Thread: What do you want TKAs to be?
Mr H, nice job...
I have a couple of points though.... The 'no area effect' should change to 'just keep our Aoe 1'. I think where TKA should lie is on kinda the 'jack of all trades master of none' theme. It is important that we have lots of tools to handle multiple situationsjust not necessarily the _best_ tools for _all_ situations.
For instance...
Lets say the problem is 15 tuskens are charging after your friend who is in over his head and fleeing out of the tusken cave. As a Pikeman a target the lead Tusken and spam AoE as they drew near. The less powerfull Tuskens are slaughtered in a whilwind of vibrating axe. As a TK I would need to WarCry the leader and hope that it hit as many as possible, then beginthe spam of my less effective AoE. The WarCry would by me some time to make up for the lack of damage but I would survive because I was a crafty player...
Lots of tools! I like this theme. I dont want to give up any tools
This is does make _speed_ and _low HAM_ a necessity however.
This leads a bit into something else I would like clearity on. We could ask for lower -non-special- damage but our special's output is right on the money.
You need to edit it, the Grappling skills would do restraint damage not kinetic, this is in the offensive summary ![]()
Cheers, otherwise it sounds good!
There is only one error in the text, in the offensive summary you wrote grappling skills which would do kinetic damage, it should be restraint..
Btw. you could mention that the lack of weaponsmakes it viable that we get so many different attacks compared to other professions.
I really dont care what kind of damage they do.
It would be sweet to have some grappling and maybe just maybe "throw moves"
maybe take out KD and add in some kind of grappling/throw move cause that seems to be what martial arts are based off of at least hand to hand ones(shrugs)
sounds good to me......
what kind of HAM costs are you looking at?
Accuracy from novice to master?
what bonuses should you get from master brawler?

Honestly I think we are extremely balanced right now.
We deal out a lot of damage but it's one type of damage with a max of AP1.
We can absorb lots of melee damage but we get shredded by ranged attacks.
We have no bleeds.
We have a useful, but not overpowering meditate line.
We have specials that can be devestating but that have a high HAM cost.
There is a lot of stuff I could add but I'm at work now so I can't go into super detail
Seriously, what niches do we have a choice of? I like how well balanced TKA is now. I don't see how you can differentiate the melee classes too much more. I don't want to be all defense with little to no offense. I don't want to be all offense with liitle to no defense. I want to be in the middle. Where we are now.
I second this
*attack speed the TKA should be the quickest, and fastest melee fighter
*the TKA should have exceptional accuracy, and with that accuracy we can land hits on percise locations of the body. head/torso/leg etc, and that is what we have
*in doing so the revamp of these individual placed hits should be relooked apon. Why is it our body shot does less damage then UH2? our head shot seems to be doing the most damage, but all three are vastly underpowerd atm.
* the TK should have the worst weapons, and with our damage modifiers we should be slightly less then fencers in terms of weapons we can use. That is how it is now, and i see that as a good direction of balance. Instead of high amounts of crazy defenses like the fencer, we have high mulitpliers on our damage. and again i like to see that.
*the TK should be the toughess of all fighters, we are the ones that never give up, have extreme will power, we even have a special called (force of will) We are the grit of the melee comunity, but we should be more ceceptable to take hits more often then the other melee professions, in doing so we should have a higher toughness, for both melee and ranged. We do not seperate them when we fight, but rather we absorb pain, and keep going.
*we should not be jedi type damage, but we should seriously have a shot at taking one out if the situation calls for it. even if we wont win, we should have a chance to win, even if its small.
I think it should be imposible to keep a tk on their back, if we get knocked down from a bounty hunter, our combat equilibrium kicks in and we get back up, and feel no pain, or the effects of dizzy.
i do how ever feel the TK should feel the pain more then others.
we should have the lower of the defenses, but still good defense, and do higher damage, more accurate never missing shots, and leather percision strikes.
RESTRAINT DAMAGE
“UnarmedGrapple1”: Would be a grapple that if successful would lower the posture of the opponent to kneeling by twisting the arm, then to prone by striking the opponent while the arm was still locked by the Teras Kasi practitioner.
- If the opponent was already prone the technique would fail.
- If the opponent had enough “Defence vs. Posture Change” then they would be seen to break the arm lock from a standing posture.
- If the opponent had enough “Defence vs. Posture Change” then they would be seen to block the strike and break the arm lock from a kneeling posture.
- In order for “Unarmed Grapple1” to lower an opponent to the prone posture the command would need to be pressed in quick succession (twice), or the Teras Kasi practitioner would disengage the arm lock automatically.
- “UnarmedGrapple1” could only be performed within 5m from the opponent.
“UnarmedGrapple2”: Would be an actual throw that when successful would knock the opponent off their feet with the possibility of stunning them like “UnarmedKnockdown2“ has the ability to dizzy.
- The opponent would be made prone.
- If the opponent had enough “Combat Equilibrium” they would recover from the fall and raise to standing posture instantly.
- “UnarmedGrapple2” could only be performed within 5m from the opponent.
Good post schwartz. I agree totally. The armbreaker move or whatever being a posturechange sounds cool
But they one I liked was grapple 2 with the throw. Not that would rule.Of course it would have to have a close range like 5m only but oh well at least we would have a cool throw
I'd give up some of our damage just to be able to throw and have a armbreaker move
im going to have to disagree mr.heavy.
although the stat effects are nice, and the stat changes, i do not see that as our primary strength.
the strength of the TK is their ability to percisely hit a target and generate more damage then some people can with weapons.
the reason behind this is because we are so accurate, and we are so fast, that we can pinpoint our attacks to be near fatal on delivery. We dont use the force of weapons to do this. Kinda like when bruce lee could punch someone across the room with his fist 3 inchs away from the person stomache. Thats what i see the tk being able to do.
I also see the tk as beign the absolute fastest class, but effects, that is a fencing category, you just described a fencer.
they do no dmg, or should do no dmg, but have amazing stat effects and defenses.
dont view our knock down as a stat effect, because what it is is a percise hit, so hard and so quick, you can't help become dizzy and fall over going "**edit** just hit me"
in doing so we should also be the toughess class of them all, but we should should fall short in defenses.
Valkari: So, in your opinion, a teras kasi artist should be a high damage output profession and that's it? We should be able to absorb hits but not dodge them? Frankly, that strikes me as pretty... boring. And not really very martial-artsy. More like boxing than anything else. For unarmed 1-4, that's sort of reasonable, except that the precision isn't there--it's all rough and tumble. But for a Teras Kasi artist, shouldn't there be... well... at least *some* finesse involved?
Really, this is the side of the current TKA profession that I really dislike. Going up and hitting super hard and getting hit and ignoring the blows because I'm apparently so bruised already that I don't feel a thing is... lame.
Sure, it's powerful--but it has no style.
Give me style over raw power any day.
Ok so I agree with both of you oh ooo
I do like the Bruce lee idea. I mean a person that can attack that fast and hard should do considerate damage
Ok so maybe not the 250 we get for mastering our profession but anyway
heres where i have to take the last posters side
Give us more dodge and counterattackes
make us actual martial artists I am willing to give up some.. I mean some of our damage to be able to dodge and block attacks and be what wer are a martial artist.Well thats all I have to say for now
