I am a commando who got my holocron today saying that I needed to master tka. I personally was dreading the grind up to tk novice myself. I remember grinding up to unarmed 4 for commando and it wasn't pleasant.

I tried bleeds and didn't really like it; it was way too slow. So I got myself buffed well and I found that with beserk, a fast knuckler (2.2 as) and my nice composite armor (chest 56%, helm 74%, pants 66%) I could take down con red mobs fairly easily. In fact I finished 124K unarmed in a little over 3 hours, killing rontos, greater womp rats and squills. I actually enjoyed the grind and am looking forward to working more on tka.

i could be wrong but perhaps you are looking at it the wrong way.

i am working on Teris Kasi Novice right now. i got 88k of the required 125k yesterday solokilling Banthas of all kinds (red and yellow cons all)using vibroknucklers that i am not cretified to use. i will finish the box this morning.the knucklershave been sliced to a 1.7 speed so i am using the 'three nickles to one dime' approch. i hit so fast that i do more damage in one minute WITH the knucklers than without.

what i am driving at is that we DO have access to an elite level weapon before novice it is just not as effective as it could be. the great thing is that once we hit novice, the VERY SAME WEAPON you have been using becomes even MORE effective. no need to run out and buy the next level up allowed by your advancement.

again perhaps i am just being too optimistic about the situation, but i am enjoying my experience as a TK Student and am looking forward to the jump in damage when i am qualified to use my knucklers

Hehe...just remembering....I started this game the day of release...well...the day after really...day of release you could not play for more than 5 minutes and had to recreate your character every time the server crashed. In any case, I planned to be TKA from day one and just remember that VK's were ceritified in the unarmed 3 box. They soon moved it to the novice TKA box. Maybe folks were getting to TKA novice too fast? Don't know. I am not a power leveler by any means, in fact just got Master TKA a week ago. The grind up the TKA novice tree can be a tough one. But just stick with it. The rewards are, like many have said, well worth it.

i got Novice tka in just 2 hours with buffs on dantooine get some pikets longhorn missions and kill em like 3500xp per kill

TKA isnt really that hard to grind... I got from Novice brawler to TKN in a week of moderate playing. And I could have done it much faster if I was a master doc
