Thread: Overpowered? don't think so!
you're kidding me, right? you're trying to compare modern real-life to the star wars universe? lol, tell you what - i'll come at you & your gun, with a pair of brass knuckles...
and a full suit of high-resistance composite - and medical enhancementsup the wazoo - after having watched entertainers for 10 minutes to expand my mind.
please don't compare star wars & your thoughts on how the game mechanics should work to modern reality. it's really really *really* short-sighted, narrow-minded, & weak. it doesn't work.
This isn't real life asshat, this is a game.
It wouldn't be cool if any range profession could just one shot kill a melee profession in a game.
for the 80 billionth time.....TKM=KINETIC ONLY!!! OTHER MELEES WEAR COMPOSITE 80%+ TKM OWNED
Sick and tired of the same rubbish being written here by non TKMs go back to your own boards and prioritise your own NON WORKING professions instead the working ones ![]()
Hi fello TKs btw, was former TKM now a Pistoleer
mind you TKM hasnt got me yet touch wood... strangely I stay at least 20m away and wear composite odd that eh ![]()
Keep flying the TK flag it is the coolest prof in the game.
/agree.
It's amazing how people overlook the fact that TK only does kinetic damage and has a limited range. Anything with a high kinetic resist will present an TKer with problems.
And it's also amazing that people don't take into account other factors involved. Someone commented last night that a TKM killing a kimo on Lok demonstrated that TK was overpowered, oblivious to the fact that the guy was also a master doc, buffed to the eyeballs, and wearing decentsliced comp armor. His HAM was barely moving. Is that down to TK? Of course not. Any person with decent combat skills could take out that kimo if they were buffed that high and wearing comp armor and chose the right sort of damage.
Made novice tka yesterday and i love it. Ive done alot of the other combat profs in my grind and this one rules.
Only query i have is the +70 unarmed damage awarded at novice? This cant be right can it?
Well I'll be honest now, and say I've never played a PvP match with TK, so I'm basing my judgements on what I've seen (TK losing quite a bit) and others peoples opinions (in game and in this forum). If there is a killer-combo that can win most PvP fights then yes I agree, it needs to be nerfed for PvP. But this should have - at most - a marginal effect on doing PvE as, in my opinion, it is not overpowered compared to other professions.
Am I getting the right impression from these forums that it's PvP that most think that TK is overpowered?
Im only a new TKA myself bur i believe its PVP side of the prof that makes people cry nerf
Every combat prof ive done since release has been hit with the nerf bat at one time or another. The problem is the more popular a prof gets the more crybabys are created.Happend with BH
Pistoleer
and when commando got fixed it happend again..
They call it balancing and maybe in some aspects its needed its just a shame that a relativly small % of people post on the boards compared to the % of people who play the game.
One day ill do a combat prof that gets left alone lol but i doubt it
So by your definition, Anyone holding a gun is granted an automatic victory 100% of the time when facing an unarmed opponent, IRL?
I dont agree. I just wanna take this theory and extend it into real life for a moment. In this definition of yours, you would put a person holding a gun against an unarmed person. Now, you should also factor in, not everyone who owns/uses a gun, knows what they are doing. You said you could beat a person with a gun 100% of the time, but do you have any idea on how to shoot? You have to take into account that you are trying to gun down a (more than likely) moving target. Okay, plus factor in, you only have so much ammo.
And lets take a step futher and actually relate it to professions. Say you are a pistoleer and you are shooting at a teras kasi artist. the quivalent of that IRL i would assume would be you being an expert on the use of firearms, and you are trying to gun down a black belt in ninjitsu. chances are, you are skills at hitting a moving target, but that person is also skilled in stealth, and dodging ranged attacks, as well as melee attacks, and are highly skilled in the art of defense. Yes, if you can hit him, the game is over. But also factor in, the environment, the amount of ammo you have, and how good you are with the pistol. If you run out of ammo, or are caught off guard, or the martial artist disarms you, you are done for.
So to say that a person with a gun will WIN 100% of the time, is a rediculous and uncalculated thought.
Not a flame so please dont be offended. Its just a more extended thought into the subject. Friendly Debate if you will.
Zero Haven
Scylla
Bounty Hunter soon to be Teras Kasi Artist
Good point Xero, not everyone wielding a pistol in real-life is guaranteed a hit, and in game terms this equates to lower skill pistoleers missing and causing less damage than higher level pistoleers.
Stepping back into the game scenario, bear in mind people that TK is not just a martial art, it's about using the power within the character and expressing it in the form of unarmed combat. This makes for an accomplished TKer to better position and move themselves in order to dodge various attacks coming his way. People who find it 'ridiculous' that this 'martial art' is a match (or more than a match it seems) in a PvP scenarion need to remember this. After all, Neo has no problems with bullets ![]()

i cant believe there is a commado calling us overpowered, learn how to play mikey, commando is one of the most powerful profs in game, and you guys do unhealable dmg for insane amounts, maybe you should worry less about crossing your fingers and make sure youve crossed all your t's before you post nonsense in another professions board.
No, maybe you should cross your own t's. You don't have a clue about the state of the commando profession right now or you wouldn't say that.
