Thread: TKM and Soloing a Krayt

My Template is TKM / MD.

I tried to solo an adult canyonKrayt once. With full buffs, and 80% kinetic composite armor it dropped me in less than a minute. It was doing several hundred damage each attack through my armor, AND it had a point blank ranged attack whichI have no mitigation for.

Also, be aware that you're talking about a creature with 300,000 HAM, 85-90% Kinetic Resists, and Heavy armor. My unarmed attack does 2400 damage with '/unarmed hit 3' but if you modify that for the armor and resists(.5*.5*.15), you're looking at your best attack doing no more than 90 damage. The Krayt regenerates faster than that. Even if it didn't regenerate, you would have to hit itwith yourbest attack 3,333 times. Assuming you hit every 2 seconds, that's 1 hour51 minutes. Meanwhile theKrayt will be hitting you back for much more.

I know it was possible, and easy, to solo the old 30k HAM Krayts. A lone TKM might be able to solo the junior Krayts, but not the 300k HAM monsters.

You can solo a regular krayt dragon, but will need to heal from time to time.. Of course you need buffs and good armor. It will take you probably a couple hours to kill one, by that time though another group will probably steal it from you. Juveniles take like 20 minutes or less. Giants you have no chance..

If you really wanna solo a krayt just go cm/smuggler. Stack up diseases/poisons and feign death.

Soloing krayts stuck on harvesters is called exploiting, not soloing.

Anyhow, here's the deal with soloing krayts. I used to do it all the time, so listen. I've solo'd everything from juv to giant, never done an ancient but that is only because I never had the fortune to come across one at a time when I was alone. The same tactics apply to all of them, the difference is only how long you have to employ the tactics for.

The problem with a krayt is not the damage that it dishes out to a TKM. With buffs and armor, as well as continual intimidation, you can take their normal damage output of about 1500dmg to a TKM down to recieving about 40 damage per hit. That is nothing. You can TANK a krayt until your buffs wear out, and even then you can continue for quite a while

The problem with soloing a krayt as a TKM is the amount of damage you do it it. TKM, with our light armor piercing, can only do about 20 damage per hit to a krayt. Lets do some math here. Average Krayt has 350k in all 3 pools. Lets concentrate on the mind pool since our mind hit is our most powerful focused hit, and will kill it the fastest. With VKs, after you factor in the krayts heavy armor rating and 90% resists, you hit the krayt for a maximum of about 20 damage per hit if my math is correct. AT 350k ham, it would take you 4 hours and 51 minutes to eat through 350k mind at 20 damage per hit, hitting at 1 time per second. Buffs dont last that long. So you would need to be rebuffed halfway through it. Also in a 5 hour battle with a krayt your Ubese will be gone, I go through about 9000 condition of a brand new ubese jacket soloing a krayt, and my method takes about 45 minutes. So your armor wouldn't hold out and you'd have to change your armor, which sucks but obviously can be done.

So within reason, a TKM cannot solo a krayt. He would need someone available to rebuff him, and the definition of soloing a krayt is doing it by yourself with no outside help. I'm not sure if docs can buff themselves while in combat?

So basically the deal is that a TKM can handle a krayt's damage just fine, but can't deal enough damage himself to kill the krayt in any reasonable period. You need some other mechanism of DEALING damage, whether it be bleeds, combat medic poisons, fire, or a gun.

So, yes you can solo a krayt, like I said it has been done innumerable times, but you you need to have another profession, or some absolutely wicked DOT VKs, to do it before your armor or buffs wear out.

Try 2 protectors, 1 ranger, 2 sentinels, and a spellweaver at once... Kill the spelleweavers first (They like to heal everyone) then go for the easy ones like the rangers and sentinels, and then kill the protectors. There's nothing to it-- I do it all the time.

Yes they can.

Using only TKA skills to deal damage? That would take a really long time. Longer than buffs last. I suppose someone could jump on their bike and get out of range so they can buff themselves back up. Or do you mean some other way.

The people who use harvestors to solo large creatures (krayt or GSDK) i love to get killed, i simply throw on all my armor, hit the beast and let it aggro me, then run around the harvestor then burst run towards the person or group trying to take it down. i have gotten many groups killed this way!

so exploiters beware! there may be a pissed of tka near you!
