If you're considering the Nightblade, it's a little off topic. It would make a nice thread, but as far as the Katarns, (and to set people strait and not waiste their money like I did on speed slice) go for Damage slice ALWAYS. Unless someone knows how to dramatically increase damage beyond an already damage PUP'd speed sliced Katarns, you'll never see 800+ DPS. It's a waiste of money. I don't think anyaddition character abilities or food is going to put you into that terrortory. So...


Speed Slice + Damage pup= 600 DPS (600k credit slice and Katarns wasted)


Damage Slice + Speed pup= 875 DPS


We aren't playing golf so higher is better here folks

I'd probably go for all damage +2 crit just in case they ever fix criticals. They look plenty fast for me stock.

Good points about the effects of PUPs. I didn't want to use them to keep it simple.I will pick up some maxed out pups next few days and post results. I didn't think that there would be that much of a difference between speed and dmg pup. I dot usually pay too much attention to dps but clearly on a default attack dmg slice with a speed pup looks much better. I am also curious how sac reducing PUP would effect things.

Pardon me while I take my foot out of my mouth. I took my speed sliced Katarns and added a speed pup to it. If you're taking DPS, this is king. 914 DPS w/ 34.86% speed -28 accuracy pup:

That'd be great if you like doing superfast auto attacks and don't mind wasting your action in three seconds from specials. I still think DPS is a "fluff" stat. I'm more intrested in DPSAC. You also realize that you are hurting your own damage by adding a PUP that subtracts accuracy, right?

wouldn't the katarn's have higher dmg b/c of the extra 120 elemental dmg?(also, elemental dmg is figured into DPS)


katarn 772+120= 892


nightblade 807


also the katarn's would have a higher min 386+120= 506 vs 403

Dunno, a nightblade with a damage PUP would be doing some seriously nasty damage per hit. It will also gain more damage with a damage PUP than the Katarn since it does more damage. I'm trying to buy one if I can ever reach the guy I've been e-mailing. I know I sliced one for another guy last week, and the stats were pretty nice.With a PUP, that'sover 900 damage per hit.


Another thing we haven't been considering... how does armor resists figure into this? Will you do more damage by hitting a little slower with more damage, or faster with less damage? Also, it was reported by JFreemanin the smuggler forum that the critical hits not doing extra damage without a critical skill is a bug, and *should* be fixed next publish.


Well I did some more figuring, I use powerups that add about 20% more damage... so with those a nightblade would be about 960ish max, but the katarn would still have it beat when you add in the cold damage. This still isn't figuring in armor resists though, or even criticals when they get working. Either way, they are both pretty good weapons, and the only two worth using at TKM.

I have been testing this too long, can you guys with 881 DPS and 917 DPS post please your Skill Unarmed damage, Unarmed Accuracy and Unarmed speed. I am just curious how good stats you have to do such damage.
