Pikemen are better against multiple targets. They get a weapon and do 1k plus damage without specials. They have multiple cone hits ... including the pimp cone knockdown. Pikemen rock if your not a heavy PvP. TKA dominate PvP ... but a pikemen would rock any TKA PvE.

NO IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT THIS GAME TRYS TO BE AS CLOSE TO REAL LIFE AS POSSOBLE AND A TKA VS AN PIKEMAN BOTH EQUAL IN THE RESPECTED PROFESSIONS A TKA WOULDNT BE ABLE TO GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO A PM THE POLE ARM IS AS TALL OR TALLER THAN THE USER THE WHOLE POINT OF A PM TO KEEP HIS ENEMY AT BAY 2 HITS WOULD AND SHOULD KILL A TKA NOW PROVIDED THAT YOU DO GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO HIT A PM THEN YES YOU DO AS MUCH DAMAGE BUT IN REAL LIFE I USED POLEARMS IN MARTAL ARTS AND YOU HAVE TO BE DAMM GOOD TO EVEN GET CLOSE TO A PM ANYWAYS BOTH PROFESSION ARE GOOD TO HAVE BUT PM IS BETTER IF THE PROGRAMERS DO IT THE RIGHT WAY AND THINK OF THE PHYSICS INVOLVED IN IT

i didnt say it was longer than 2 people i said it is as tall or taller than the user and i did say a wooden staff i said a counter balenced ploearm which is not a staff....... you guys need to pay more attention to what you are reading also i said that a pm could hold off a tka but at the same time if the tka was able to get in he would be able to do equal amount of damage...... all i was trying to say is make the pm and tka more equal not pm the strongest that would take out the fun in the game...... anyways like before id like to see improvements in the pm.

Every elite profession is powerful in its own way. Making all them equal spoils the game instead of making it better. TKA are supposed to be a lot more powerful in starwars, only next to the Jedi (It is explained in the previous Starwars game called Masters of Teras Kasi by Lucasarts). However the professions here are made in a way to make it all effective in the right hands. Also, for an unarmed martial artist to level an armed opponent especially with big and powerful weapons, it doesn't take a lot of time. This is from real life experience. And we are talking about starwars. Powers are exaggerated in science fiction, and certain things need to stay true to Starwars, and Pikemen, fencors are created in the game just to add more variety, and every profession is made in a way that if know how to play well, all elite professions are effective, and the other point is to use the remaining skill points wisely.

Real life situations really don't play a part in the person's question or the answer for it. TK will currently own Pikemen in the game. The Pikeman profession is heavily lacking in functional offense from what I can tell. As a master fencer I win about 50% of the fights againt TK, 80% against two handed swordsman, and I've never lost to a Pikeman. In fact, I don't ever remember being close to being beaten by one.

It is true that the pikeman profession is broken currently, and only the TKA, Fencer and Swordsman professions are working decently. What I mentioned about any profession being good in the right hands, is assuming that the pikeman profession would soon be fixed in an upcoming patch.

However, it has nothing to do with TKA being strong or Fencers being strong. Like what happened withmany other professions before, we could only wait till the pikemen are fixed to make that an enjoyable profession for those who take it. I agree that the Ham costs are insane compared to the low speed. Right now comparing a fight with TKA vs Pikeman is pointless since we all know it is broken. Not to mention TKAs wereintended to beplayer tanks who can dovery good damage and takegood damage in close quarters. Still with the right tactics theycould be defeated.I've seen Fencors and Heavy Swordsmen take down TKMs with the right tactics and the other way around.

So there is no point int comparing Pikeman vs TKA/Fencer/Heavy Swordsman/Any other profession. All we can do is wait till the profession is fixed.

Yeah TKA doesn't need to be nerfed, I think they are pretty well balanced except in one minor thing. Damage mitigation effects us all, and TKMs are the least effected. Other then that TKA is pretty much where they are supposed to be. On the other hand the other brawlers need some boosts, and changes. Pikemen need a giant boost, and a lot of changes.

I am sorry, but not all professions are equal especially pikemen. They aren't one of the least played professions for nothing, and I know for a fact many want to play them due to the cool factor of a pike, but don't because they are not very good. Yes they can do bleeds, but the bleeds are as good as swordsmen. The real problem is they do not excel at anything good. They miss more then anyone, they do less damage then swordsmen or TKMs, their attacks are less varied then a TKA or fencer. Their defenses are about the same or worst then swordsmen due to block sucking, and the HAM costs are the most out of any profession in the game. Did I mention they are slow? This is coming from a master swordsmen, and I can tell you pikemen are just at the bottom of the brawler professions, they may be slightly good at a few things, but they totally blow at everything else. No AP2 weapon or 2k bleed will bridge that gap with so many other flaws.

lol just to give an idea of my(master pikeman) chance of winning a duel against a tkm after the 12/16 update:

i use a 36-366 damage basic lance for duels because of ham costs and its a bit faster than my lva. i found a master tk at the starport and asked if we could test out the mitigation stuffs. he agreed and we started. he killed me in about 3 hits maybe 4 (it was too fast and i didnt wanna look at combat tab) i got healed then he let me have a go at him. my auto attack with the basic lance was doing from 19-25, i was a bit saddened by this and switched to my lva to use ph3. i missed 6 times in a rowsomehow (ryschate and tat sunburn so ham cost was only around 100) then i hit! 188 damage with my 100-something to 462 damage lva. i hit again for something in the 160s. lol anyways it was over after that. oh yes his specials did 350+ with no vks (i think).

before mitigation i had a chance of beating tks, a slim chance but i killed a few (that is if they didnt stick dizzy and didnt notice) but now even if i try i cant even get close. doesnt look like mitigation is gonna be taken out so it'll prolly be like this for a while.

lol just thought u might wanna know how my battle went.

If a master tka has a template of master brawler, master tka, master fencer, defensive trees in swordsman and pikeman, or the defensive trees from other professions (there are quite a lot of templates), it is quite normal to see damages like that. A master TKA could do around 30-50 normal dmg and aorund 100 special dmg to similar defensive builds by other professions, all considering how the battle is played. It is all quite normal and mitigation is not limited to TKA, and it is a person's choice to get what other profession(s) with TKA.

And again, since I see proficient TK masters being killed by fencors, heavy swordsmen, pistoleers, bhs, carbineers and even pikemen, I know that there is nothing wrong with TKA and that a player with any elite profession who knows how to use skill points and how to do pvp properly could defeat the TKM.

There is no point in a TKA vs Pikeman analysis especially because of the above facts, and I am not even going into the fact about why TKA are supposed to be quite powerful. In the game every profession is quite good, and I have seen it, and see it everyday. There are some issues with pikemen that need to be fixed, but that doesn't mean a master Pikeman is going to do ultra damages to a TKM or that he would do more damage than a TKM because, it all depends upon several factors, and it could be either way, not only with Pikemen but with other elite professions as well.

A TKM is supposed to get more defenses and be true to the title player tank, after several already broken TKA defenses would get fixed eventually. Eventhen, a player would be able to hold on his own with any elite profession, with the right tactics.
