Teras Kasi Archive
Thread: 2nd Teras Kasi report submitted..
I propose something slightly different for the meditate tree.
I see a huge looming problem in that Teras Ksai have no armor penetration without vibroknuckles, and even then its only light. Other "elite" melee classes have at least medium penetration upon attaining novice.
Teras Ksai are supposed to be pseudo-force-sensitive warriors who channel energy into their attacks.
I propose that the meditate tree allows for short term boosts to the natural armor penetration of our attacks. This would have the effect of slightly increasing damage against unarmored opponents, greatly increasing against other tanks. To compensate for the penetration, a debuff to focus and willpower for the same duration would be appropriate. (wounds - a no-no. especially mind wounds. I will never ever use an ability that causes mind wounds unless it turns me into a game-breaking god)To even give it an 'artist' feel, you could specify a necessary meditation time to activate each buff.
Looks good to me. Not all of my personal pet peeves got in there, but I agree that all of those issues need to be looked at. Thanks for sticking with this.
I'd recommend overhauling the "combo" moves in addition to drastically improving the Power Boost skill.
Also, the extra damage they promised us seems to be non-existent.
It might be worth adding that the combo3 is not computing data correctly, but that's (IMO) minor compared with these new ham costs. Twice last night I wasn't watching my combat queue closely enough and hit KD while equipped and it cost me the battle. That's a crazy HAM cost.
I'm very afraid we are going to get "yep, we looked it over, and it's all just like we want it", but this is our window of opportunity. If they are going to give pistoleer's flourishes then it's not wholly unreasonable to ask for what you wanted.
Some of the problems that I didn't mention specifically were covered in the last report. They say they are looking into it, so what else can I do? I'm not going to submit the same report over and over each week until they fix it. There are other issues that need attention.Someother issues like shooting through terrain or the negative range modifier were covered by other correspondents so I didn't think it would help to repeat them since a fix for them naturally means a fix for us.
As for things like Kata and Body enhancement, I thought I would throw some new ideas at them. In the Pistoleer response, it sounded like they reacted favorably to these kind of suggestions so I thought I would try my luck.
But im not going to resubmit. My brain is overloaded with TK info as it is. I spent all moring trying to write up this info andgoing over and over it again won't do much for my sanity.
You've done a fine job Thunder, it's just to bad our class has so many problems that even two weeks worth of top 5 problems still doesn't resolve anything, and infact they made it worse haha.. ( i laugh so i don't cry
)
Your doing a fine job man, i was just making a statement earlier, not an attack at you. Sorry if it came off that way.
Bravo Thunderwulf! Well said. I concur with every point.
Kwisax - TKA
Eclipse
Here is a thought on how to fix the TKA.
Focus on the A of the title. We are Artists. What we all want to be is a Teras Kasi Warrior. I suggest that when Elite-Elite professions are rolled out, that the TKA get's a new elite-elite profession called the Teras Kasi Warrior. Then all the defensive andoffensive skills we need to 'fix' our class can be rolled into that new profession. So here would be the four tracks. Track 1. Defensive.(blocking and hardening, reduce health costs for all manuvers) Track 2. Offensive. (Focus on attacks while moving, recude Action Costs for all manuvers) Track 3. Exotic Weapons. (Each level gets a new weapon) Track 4. Mental Techniques (reduce Mind costs for manuvers)
Then when this is done you can modify the TKA tree a bit.Meditation could then add a skill which would be like the dancers flourishs where a TKA could meditate/practice his skills by doing a martial arts routine. So the Artist who is 'meditating' would /startTKARoutine and then perform the manuvers of the TKA to put on a martial arts show. XP gained would be like the dancers/musicians track, you would get reduced unarmed combat XP for doing each manuver you did along with med. XP (like Music and Entertainer_healing XP). Now when you get to TKW you can no longer use the XP from meditate manuvers to advance, the only way to get XP for the TKW would be to defeat someone/thing in combat.
Of course this would all need to be balanced, but this approach is a lot more realistic towards a martial artist/warrior as well as fixes many of the problems with the TKA tree.
I'd like to see them put back the ualunge damageand place ualunge2 back into the TK skill trees.
Lunges did make ranged professions fear TK in beta, because we could stop them kiting and do damage at the same time. They should add damage back into lunges or remove all damage from every professions posture change and KD specials.
All the nerfing that has happened now waspartly started inend of beta by ranged professions crying that TK was over powered because we had a 15meter range lunge KD. Kind of amusing that they don't appear tothink a 64meter ranged KD is now.
*Charge to combatability *
Could add a charge ability that could be used like beserk is now same length of time, chance to failetc. It would act like a burst run and a improved auto attack-follow within melee range.Could balance it like they did berserk, by not being able to use specials while it's in effect.

looks cool for me only criticism I have is, do you think it is the time to ask for a Kata? I mean isn't that something kind of frivilous? You know asking for pistol twirls? Sure it would be sweet, but at the current time I don't think it really fits with our main concerns.
The kata skill that was asked for in the report looks to be more of a self buff to me. You perform the kata, and by doing so you calm yourself and focus your energies, resulting in some sort of statistical improvement. The animation for such may be frivolous, yes, but the effect would be something nice to have for the meditation line (kind of like Power Boost, only not sucky).
My suggestion for you, Thunderwulf, is to preview the complete text of the report to us no less than once before submitting, just so we can be sure that everything that needs to be said is said. There were some valid points made about specials being further broken with the latest patch that probably should have been in the report. Otherwise, great job.
