Teras Kasi Archive

Thread: An unofficial explanation of what Teras Kasi is, and how it works. (Hopefully this will help.)

1 word danebo, bitter.

As for that story and the like, while it is entertaining and all that, in the scheme of the game, we will NEVER get anything CLOSE to a jedi in strength.

The best we can hope for is a balance against range and thats all. Not stronger in every facet as that story suggets, otherwise there would be no reason to hope for a force sensitive slot, we could all be TKM's and beat up jedi on a regular basis.

Try and think within the mechanics of the game, I personally liked that backstory but you have to step back and realise you will only get close to that power in you imagination (nothing wrong with that) but dont be mad when you cant be ingame.

Correct Thunderwulf, only the movies and books are official canon right? Anyway, yeah I thought in case people wanted to roleplay this gives them a basis.

TKA is official canon, but the books they came from; are not? Riiiiight, we are meant to be the equalizer to jedi (2 TKM vs 1 Jedi Knight = TKM win but not by much) is how it should be, jedis shouldn't be able to run around with free reign, darth maul displayed how powerful TKA is in episode one (dont even start on how if he was so good why did obi kill him) TKA should stand the best chance against jedi in the game, and should be able to do at least some of the things in this backdrop story of their ancestry/history.

I agree completely. Though I feel that TKA's shouldn't have been a playable class because of the balancing issues that would surface if TKA's were made as powerful as they should be.

Meant to add: Though now we are hardly doing Teras Kasi justice and it is really ruining the mystery behind the concept.

Great topic and info, Landon!

I wish there were more interesting threads like this one instead of all the cries for nerfs and insulting remarks found within these SWG forums.

Maybe TKA should have been a second profession to chose from if you got your FS slot.

And then we'd all likely be one handed weapon users griping about the same imbalances

Thunderwolf, the where that came from from the West End pen and paper role playing game before it was sold to Wizard's of the Coast. In my opinion a hunderd percent better system than the D20, system.. To **edit** easy in D20 to be a jedi... Anyways... I don't know if they would even be considered cannon or not. There are some stories about the TKA's. I keep saying I have to find the book they are in and write down the material for people.

About the midi-chlorians, my understanding of it (which keeps me from vomiting when I see that sequence of the first film) is that they are an effect, not a cause. The presence of midi-chlorians do not imbue people with a strong connection to the force. It is that strong connection to the force that draws the midi-chlorians to the subject, and by measuring the count you know that a subject has a strong connection to the force.

A real life analogy is that you're not getting laid 24/7 because you have the crabs, you have the crabs because you're getting laid 24/7. Hmm, that's not the best analogy ever though. I am in know way implying that you have the crabs (or that you're getting laid 24/7).

Building on the meditation skill, hibernation trance goes one step further. The character is no longer aware of their

surroundings. They become so relaxed, that their body becomes almost catatonic- only an intensive scrutiny will detect any

life signs. In this state the body uses far less air, and requires far less food and water. It is possible to go over a week

before truly requiring water. Unlike simple meditation, one in a hibernation trance is completely oblivious to what is going

on around them. Unless they take an actual wound it is unlikely they will wake up, even then it will take several minutes

Blah blah blah....

3D or more. This power may be kept up.

Special thanks to Charles McNeill for assistance in constructing some of these powers.

Now why can't OUR TKAs emulate these skill sets?

THAT woud be a cool class

I truely believe that the developers of SWG truely developed this game for the power gamers and not for the role-players. Before even SWG even was a concept, I was meeting every Friday night with my friends to play the D20 Star Wars pen and paper game. The developers should dug a little deeper in the history of Star Wars to learn about the TKA's before they started swinging the Nerfing bat at us.

If you follow the rest of the Teras Kasi saga, what i mean by that is after ROTJ, in the books. Do not quote me because this is just second hand. But didnt Luke eventually marry Mara Jade, who was as far as i know a Teras Kasi practioner as well as force adept.

Talk about a dangerous woman to take to bed. It seems to be that Luke is holding the fact that going back to the old Jedi code is not a good idea either, perhaps Mara convinced him of this.

And i am quite sure that she is helping him to rebuild the Jedi order in a new way. Imagine a Jedi order that are Jedi master/ Teras Kasi master. Now you are talking some powerful POWERFUL people.

Just my 2 cents, hopefully somebody can clarify some of this if not it is an interesting point in any event.
