Right now, Wookiees are at a disadvantage without armor. You will not have all the options or same resilience as a TKM counterpart with armor. Your extra stats, while useful at early skill levels, typically mean diddly and squat at advanced skill levels.

But this is all right now. I am certain that Wookiees will get some low level (I believe resist oriented) armor in future. I'm also confident that we'll see a rework of the current AR/AP system such that AR0/AP0 isn't quite so useless vs. higher AP/AR.

If you're the patient type and love your Wookiee, stick with it. You can get TKM no problem without armor and participate in a lot of game content. OTOH, if you want to put on armor and go solo-tank 2 Kamurith Defilers, then you'd probably want to reroll. My toon on Tarq is a Wookiee Fencer - an odd and sad combination, but I had a ton of fun with him.

um... armor isn't your only problem...

on my NON-wook:

I wear armor BOOTS. that's it. I might pick up a helmet later. the rest of me wears:

spec-ops jacket

padded workpants

formfitting undershirt

bandolier.

Why? Because each one has a BioE tissue in it. Sure, I miss my backpack. but +4 melee defense PER ITEM, along with +15-18 defense vs stun... I'm getting +16 melee def and +67 stun def just by getting dressed in the morning. also, it cost me (custom) 25k total.

I'd wear armor gloves, but that takes my jacket off. judging from the rate at which I reduce boots to condition zero, I'd say that armor ain't bad... but melee defense is also good.

wookiee clothing can't take much from BioE's, tissue-wise. that +10 taming bonus? a human can get more than that, and the best that YOU can do is a single +13 tissue mod'd clothing item... they can get several, at +25 (I think) each (assuming you can get enough milk to MAKE the tissue). also, the taming bonus is garbage, and will be worth even less soon.

and for those hoping for wook armor, be warned. the comment that everyone is referring to went something like: 'we are looking into adding new wookiee wearables.' which means 1) they completely dodged the question, which was armor specific, by promising 'wearables' (don't assume this includes armor), 2)and'are being looked at' and will come 'sometime in the future' means NOTHING. ask a carbinier about the future, or a chef... or whoever.

Been using 68% encub sliced ubese and it is very very good in pve. I dont have to bother intimidate mobs to survive. I can relatively easily tank level 30+ (easier mobs) even only with UA4 with my medic skills. But well wookies may well have disadvantage but get master brawler, doc, or ch for secondary profession and you will do more than fine. Also buy some bio-engineered clothing with melee/stun defences and intimidate/warcry. PvP and mind shots will be bad but well you cant always get all...

Hey there Rudious

Alright everyone, I am the friend that said that armor sucks. And ya know what, I should have been more clear on why. My apologies.

First of all, to even WEAR my full suit of composite armor that I have (which is a kick suit, let me tell ya, heres the stats:On all peices 80% kinetic, 78% electricity, 67-84% on everything else)

In PVE the ham costs are insane. As a Zabrak I have to be buffed, AND on muon gold just to get the armor ON. And due to the current broken muon gold, this takes 3 or 4 tries. I have been hunting Kamurith Defilers on Dathomir for awhile now (who hasent? ) and I was very excited to test my armor. Basically after I used stun and intimidate i was being hit for 8-10 instead of 50-60. Yes, this is a signifigant reduction in damage. However, my focus, and willpower were stuck at 150.

Now for all you know-it-alls that previously posted saying "your friend must have no idea how to use armor effectively" let me explain to you why a buffed TKM is now at a disadvantage by wearing a full suit of good armor

My focus is normally set to 450, with my willpower at 800. Now, when your buffed, ALL your ham costs come out of your mind bar, why? BECAUSE my strength and quickness are now insanely high. What makes it worse is that withthe armor on, my focus AND willpower are at 150!!

This means that my specials hurt me more than they are worth against the mob im fighting. LOL, do you know how much stun costs me in mind points with this set up? 67 MIND ham with VK, 45 without VK. Thats right, 67. Intimidate runs me 40 with VK, 20 without them. Dont even get me started on unarmedhit2 or 3 with VK on, lol TKA, you know full well that stun and intimidate dont land everytime you use them, hence why it is important to keep your ham costs low. So what happens when i have to use JUST stun and intim a few times to land them, im down to 3/4 mind. And then heavin forbid i do ANY OTHER special moves, ill just incap myself.

People will always have their own experiences in pve. Me, my armor and PVE dont get along becuase i have no regeneration rate for where my HAM is taken from. I can take out a kamurith defiler, and many other mobs that ive tried it on for that matter, much faster when im buffed, and haveno armor on.

Rudious, PVP is much different I definately agree with the people on this thread when it comes to that. You will definately want at least a helmet when a BH is spamming eyeshot on ya

For me, armor has only been effective in PvP, and I dont PvP much anyhow. Besides wanting to pick a fight it gains me nothing.

I have also been a TKM for so long, I have not had to fight really hard creatures. So, heres my final stand, and my experiences with armor. AS a TKMaster, it SUCKS in PvE, but is a life saver in PvP. So i retract my statement that it is completely worthless

I really dont see the point in starting a new character just because your Wookiee might not be as powerfull AT THE MOMENT. Trust me, there are going to be loads of changes in the future with this game. Its simply not worth wasting all the time you spent grinding with a character, because he is overlooked at the moment. The devs are going to be always tweaking this game to make if fair for all classes, but its going to take time. Wookiees are at one of the biggest disadvantages at this moment in time, and I am sure the devs realise this from the concern from other Wookiee players in SWG.

Rudious, Koozyo,

This is Lo-Bai Zheng, let's talk over the weekend about armor and what works best. I've got some data and some ideas that might help. At the very least, we can help each other understand a little better and thus grow stronger because of it.

Screw armour, I wish it was never put in the game.

None of you get the point... I don't see the disadvantage with no armour. I see no difference than a wookiee with intimidate, stun, powerboost than a human with a rifle and armor. I see NONE.

Who needs armour? Obviously, wookiee don't. Puny humans and small beings do =P
