Devs have siad a couple different times recently that only Bestine and (?)Eisley are set up for new players. The mobs everywhere else are too hard. But as was just said, chill peeps. Its barely been 6 hours since it came up. Lots of time to fix it. As to the icons and stuff, I think they are great. And there are some monochrome ones still there for the die-hards.
Everyone is so used to walking up to 99.8% of things in this game without a second thought, and they have been spoiled. Stay away from Nuna's, and all butterflies will likely mean incap really quick. Pick your battles. Focus on the task at hand, instead of the "gotta master or cap XP in 6 hours" mindset many people find themselves in.
1. They have had this in planning for months and have dragged people along that otherwise would have quit. In hopes this would make the game better and this is what we get?
2. Nobody should get killed by a small flightless bird or a butterfly. When was the last time a chicken knocked you out?
3. What kind of crack are you on. The icons simply suck. I'm sorry to whatever ever art departmentperson came up with or had to make thoughs, but that was the wrongstyle to do.. They better leave the old ones in if they are going to add that stuff.
All they needed to do is balance the game not change the hole idea of it. They could have kept 90% of the game the same and made it better and I think that is what most people expected. The hole skill icon thing blinking and filling up. Whatever EQ style crap is going on there needs to go.
Struggling up from no skill points to a master prof is going to be hard, and they've disabled elite profs atm.
Here are the big killer for TKs.
1) You can't equip _any_ weapon without having a cert for it. This makes the grind up to TKN hard (they could have at least put in knuckle-dusters or something, especially the speed at brawler, cause it's crap.
2) There is no queue. You have to select which move to do next, as the other one is cooling down. This could lead I feel to alot of tiring repetive button presses.
3) If you are attack, you do not automatically attack back. If you leave it, they will continue to attack you unless you do something about it. This is the most inherently stupid thing so far.

So it looks like the best bet is get novice commando to get the massassi, grind up to expert power with the massassi, and only at that point move onto a better knuckler. With commando being far easier to get, it'll save some time. Once I have a poke at the new abilities I'll post again.

I've got the day off work btw (no I didn't take it of especially, its just how it fell
Ramona_Garcia wrote:Well, question is, does unarmed damage modifier and knuckler damage still stack?
no one knows, nor can know at present. Elites are turned off completly so we cant get that far. (:
my observations, from the skill tree, the lack of any armour modifiers indicates we tank unarmoured, using high defences to stay alive.
Progression seems to work reasonable through the brawler trees, but heres a tip.
soloing white cons yields between 30 and 80 xp per kill depending on what level unarmed you are.
levelling in a group of 5 or 6, white cons give everyone in thegroup 220 is xp per kill.
So, it seems grouping is very beneficial.
In the feedback thread I have expressed concern as to the level of penalty fopr soloing, a bonus for grouping is nice for sure, but nearly 700% more is probably OTT.
I think the need to relearn our skills , using taunts and aggro management is what lies in store at elite testing, it really is a whole new game , but a very interesting one indeed.
the interupt type specials and new tactics make combat much more involving.
And for PvP, beware, riflemen get specials that cure stun dizzy and blind immediately, sp are not quite as fragile as the past.(excluding stackers).
Line of sight has worked well , although the place is real laggy and I had a few range issues, mainly because of mobs warping around.
I beleive that is an issue soley of the testing environment though.
No spin attack...
Looks like we're destined to do one-on-one. Which is crap for tanking.
Ramona_Garcia wrote:Since we get 2h sword 4 as well, what specials and abilities does that brawler tree give to us?
Same as Novice Brawler. Then:
Two-Handed Tree
Two-Handed I
Melee Strike (handy, as we only get this at 2 in unarmed)
2h Melee Accuracy +15
2h Melee Defense +10
2h Melee Speed +5
Two-Handed II
Lunge (which we get at 3)
Two-Handed Axe Cert.
2h Melee Accuracy +15
2h Melee Defense +10
2h Melee Speed +10
Two-Handed III
Centre of Being (which we get at 1...)
2h Melee Accuracy +15
2h Melee Defense +10
2h Melee Speed +5
Two-Handed IV
Armour Break. Reduces your targets armour effectiveness (could be handy, but it would mean switching weapons)
Two-Handed Cleaver Cert
2h Melee Accuracy +20
2h Melee Defense +10
2h Melee Speed +10
Ramona_Garcia wrote:Hmm... can't use any melee special you know with any melee weapon you a re certed for? Armor break would be really nice if we could do it barehanded.
Not sure. So far I've slaughtered about 50 kreetle because they only just manage to not kill me, and I've not even filled unarmed 1 yet :-(
I'm really really worried about not being able to do spin attack.
My main areas of concern, that would take no time at all to change and are quite feasible:
1) Combat queue - bring it back!
2) Reactionary attacking - I don't want to have to sit and watch the monitor every single second during a fight, especially the kinda speeds that TK are renouned for. I want to do what we can do now - hit the attack button, or get attacked, and carry on attacking normally unless the user decides to do something else. It'll be a nightmare to try and not miss any 'turns' with specials and things. And what if I want to go off and get a cup of tea? (Can you belive they wouldn't let me post 'n ip' because it's prohibited? w tf? -Sorted! You can press ctrl then the action, and it auto uses it for you till you stop. Happy Kye
3) Change 2-handed for polearm. It's more logical.
4) Remove the Commandos getting the massassi VK, or make every other elite profession access to a unique weapon from their 'alternative' skill branch. i.e. they get their VK that only they can use - and the commando gear - so we should get TK gear and our own 2-handed (or polearm) weapon. Same goes for all of them. Makes it fair and a bit varied for each profession.
5) Where has spin attack gone!
