhat ok, but if I have to start getting a group together and convince them to shell out 6k a pop to go get my Yavin 4 stuff, then I'm gonna have issues.

I am currently very happy with the class. I don't have the same complaints many others do. I don't feel like previous patches made the class impossible to play or anything like that.

However, I have a bad feeling about the upcoming patch. I'll give it a chance of course, but I have a feeling it won't bode well for us. That's just personal opinion, and we'll just have to see. But, I of course and happy with TK. In fact I was the one always getting flammed because I was saying that TKs were very viable and that the last round of patches weren't the end of the world and that the level of negativatiy and complaining on the boards was chilidish and stupid. Yeah... that didn't go over so well hehe, but you know sometimes the truth hurts.

Anyway, maybe the patch will be fine, but I'm nervous -- but I'll give it a couple weeks ot really see what it means for the class.

TC NOTES:

- Added 30 second posture change/knockdown timer
- Decreased cost of all knockdown moves
- Increased damage of all knockdown moves

Unless there is a note somewhere else that says differently this effects ALL KD and POSTION CHANGE moves, including TKA KD and LUNGE.
