We are EXTREMELY vulnerable to intimidate, stuns, dizzy, and knockdown - moreso than you if you're a fencer, swordsman, pikeman, carbineer, pistoleer, or rifleman.

This statement almost made me laugh.

Rifleman dont have kd defense, infact we have the lowest in the main combat proffessions (minus commando and bounty hunters)

Tka dont have the lowest status defense values.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

Hmm..you're right on the fishak v. brandy. Still, +800 to all mind stats from a pair of brandy is HUGE.

Correct on the snipershot, I remember Riflemen recieve a mind attack past Headshot 3, I just can't recall the name of it.

Nope. They get Headshot 1 in marksman rifles 1, headshot 2 in rifles 3 (which is probably the best of the headshots for pure DPS vs HAM usage. Slightly less powerful, but a lot less HAM usage and lesser delay), and headshot 3 in sniping 2. Beyond that, they get two mindbleeds from marksman and sniping. Beyond that, everything they have is random pool damage. A few status changes there too. I used to use rifles...

I have no problem with TKA. Heh, I just set up a macro that consist of Sprayshot; FireKD; Confusion Shot and the Crippling Shot. Because Laser Carbines are AP2 I can cut through composite.

But of course if I were to get KD/Dizzy I would be dead (unless I was wearing composite, heh).

Also if I do knock him/her down I will take out my scatter and use torso shot and eye shot (Not necessary to deplete the mind but to blind him)

TKA also get no counterattack (+100 for swordsman?), no block (+115 for pikeman?)and no dodge (+105 for fencer?). I realize that block is not the most amazing defensive skill on the planet, but it most definately better then no skill at all. There is a reason why everyone picks up fencer to stack defense and not TKA. In PVE, having only kinetic damage available is a problem, but is really no worse off then any other melee in PvP (blast, electricity, energy damage.. all equally as crappy as kinetic in most cases due to composite base resists). The game is currently living and dying by stun damage. They make one type of armor that is superior to most others and it is vulnerable in most cases to stun damage. The game is also overly reliant on mind damage and yet one of the classes that doesreally solidmind damage gets a weapon type that most people cannot resist (jawa ion rifle anyone?). The balance in PvP needs work and it's not going to happen overnight, but TKA is definately not the problem. If you are running around in a heated battle in a bikini because you think it looks funny, dont cry to me about a TKA killing you. I fought a TKA/Rifleman the other day and managed to land a stun, blind dizzy and KD as well as intimidate. I moved in and beat this guy in the head with headhit 1 for about 2 straight minutes and I could not put a dent in the guy. I was using 220+ max damage VK's (with power up) and I didn't dent him. He calmly standsknocks me down and then whips out a jawa ion rifle and shoots me in the heada couple of times for the win. PvP is not balanced, but it is most certainly not the fault of the TKA's.

For a group that focuses on balance (read martial artist) we are highly susceptible to KD whilea pistoleer can resist KDs and posture changes a lot better. All our defenses aren't superior. The ones we need however are pretty mediocre compared to pistoleer.

I also play a pikeman and I am more susceptible to KD than a pistoleer as well.

You recall incorrectly. Swordsman do not have a knockdown. Lunge2 is a knockdown, but as you are quick to point out with the 20m attacks, that is a brawler skill, not a Swordsman skill.

Actually, TKAs get all three in the form of defensive acuity. Whether that is working properly at present or not is a running question.

I really wish/hope they fix DA in the combat revamp. I think it is one of the coolest defensive mods available, and it makes sense; fighting unarmed you are going to have the versatility to be able to block, dodge or counterattack, whereas if you are weighted down with a pike, 1 or 2 handed sword, you would probably not be as mobile.

Hopefully the combat revamp will make people happy. I know I'm highly anticipating it.

*sniff* I really do<3 the concept of Defensive Acuity

Nice post! Doesn't make a difference though. The nerf criers don't actually take advice. I get killed in PvP a good amount of times myself. However, that is to people who know what they are doing. Most people don't so they lose. Then they cry.

Excellent post. But the same has been said many times before and the criers and whiners either can't read or refuse to read about anything else than nerf TK. Have been a TKM since July and have gone over the same topic over and over, sometimes directly to the char in game. For some reason they still refuse to understand.

Thank you for the post and trying when I gave up a long time ago.

If you really want to experience the true power of melee, tkm/mfencer/mswordsman. What makes you win in this game are status effects (barring the almighty poison). No melee fighter will stand a chance as you negate their main attacks. You even have a chance against template stacking dabblers If you know how to fight.

This is a great post. Sadly people are to lazy to use more than 2 attacks and think that every profession should be simplified to allow two attack combo button mashing. If you are interested in that go play a console game or try diablo.

My bad, they get a whole CRAPLOAD of posture-downs via sweeps and area attacks.

TKM get 56 melee defense. I'm up in the 80's, but that's because I have extra defense from master brawler and from being a fencer.
