bigritchie, that does nothing to answer the question, in fact it just AVOIDS the question. Can you not answer it?

CONTENT=NOT SWG is does not answer the question CONTENT=?

I'm beginning to thing people are using the "no content!" thing as an easy way to complain without actually having an argument. And before you lambast me for saying that, prove me wrong. Please, someone say something that isn't a circular argument -- give me some concrete examples of what kind of content you wanted to see.

I appreciate the post above that mentioned space content, but at the same time we all knew right up front that wouldn't be part of the game, so its seems to me that if this was a deal breaking issue we shouldn't have bought the game in the first place. I am still finding no one who is justifying the claim of no content with any kind of evidence. That is what I'd like to see...

Ok I see your point. Lack of Space content is an example. Thanks DrB.

Content varies from player to player. Some people want new places to explore, some like accomplishing difficult tasks, while others like to sit and chat with people.

There is lots of content for many types of people in this game, except one. The achiever.

Skilling your character up to what you deem as satisfactory takes relatively little time if an achiever wishes to do so (and they likely will). Once the achiever gets there, what else do they have to do? Achievers like being unique and standing out. Loot and "levels" are the most prominent ways to do this. They like getting something useful out of the things they do achieve.

"Levels" are easily "maxed" in this game, as I've already covered. So, all we have left is loot. It has been stated that loot from NPCs will never be better than player crafted loot. So, the best anyone can have, a smith is making by the hundreds out of factories. Everyone ends up with the same equipment. There's no way for the achiever to stand out.

Another massive problem I find with the content are the missions you get at static theme parks. Have you ever gone through them? They send you to a random location, to fight/talk to/escort some NPC, then you walk back. That is not fun, it's repetitive. There's no "quests" like in other MMOGs.

This may not be your playing style, but it's the playing style of practically everyone talking about "content".

I could go on and on about things an achiever "could" do, but really doesn't care to. Why? No reward.

My main problem with the content or lack there of, is the only 'good' items out there are player made, so you only have one source. While I like the idea of player made goods are useful, the fact that no good items drop off of monsters or anything like that is also unapealing to me. (Bad speller and tired give me a break hehe)

Also, atm i feel like even though i may join the rebellion or empire, i am doing as much to the story line as if i was a nuetral just sittin around jac|<in off.

Also like someone said, I was really looking forward to the possiblity of space and ships, but that wont be out for another 6months, and at least another year after that before its cool.

To me content is more then roaming randomly or doing destroy missions for exp. I admit i havent explored heavily. but for a new player it is really hard to find a good hunting spot or even a dugeon.

Also, even though the 'theme parks' are a cool idea, half of the quests are messed up or just not very interesting, great i am able to get in jabbas throne room, now what?

ok im tired and ranting, night....err morning all, forgive my bad spelling and grammar but insomniac and havent slept in over 72 hours, doubt i will this morning but ill rest my head none the less.

Lack of content:

1. GCW - Galactic Carebear War. Battlefields are about as unrealistic as it gets. Next, will have to get our moms to sign a release form before entering.Hopefully as more PA's gets involved, the servers get deBUGGED, and the professions get released from the SOE Nerf Monster, the GCW will become something besides lag-fest with swimming pool noodles.

2. No vehicles, both for travel and for war. There is one major content -- MASSIVE DOWN TIME. Travel during a high tech age almost feels like pushing Earth 2003 back to the 100 B.C. This should have be available upon release instead of Beta 4 method of travel.

3. Mystery missions don't work andtreasure maps are broken. Got Mystery?

4. The rewards just plain suck. Loot is broken and even when it works you get absolute crap after spending several minutes to kill a high level mob.

Ok, cant sleep. must rant on....

Also they need more content when it comes to mobs. Its all gnorts and chubas, then you move up to sludge panthers and etc. go from slaughtering to the one being slaughtered.

I am also tired of the only fights in the GCW are a group of imps/rebs gathering in city a to go to city b to take over for alil while. There neds to be more server wide sponsered wars. not just one little incident.

Ok, yes chef food and docs buffs are nice, they dont last at all. I wish there was something out there like cybornetic implants that could up your ham bars or stat pools, maybe a new branch off of medic/artisan hybrid profession.

had another idea but tired and cant remember, adult swim on cartoon network destracted me and lost my thought lol.

ok, will try to think of more 'content' things they could add or change.

