CoB, half the time they miss, stopping shot has a long cool down timer, concussion I belive now has a very long cool down timer but that's a paralysis now. With CoB running damage done is greatly reduced leaving healing or stims very effective for the little damage you are taking.

Parwin Cake give you instant burst run, very effective for taking out kiters and closing the cap. Fencer has a snare as well which is useful.

Laser Rifle. I don't care what your template, everyone should have these. I've taken out non healing ranged with an ALR simply becuase they could not heal, I could.

If all else fails, break line of Site. A good kiter can keep you are distance all day long. Don't play thier game, run the other way, towards buildings or at least cover. Don't cry when a ranged beats you out in the open. They a ranged they're meant to be good a distant combat. You are melee and excel in close combat. Run into a building, it might end in a stand off but if they are stupid enough to follow you in they are dead. If you can't kill them in close combat then you may want to think about what you are doing wrong.

When I was a MRifle/MBH it would have taken a miracle for a melee class to beat me.

I can beat ranged in duels when we are in the building, in the open area with nothing to hide behind its almost guaranteed that you will lose. Your best bet is to break the LOS of the attacker and force him to come close to you.

i took on 2 ranged in the middle of dantooine and beat them both

What can I say. They suck at PvP.

or it could be that i let them run there action down from specials then through on a burst and mess them up when they had nothin

I hate to say it but the problem is in your template...without medical skills in duels and in small action pvp you will not be nearly as effective. Ranged for me are like flys to be swatted away in most cases. So unless you have the ability to take them down extremely fast(Uber PH or VL or whatever) your not going to beat ranged in most cases just because they can kite, snare, root, kd, and got forbid ar CMs too and have all the nasty paralizes. I recommend changing templates if ranged are to much of a problem. Otherwise stims with ruby biel and/or synthstake are your only options and arent good ones because they use up your ability to use other food and drink.

Just sit there and take it. Once the root is finished run at the ranged fighter and KD them. Armorbreak and dizzy and stick on them, get stims and ruby bliel for healing. Ranged don't have anywhere near the same defense as you and keep CoB up, even if you have to stop to use it, never let it drop off your buff bar. Practice makes perfect.

Has anyone found a method to effectively combat concussion shot?

Yes, wait until your opponent tries to damage you, concussion shot breaks on damage completly for quite some time now and cannot be reapplied instantly after it got broken since a week or so (same as with all other "mezzes", concussion shot is a mez, not a pure root). The cooldown on stopping shot as a pure root attack that does not break on damage is quite long compared to the small duration so again, chainrooting in a 1 vs 1 situation is simply not at all possible anymore.

my answer to root is to hit em w/ my DOTs and pull out my laser rifle. (i have no rifle skills, just have laser rifle to deal w/ root) that and keep myself healed.

I love to KD when I see a root comming along, then slam them with a lunge or two then heal when there 11m+away. Also this is a fun fact, when you /dance and are close to a building you move in the root. I was duelinga ranged. I was rooted by a building as I used /dance and it danced me out of sight and he only had time to hit me once....just a fun fact

tip:Learn to controll the direction you go when useing /dance, it may save your life =)

found another solution last night.

A Laser rifle with max damage 11xx. Only requirement is a CL of greater than 55.

Unfortunately you do need some serious cash or a friendly WS.

let them root. I still hit for 800 damage after armour. Never seen someone so shocked

How did you hit 800 with no Rifle skills? I recently hada trando rifle made and popped off 3 shots before I sold it. It was about 1100 damage and it was only hitting a non defender jedi for a little over 400. Now 400's better than nothing when you're rooted but if I could hit for 800 on people I'd probably put the saber down in large fights and do some snipin. You sure it was 800?

I acutally use the triple mastery of swords/tka/fencer, and I just use the 1100 stims which work perfectly for me because i can take alot of damage and by the time I need to use another stim the 60 seconds is done, cripple hit from fencer snares the ranged guy then I just kd him use armorbreak and start pounding away. Action regen foods help alot also.
