I think you maybe taking that a bit far. SWG is supposed to be similar to RL but guided by different rules. Do you see any Jahovis whitnesses with the ability to shoot lightning from there finger's?

I think that TKA should require master Brawler
Given the facts on the EU, it should be a powerful proffesion.
But I actually think that weapons are cool for TKA.
I would like to see a TKA, like a mix of all of it.
maybe wielding two small sticks(batons?) for dual wield, or a little vibro knife, that is turned the other way around like an assasin knife.
Also i would love to see some kind of healing abillities on others - Maybe a very slow healing of others wounds(nothing that will compete with a doc) if they watched the TKA doing full meditation(should be a master tka skill)! It would be Monk kind of a thingy!
We had duel weild before they took it away
I would rather add a power up to armor boots, spikes taht decay after 50 attacks =)

Apart from the fact that I have to agree with the other posts (i.e. just PTFG and have fun
, what style? We didn't get to talk about that at 'fest. I spent 2 years on shotokan in college (way back when).

Breaking bricks is in no way armor piercing. Go try that ona tank. You can't even do that showboat stunt on a brick wall.
This is a game--you want real life, go out on the street and pick a fight with a random person. Guess what--it's going to be messy. People will slip, fall, hair will get pulled, people spit and gouge eyes and throw rocks. Watching two people perform a demo is in no way like a real fight, and if they're telling you it is, then I feel sorry for you because you're getting ripped off.
You sound like someone who's just started martial arts (and please don't bother replying with how you've done it for twenty-two years andnow you'll kick my butt)--you should go to a variety of schools of martial arts. You might learn something even more important than how to break bricks--that's how not to get into a fight in the first place.

Now i'm a martial artist in real life, and so far tka is in no way realistic. First off, we should not have vk's, unarmed means exactly that. Secondly, our damage against unarmored opponents should be god-like. There are so many places on the human body that react quite violently when hit hard, and by violently i mean you die. Good martial artists can kill people inone strike, and in more than a few ways. Secondly, good martial artists are almost un-hittable. Watching two 5th tier martial artists fight is an amazing experience. A blur of motion for 5 minutes straight, and both fighters are untouched. Third, there are styles of martial arts that are based ENTIRELY off of counterattack, can we say aikido anyone? And third, there are martial artists you could come at with a sword, knife, 8 foot stick, gun, whatever, it doesnt matter, because they will disarm and destroy you. I know, because we tried that on our sensei once, not one person hit him with anything, including a pellet gun. Fourth, what is with 100 resists to kinetic? I know a guy who can put 250 pounds of force into a 2 inch square box, consistently. repeatedly, on command. now are you telling me that someone could put that into an npc's larnyx with NO effect? give me a break. And finally, there are martial artists who can hit a stack of bricks that is 7 bricks tall, and ONLY break the BOTTOM brick. Now if that isnt armor peircing I dont know what is. Teras kasi should take more skill points, and it should be a great proffession against players.
Your post is more unrealistic than TKA is in the game. Martial arts in the movies are not the same as in real life...
Having a black belt means you know the stances and followed the path that the sensei set before you to achieve the title of "Blackbelt"... It doesn't mean you can fight, it means you know enough to effectively learn how to fight, (IRL street fighting...Not tournament rules).
Pressure points are all fine and good until you meet the fighter who has been mixing it up for a good while.. He doesn't react to painthe way you think heshould...
Unhittable? I have seen a 10th degree black beltget beat down HARD by a grappler.. The grappler made sure not to hit him in the face out of respect... The 10th degree black belt didn't land one punch. (Some of the older people, and some of the younger ones, may remember seeing this bout.. You can still rent it at the video store).
I saw Bloodsport as well...
Karate was developed during the "olden" days of the samurai, (I am not a historian in Martial Arts Lore).Villagers had to rely on their everyday farming tools to be used as weapons, as they were not allowed to train with weapons. They learned to focus their punches into an explosive energy so, when the armored foe was brought to the ground, they could inflict damage through the armor. Not piercing by any means but they could still cause pain and injury. Arm bars and locks were meant to exploit the joints in the armor, works effectively againstunarmored foes as well.
The bottom line is that martial arts will not make you superhuman... Studying a style will not make you a fighter.. Bruce Lee was probably the best shining example of martial arts.. But not everyone that studies Jeet Kune Do will be able to do what Bruce Lee was capable of... Studying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will not make you a grappling god..
I would put my money a fighter with 5 years of pit fighting experience over a 5th Dan with tournament experience.

Since I used to study Brazilian jiu-jitsu (never quite made it too far, but I studied it), I have to say "woot" to the last two posters. Messy fighting, joints, resistance to pain....learned all about that stuff.
Once, a guy had me in a hold called the paintbrush.
He says, "You want to tap out?"
He says, "You want to tap out?"
I say, "Nah, doesn't hurt that bad."
He says, "I can hear your elbow popping."
I say, "Oh, ok." *tap tap*
Now I can't bend that arm as far as the other one.

Slapjack, as a martial artist, you should realize that what you see on your screen is not how you would fight in a real life sparring - match. By now you should have mastered several hundred moves and counter moves. What does this game give us that even approximates that?
This is a game where some non-martial art programmer has formulated a skill that never appeared on-screen and tried to incorporate into a space adventure-cowboy game (without the space adventure). If SoE really wanted to represent a martial artist adventure StarWars would not be it. Please just try to enjoy the game for what it is, and escape from reality.
Also a personal note please refrain from making statements where "Good martial artists can kill people inone strike". This sends a shiver up my spine. This goes against any teaching amartial artist at any level should profess.

Slapjack ,
I am also a Martial Artist in real life ( and with all due respect ), in a real fight you can expect me to break and disarm you as fast as possible. To assume ( as /unarmedhit3 does ) that I would waist my time doing a butterfly kick, it's ludicrous. But it's kewl to see in game because I wouldn't do it in a real life fight. I enjoy TKM because of the mix of Martial Arts and fantisy in the star wars galaxies.
I love Teras Kasi and it will be the one profession I never drop!!! I want to see it do well, in the game.

Why doesn't SlapJack complain about "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" while he's at it......."it's not realistic" he may say! Bugger him!

Yeah but slapjak, someone else brought this up and it reminded me of something else to point out as part of TKA making since. Its all relative to the environment.
You said your teacher took out X amount of guys with weapons in no time flat. Well I got a question for you. Were those guys master of those weapons or just students in the class? Im betting on students and if you take a MTKA even and make him go against another MTKA while using even an acklay stun baton with no skill in fencing, the TKA thats using TKA is going to beat up the guy using fencer that has no idea what he is doing. There are stil people out there that master techniques with a sword, or even a polearm, it still exists, just not functional in a modern world of guns.
I think myself, asside from what moves, etc; the end results for TKA are quite fitting. im just happy it is a little off reality in that I can run down, or attempt to run down, a guy with a gun and not die, be severely wounded, or imobilzed by just one shot.

It's stuff like this that give martial arts a bad name. Reality check, I can break 5 brick eg, not stop bullets like Keanu or surf for that matter. It's a game, that allows some one to kick *edit* anytime they want and have fun too while being able to live and tell about it.

I say screw vk's just give us ap1 while not using them. with our bare hands. O an give us another +15 to dmg at master that will even it out. and noo need for vk's. as for the rest of the origonal post ummmmm dont know what to tell u other than what everyone else alreaddy has. its not real life its a game if it were real life pretty much every profession would kill in one hit. and while your sensei can dodge pellets from a pellet gun lets see him dodge a bullet from a Desert Eagle. I doubt he could do it.
