Truely wierd. Im 1/3/1/1 in fencer and I can power boost just fine. Maybe you do need to be unarmedto use power boost. Don't remember if I've boosted with a sword in hand though.

It was changed a while back to only take into account your base non-woundmind stat. Before the change you could use food, spices etc... to boost your mind then powerboost giving huge stat boosts.

Power boost only takes your base mind stat (minus wounds)into account. At one point it used the modified stat, but that was changed 2-3 publishes ago. (Fix or Nerf all depends on your point of view.)

Just got powerboost, and either I'm confused about the way it works, or something's wrong with it.
From what I understand after reading the faq, it should halve my mind, and start applying that amount to my health and action, as well as my mind after a certain amount of time. However, that's not the way it seems to be working. I usually have a brandy or 2 going while playing, and what seems to be happening is that the modifier from the brandy is being halved instead of my overall mind pool. For example, I have 1000 mind, and after brandy it's at 1810. I would think that the overall boost would be 905 (.5 x 1810) but instead it's 405 (.5 x 810).

It should be half of your normal mind pool - in your case 500 ( 1000 / 2 ). Check again, if it's not then there may be a bug.

The boost should be half your base mind pool less whatever wounds you have. The code takes into account your base mind pool and your wounds but not any buffs. From your example you should be getting a 500 boost if you have no wounds.

I usualy meditate to drop all my mind/stat wounds then power boost, it drops your mind to 1/2 you base non-buffed mind then over the next half minuet increases to 1.5 your unbuffed mind, as well as adding 1/2 mind value to your health and action. the down side is that it does not last anywhere near as long as would be liked

So the faq is wrong when it says powerboost includes buffs in the boost?

Yep. Can you imagine (base + ent buff + 2 brandy + 3 canapes + muon) x 0.5 added to all primary HAM stats? People would cry 'NERF THE TKA' even more than they do now.

YOu have wounds man?
whenever I have wounds my powerboost takes the wounds into account and takes half my mind from that

Actually, Powerboost use to include your buffs as well, so people were indeed getting entertainer buffs, taking fishack + muron, and then powerboosting! This was nerfed just before I got the meditation ability
