Teras Kasi Archive
Thread: trying to find some background on TKA, its history and relation to swg
OK, got ahold of it, here it goes
Found on page 300 of the Star Wars Encyclopedia by Stephen J. Sansweet
Teräs Käsi
A form of hand-to-hand combat, roughly translated into "steel hands," that is taught in the Pacanth Reach, a remote star cluster in the Outer Rim. A mystical form of martial arts, it has long been practiced on the planet Bunduki, where it is taught by the Followers of Palawa. Its practitioners also study history, philosophy, and metaphysical subjects. [SOTE]
SOTE basically indicates where they are mentioned. From the book, Shadows of The Empire.
Will have a look through the book and see what useful information can be extracted and stated here for reference.
An extract on the pike sisters from the SW encyclopedia
Pike Sisters
Epicanthix women, they were twins. The only noticeable different between the two women was the Zan Pike had green eyes, while Zu Pike had one green eye and one blue eye. They were masters of Teräs Käsi, the Bunduki art also called steel hands. At twenty-six standard years of age the women had no political affiliations, no criminal records, and had never been defeated in open combat. They were allegedly hired by Prince Xizor's Black Sun criminal organisation as assassins. [SOTE]

Xizor steepled his fingers and raised an eyebrow at
Guri.
"The Pike sisters," Guri said, glancing at the holo.
"Genetic twins, not clones. The one on the right is Zan,
the other is Zu. Zan has green eyes, Zu has one green
and one blue eye, the only noticeable difference. They
are masters of teras kasi, the Bunduki art called 'steel
hands.' Twenty-six standard years old, no political af-
filiations, no criminal records in any of the major sys-
tems, and, as far as we are able to determine,
completely amoral. They are for hire to the highest bid-
der, and they have never worked for Black Sun. They
have also never been defeated in open combat. This"—
she nodded at the unmoving holoproj image again—"is
what they do for fun when they aren't working."
Guri's voice was, in contrast to her appearance, warm,
inviting, a rich alto. She activated the hologram.
Xizor smiled, revealing his own perfect teeth. The
holo had shown the two women mopping the floor
with eight Imperial stormtroopers in some rat's nest of
a spaceport bar. The soldiers had been big, strong, well
trained, and armed. The women weren't even breathing
hard when they finished. "They'll do," he said. "Make
it happen."
sure, but can you find anything that does? the only record available that i found thats official is from SOTE and the encyclopedia. It also dependswhat can be or cant be considered as truth. For example, my next place to look is the book called Tales of the Tatooine Cantina. there might be something that talks about the pikesisters which may speak of the art. Even if it did, could that really be a point of reference?
I said the expanded universe (books and comics) is official. That basically means it's included in the star wars universe so long as it does not contradict anything that is cannon. If you find anything in 'Tales of Mose Eisley Cantina' tell me the page numbers so that I can check it out.
this is a GREAT POST!
official or not makes no difference what so ever. this is awsome reading and now i am caught up in finding what i can myself.
thank you VERY MUCH for all of your hard work
/cheer
Basically the Pike sisters whipe the floor with 8 imperial troopers without even breaking a sweat.
So like I've said before there may be credibility to the jedi/force thing after all