Well, Bulbous2 what was my response to other's posts? To first push for more information, but then to thank them for examples, to concede valid points. What was you're contribution? To say that I'm assulting people making the claim that there is no content really doesn't jive with the multiple posts I've made here ackoweding well made points, or observations I hadn't considered. So say whatever you want, you're the only one being negative in this thread.

Actually, what this thread helped me understand is the ways in which people understand content differently. Of the people talking about no content and giving examples the majority of them had to do with combat. There is a massive ammount of non-combat content in this game, but I can see the point that there are also big content holes, especially centering around combat or combat fascilitating things. I also strongly agree with the observation that the monthly story arc was pretty disappointing this last time - that could have been more rich as well.

The issue is that different people see content differently, depending on what they want. I know many people personally who thing this game is a content orgy -- why? Becasue they're not looking for the same things you are. And yes, now I am getting familiar with folks who think this game is devoid of almost all meaningful content -- why? Because they're looking at something different.

So it helps me to see other perspectives. Sorry you felt you couldn't just let a thread slide without acting like a **edit**. You'll notice you're the only one in this thread doing so.

To everyone else, thanks for the interesting feedback - I definately see your points, although I confess many of those things aren't as important to me as they may be to you. But its still valid, so thanks for the info.

Content = things to do. It doesnt have to be dynamic, that would be "dynamic" content.

An example of this game's content is missions, and the worthless quests and theme parks.

More examples:

End game mobs in EQ = Content

Quests, Dynamic or otherwise = Content

Meaningful PvP = Content

Building/managing cities, businesses etc = Content

At the end of the day, think to yourself this: What can I do on a regular basis to have fun in this game after I have completed my character template? The answer is simply more of the same: imbalanced PvP, Missions, crap quests etc. There is no meaningful end game PvE, no epic-like quests, nothing spectacular. That is why people say "there is no content" in reference to this game. Maybe thats not true entirely, there just isn't any content that is worthwhile (player cities? houses? **edit** I don't play games to do this kind of **edit**).

Well, you have one thing right: Different people define "content" differently. Unfortunately, most of them are wrong. This game is rich with features, athough far from polished. It has a detailed skill tree, a PvP sytem, a PvE system, huge detailed worlds, tons of crafting options, etc. This is all built in to the game. None of this counts as "content". It is merely the framework of the game. It is the skeleton. The content is the part that fleshes out the skeleton. You can play this game without any storyline whatsoever. The Sims, for example, is a zero-content game. That doesn't mean there is nothing to do in the game, but it does mean there is no plot or direction.

I'm sure a lot of people see the detailed framework of the game and then define this as being a game with a lot of content. These people have no idea what they are talking about. For validation of this, refer to the MANY Dev posts in which they acknowledge a lack of content in the game (of course, they are working on it). "The Cries of Alderaan" would be their first step in that context. Also, please bear in mind the dozens of reviews by Industry publications which also acknowledge a lack of content at this time.

So, again, I agree with your point that many people would define "content" differently. Because of this fact, it is very foolish to ask them to define it.

Content, to me, means blunty "**edit** to do"

After you master your professions, what IS there to do?

When I hunt or kill things, it's because I want the xp, let's face it people, combat in swg isn't exactly exillerating. Tab, attack, berserk, wait, dead, loot, not find a **edit** thing.

So, after a combat class like myself reaches master, then what do you suppose I do? Content, like I said, is stuff to do, at this point theres nothing TO do but get xp and money.

Selwyyn, I want to hear what you have to say about it, I wanna know what there is to do besides kill **edit** for xp.

People can define content as whatever they want. They can define it as a ham sandwich, but it doesn't mean they are right. Go read some reviews on this game, or any game, to gain insight. Combat isn't content.

For example, take a game like Rainbow Six, or any first person shooter for that matter. It can have a detailed, deep and rich combat system with plenty of realism. That isn't content. If the game only has two missions and no editor, then it has no content.

Conversely, if the game has only one button: Shoot, but it has 400 weapons and 50 built-in levels with the ability to easily make more, it has a lot of content. It might still be a boring game, but it has a lot of content.

Grimror need not respond, because we already know where his head is up.
