Thread: Teras Kasi has become almost as useless as pikeman

TKA is still a very powerfull and usefull class. Last I checked pikeman were still doing great damage to the air around them

But like every class right now, we are all effectively gimped in PVP by uber composite armor. Only professions with stun weapons and/or poison/disease hold any chance of winning against people anymore. If composite were given just 1 - 2 vunerabilities alot of professions would come back into the fold and be combat worthy again.

Hey,

I remember seeing something cool for TKs in Ghost in the Shell comics. It's called "Buzz Knucles". (It's on page 143 if you even care.)

So it's supposed to be electrified and give off shocks. That would be reasonable. I mean Teras Kasi Grandmasters should have seen problems fighting battle droids centuries ago. Electric Damage Knuckles may be a lot of fun.

They would also be highly unbalancing as there are several high-end mobs that have electricity as one of their few weaknesses.

Electricity damage in the hands of a TKM is frightening to consider from a balance perspective.

I am not yet a master TK, but to my tk-noobish eyes it seems those in this art whoop tail on those not in it. And I would dare say a profession that is too powerful is no more fun than an under-powered one. Heres hoping the combat balance brings it all together. Im just glad comp armor doesn't stop lightsabres anymore heh.

Hi,

Probably you are right. I can kill rancors with my bare hands. I dont even need VKs to do this. With VK, I think I can drop rancors dead so fast that I dont even need to dodge.

I think that it would be nice to have VK's that have a DOT on them, like fire or disease.

Granted that you might be right, but if electrical is a vulnerability then with the AP borked, the damage would not be as high as it should and might not be as unbalanced as you think. And it wouldn't help a bit in PvP against uber composite since electrical is spec'd anyways.

Just because you can't run up and spam unarmedhit3 with reckless abandon anymore doesn't mean the profession is useless.

In PvP we are usefull at applying status effects(if the target is not a stacker) and act as excellent damage magnets. However, I think here the complaint is that composite armor negates our ability to cause any meaningfull amount of damage. So for months now I have been the guy tossing intimidates on everyone and jumping anyone with a very low mind pool. Other than that I'm pretty useless in fights.

When they nerf composite in the Revamp it should make a significant amount of difference. At least I hope it will... I love TKA way too much to quit.

You know, threads like this make me wonder how many members of the Playerbase are the whiny little 13 year olds who think they can run up to anything and kill it in one or two hits.

TKA is not a useless profession no matter how you look at it.

Against high level NPC's that have 100% kinetic resists we are not useless, although we cannot do any damage. We can, however, keep the target Intimidated and tank for the rest of the group (yes, look it up. There are groups in this game). This means that tactics and professional interdependance are required for some things. Does this make a profession useless? Not by a long shot.

No longer holding out hope, SWG will never be the game we fought so hard for, that we believed so much in. Farewell friends.

So, TKA isn't the one-stop-shop for PvP pwnage anymore. Good. Thats why we have 250 skill points.

While I understand the whole concept of tactics and working within a group, I still don't like the fact that in many situations it would seem I have spent my time to become an Elite Wall behind which my ranged friends can hide behind and do all the damage.

I would agree with many people though, in saying that too much of the top end content can be soloed.

They're few and far between but there are some DOT VKs around.

As for TKA, well, its definitely not as useless as Pikeman. It rules PvE except against stuff with super high kinetic resists and heavy armor. In PvP against high kinetic armor itscan be difficult going, but that's why we have 250 skill points: so we can use other skills too.
