I can't speak to the fencer part of your question, but I am TKM and doc 0440 and can say you don't need more doc for the buffs. I use my 110 med droid, +25 clothes, good biv, and excellent qual buffs which I buy. My buffs are only about 200 points lower than they were when I was a master doc. I can live without 200 points to free up 29 skill points.

but you can't heal your state effects (fire,poision,disease) - and you can't meditate in a long pvp battle. doesn't that bother you?
