You can't say that TKA has a unique disadvantage in pvp because of the single damage type. Unless a class has a stun weapon, whatever their extra damage types are, they are resisted as well or better than kinetic by composite. TKA is in the same boat as all other classes but those with stun when it comes to pvp damage types. In pve, that is different. But everything in pvp except stun is resisted just as well if not better (slicing the effectiveness) than kinetic.

Ya know I may have only recently mastered TK but this much is painfully obvious to me. I'm not using an elite template (TKM / BE) but with no other combat profession was i able to not only hold my own against Rancors on a regular basis but in fact stand toe to toe with 5 enraged rancors using no buffs other than power boost. Not to mention last night while sitting afk and meditating (no macros running) was taking down night sisters as they respawned on top of me.

Underpowered? not by far. Limited because of the damage type? perhaps but i knew that going into the profession and have no room to complain. Given the state of my current abilities vs any class i've played before i would venture to say not only do we not need to be given anything else but we as a profession probably wouldnt be hurt too be toned down offensively only (as a tank i think our defenses are right where they should be)

Mas...

I to can go toe to toe with enraged Rancs, in fact that is what I do a lot of times when I need money. Any TKM can sit in a PvE situation and own, TKA is the owning profession of PvE right now...it has been since the holo grind started. The fact remains that in PvP, TKA is not the profession that needs to be toned down. Try coming to Bria, making a TKM, getting some good comp armor, and going toe to toe with our rabid group of PvP fanatics...it won't happen...HANDS DOWN...TKA NEEDS ANOTHER DAMAGE TYPE!

ok, tka are NOT the greatest pve'ers around. walk around with a master swordsman and you will see how quickly they can take down nearly ANY pve thing. as for pvp? swordsman get absolutly crapped on due to no kd defense and what seems to be a low hurting ability.

you want tka to be the best in pvp + pve?

i mean really!

anyway with combat revamp coming up it will be interesting to see what they do. imo they should give tka another damage type.

what could be a nice though would be to see a "heavy vk" with either medium or heavy ap. keep kinetic damage seeing as thats what an UNARMED profession should really have (unless this has turned into street fighter and tkm's can produce a ha-do-kin) but allow us to ap a bit better.

anyway, no more moaning. whatever they are doing atm is what is going to happen! what we say just now is not going to reflect their decision until the revamp goes onto the TC.

I can not believe that there are Teras Kasi artist in this game complaining. First of all, a TKA + medic can solo just about any thing in the game. You can solo rancor caves, squill caves, the warrens. Secondly, your dizzy kd works about everytime, at least it does on me. You have moves that can kill a person in one hit. The whole point of having a gun is to be able to shoot from far away. You chose to be a TKA, so you knew that you would not be able to reach someone from so many feet. Anyway, a TKA can attack someone from 20m, 60ft anyway. lol. I have never seen Jet Li kick or punch someone from 60 FEET AWAY. Please...... Guns are supposed to be able to have an advantage over people punching and kicking. They would not have invented it if it weren't. So don't even start that BS about Teras Kasi being borked.

Since, as stated in the first post, the TKA were made to keep jedi's in check, maybe we should have defenses from force powers? (ooo aaaa) Also, if a vibro-lance does electricity damage, why don't we have VK's do electricity damage, or perhaps we could have special lootable upgrades for VK's that makes them do a different damage type, perhaps lootable from a new quest, maybe a TKM dungeon? Also, if you were to add in a new weapon for a different damage type make it extremely hard to get to the weapon, maybe even put in an elite elite TKA profession something branching off of TKM where maybe it only has 1 branch as opposed to 4 and they could add in some extra defenses and at the top the new VK. I think that would be a fair balance, because people have enough trouble with skill points without having to worry about the new level of TKA. Either that or make it at TKM where you can earn the new damage type.

Give that man a cigar!!! you nailed it moosha!!

On a more general topic I'd like to say that all those ppl who were crying for tka's to be nerfed either didn't know how to use their profession, didn't want to learn, or were simply out of their tree. A TKM in open ground against almost any ranged profession is fighting a losing battle SO LONG AS the ranged person knows what they are doing.

