Thread: Screwed again...this time in a vette.
I went to the corvette on the first day. Out of a group of 10, I was the last person to die. As MTK your role in this dungeon is to tank. Plain and simple. Best weapons to bring would be something with electric, blast, or heat for the Corvette.
As far as your comment that everything is 95% Kinetic that is far from true. Everything has at least Medium armor and some have 50% Kinetic, not 95% (from examining the mobs thats what I've noticed). The Rebels I was killing on the first level (we killed every single one on the first floor) had 50-75% resists from what I remember. I was still hitting between 1-1.5k damage spamming unarmedhit3. I'm not saying that later in the dungeon there is mobs with 95% Kinetic but if there is just tank while group members kill it.
Everyone who thinks MTK should own everything is not looking at the big picture. Why have other combat professions such as Bounty HUnters or Commandos if they are never needed. If you take those professions by themselves they last a couple seconds in the Corvette but take them with a MTK and you can clear quite a few mobs before dying. This Dungeon is the first one that NEEDS these professions to kill everything. I am a MTK and Pistoleer/Smuggler. Now I might not come close to their damage using MTKbut I am keeping them alive (well thats until you go up against mulitple Super Battle Droids lol).
If you want to discuss a joke, lets talk about my Master Pistoleer skills. I tried using those pistol skills with Krayted Pistols in the Corvette.....only thing I contributed to the groupwhen using my Pistols in the Corvette was LAG. Trust me when I say, MTK has a very good role and still can damage the mobs in the Corvette. Just dont expect to walk in and spam your MTK specials with brandy and win in 30 seconds like 90% of the things in this game......most mobs have close to 100k ham with medium armor and no vulnerablities.
dont know why im posting it here, but ive jsut looked at the commando, BH, TKA and Jedi forums and theres a common theme:
'Our profession gimped again!'
We've been up there twice. I'm a TKM, Master Brawler and Master Chef (I throw a mean pie). Well, I was fine for all of the troopers (even the area bleed bastards), but once the battle droids rolled out, we were done. We had 4 TKMs (mixed with other professions) and only our master swordsman with his power hammer did any real damage to them before he died.
Now, I'm not about to drop Chef (my income) to kill a droid. I'm also not about to quit on the 'Vette either. It's the most Star Wars experience I've had on this game.
It's a great mission and a lot of fun.

So you can't do much damage in the vette? Tough, TKA isn't supposed to be a automatically pwm all pve - some mobs have high resists, deal with it.
If you wish to become more allround you will have to get other combat professions besides TKA, no "fixing" needed.
Being a melee fighter myself and A TKM at that, i don't find that everything should be easy just because I'm TKM.
No, leave the vette alone, this may be the only place in the game where a pikeman has any advantage over other melees and pikemen have been neglected for a long time. Let them be good at SOMETHING.
Some people must not have very good reading comprehension skills. I am not asking to be able to own the entire vette solo. Sure some mobs with high kinetic is fine. I am just stating that the mobsseemed to beall designed to be anti TKM and it is a severe disadvantage with the TKM being a single damage type. This basically eliminates those that choose to use TKM as their only combat prof which is not right. This is not something that I am fighting for personally since I am a hybrid combat toon with masters in pistols and smuggler as well as TKM. I am just saying that it is wrong for those that are only TKM.
Saying that someone should take up another combat prof to be all around is like telling everyone who whines about losing in pvp to a tkm that they should just forget about any other prof and take up tkm for pvp. The game is not supposed to be that way. Each combat prof should have a place in combat in the game no matter what they wish to fight. Your type of thinking is why there are so many FOTM players.

If you are the tank and the last person to die you are not doing your job very well. This is something that I mentioned in one of my posts. Not only can you not hit for very much but you cant even tank for your group effectively because they ignore you and use AOE shots killing the people you are supposed to be tanking for.

I am not sure if the mobs in the imp missions are different from the ones in the reb missions but I didnt see to many with low kinetic resists. Maybe there were a few in the first room but the rooms you need to get to were all very high in kinetic resists. I really dont see how you were doing 1.5k hits on a med armor 50% mob. That would mean that you do 6k on a light armor 0% mob. What the hell are the stats on your vk? Once again what good is a tank when the mob wont focus its attack on you?

Once again I am not saying that a TKM should be able to solo the vette. I just thought that it would be nice if the mobs in the different rooms would have high resists to different things making each prof useful in specific rooms and certain profs useless certain rooms. That would be more helpful in getting a group of varied profs. The way it is now just gets people to take up the FOTM until the next dungeon.

Useless pistols is just a side effect of the mobs being built to withstand TKMs and riflemen. The reason is that all the mobs were given med armor to counter the AR of their weapons. Most other profs arent hampered by this as they have good AR weapons of their own but the pistoleer does not. The problem is that the pistols that take advantage of the low resists like the FWG for heat has no AR and the med armor is basically 75% resists. Howevermost peopleshould still be doing more damage with the FWG(about9% damage going through)than a VK(about 3% damage going through).

Whats the fuss about? TKAs are getting a new damage type (heat).

In addition melee can usually count on using high kinetic layered armor but now that they no longer fight back with melee you are usually taking about 30-50% more damage depending on your armor base effectiveness vs the layered resist.
Duckfat I wont flame and I'll try to explain as best I can,
First, yes my job was to tank. Why was I the last one, when you go up against 3 Super Battle Droids and one regular I dont think they are all going to concentrate on one person. That is why I was the last one standing, too many mobs and my group got disorganized as soon as the third Battle Droid entered combat.
I went to the Corvette again yesterday. I actually checked the stats of almost everything. The best resists was the Super Battle Droid, 85% kinetic. Only other thing that matched that was the Admirals. Almost everything else ranged from 50%-75%. Most of the rebel mobs had 50-60% resists. This is not an opinion, its fact. I dont think it has anything to do with it being a Rebel or Imp mission. All resists should be the same. I can understand how you thought they had to all be uber resists because its scary to see everything 60k ham + with medium armor. But this Corvette would be almost impossible if the resists were 95% on everything.
As far as saying I didn't hit things for 1-1.5k, I did against the 50-60% mobs. Past that, with the Super Battle Droids, ya those I was scratching for like 300-400. Keep in mind they are supposed to be strong against the kinetic attacks, you need a BH or Pikeman to attack the droids for the real damage. oh and my VK's stats are in the 200's.
Lastly, I just finished the entire Corvette yesterday with no one dying, only one incap, and with TEN mins to spare. Not only did we finsh the assassin mission, we killed everything in the Vette. Our group was the best I have ever seen. We were all experienced players that new what to do. 4 MTK, 1 BH, 1 Doc, 1 Swordsman, and 3 dark Jedi. Ya I know, we had Jedi. Yes that made it easier but even they admitted this was the first time no one died in their group. They were shocked we finished with 10 mins to spare. It just goes to show you if you get the right group and that has enough experience you can do fine in the Vette. btw, if there were no Jedi in our group the only thing we would have had trouble with was the Super Battle Droids, after all that is what killed my first group and we were killing everything up till then.