The perfect example I can provide you is what happened to me the other night in the cantina on coronet. I was inside the cantina overt fully buffed (mind too) and ready for action, a rifleman w/some fencer skills also fully buffed and overt standing outside the cantina holding his damn georifle. At first it was kinda rediculous as we just sat there for almost 5mins staring at each other through the wall sending tells to each other inviting one another to join them inside and outside. I was deterimined not to give in and start a futile attempt at chasing him through the streets of coronet like a dog on a leash as he cowardly would run away and shoot over his shoulder doing his mind shot dance.

You know what? in the end it paid off, he eventually lost his patience, came into the cantina where he didn't have an idea range or place to kite and over the course of the next 10-15mins he tried to continually pull me outside. If I couldn't keep his ass in the cantina as he ran out the door like a coward to heal himself up, I just let him go and waited for him to lose his patience again in come back in. For me it was actually convenient being stuck in the cantina as I just kept listening or watching the entertainers which kept my mind wounds and BF at 0 the whole time. Well after about 10mins he ran into the cantina for what must have been the 5th time and he paid the price, His ass was on the ground, dizzy'd beyond belief, blinded, stunned, bleeding, intimidated, warcry'd and whatever else I might have missed. Took a little bit to work down his ham, but since my mind was buffed I could use my 220vk's which helped speed things up a bit. In the end it was a long hard fight, no ill will either I sent him a tell saying whata fantastic fight it was and that he was a true pleasure to dook it out with him.

Did I win because I'm some how better? No. he did as good as he could have with the skills he had which were every bit the equal of mine. The only difference is I had the patience to make sure that the fight was going to take place on my grounds where I had the advantage, not out in the open where my only option would be the underpowered unarmedlunge.

It's all about picking your fights and knowing when you're in an unwinnable situation. The sooner you figure that out the fewer trips you'll need to be making to the clone centre.

I think that this is fairly resonable... but you are asking for an almost realistic power.... and in this game such things just don't exist and that is for the better.... this would be how a fight would go if it were based on something like what your asking... this is in story ish form...

There I was at a guild hall about to match skills with a rookie pistoleer.... It would be a very close fight considering TK is all melee.... We are in fighting stance and we begin...

I dodge the first shot roll forward and pop up with a lunge that was dodged by my opponent, I dodge one more shot and jus when I was getting close enough to do a knockdown and dizzy and so the final blow, the pistoleer leveled his weapon to my head and pulled the trigger... From then on it is black... I woke up 1 hr later to find that I was indeed to close for me to dodge that shot...

But as you see if this game was based on the real life circumstances it would be one shot and somones dead... no 3 friggin shots to the head and still be fighting...

I hope you understand waht I am meaning and don't take it the wrong way... but even tho I am novice I do know that it would bebetter if our mind was stronger and we had a different damage type...

I think most combat professions dabble in other professions, if they want to seriously compete in PvP. Pistoleers oftendabble in Smuggler or BH to gain both the defences and the powerful attacks, etc. etc.

Why should TK be the exception? It's no problem to get Pistol Tech II anduse a good Geonosian Blaster or Marksman, Rifle Specialist IV for the Jawa Ion Rifle. It appears a very small price to pay in skill points for the best damage type around in PvP.

I think TK is fine just the way it is, great at some things, not so hot at others.

Rifleman will soon have 6, go blast!

So as soon as /dizzy, /kd, /warcry2 goes away and people find ways around kd+dizzy tkm is borked? Well back in the day a carbineer spamming legshot2 could kill anything, since legshot immobolized them, why don't we go back to that? If your issue is stun in pvp go to Adune's shop and buy a composite stun layered helmet, that's what I had to do to keep the xeno weapon toting rifleman (of which I'm one of them) off me in pvp. If TKM's broke, why is it one of the two most popular combat professions (other being rifleman) and is considered a FOTM?

Since you won't respond to my points...what damage type would you choose? If it's anything other than stun, you'll be in the same pvp situation you are now.

If they give us another damage type (besides stun) it won't really solve our problems. Composite armor with 80%+ resists to everything but stun is easy to get on every server. Be patient, bro - hopefully a more robust fix will come with the combat revamp.

If not, I'm done... /shrug
