its all about the fight.

if you have no buffs and your oponent is unarmored, DONT use VKs. if you are buffed but not armored, then VKs can be helpful if you watch your mind. if your enemy is armored always use VKs IMO if you can watch the HAM.

Yep, situational. VK's have AP.

I my situation:

TKM + MDoc

Stats: 400 health, 400 str, 400 con -- 400 action, 400 qk, 400 stam -- 1100 mind, 1100 focus, 800 will

I can swing a VK for 21 mind use which isn't too bad but you still have to watch your mind. To compensate for this I buff my mind stats with 2x V Brandy + Power Boost to bring it to:

2254 mind, 1704 focus, and 1404 willpower = 5 mind useper swing

This lets me swing a VKall day without worrying about my mind.

V Brandy is a new chef food that buffs all 3 of your mind stats for around 30 minutes. You can take two doses of it for double the pleasure.

I have a friend of mine who said it is extremely stupid for a TKM to ever use VK's (he is a 0132 tka). I dont wear mine all the time, but when I'm buffed fighitng some strong mob, I always use them. Can some TKM's tell me whether or not you use VKs why?

When the devs put in the HIGH HAM costs for using vks I dropped it and have only used them since then for speed. And that was for maybe a month. I used them yesterday because of nostalgia and I don't think I'll be using them again for months. One less expense for me.

The Brandy is an excellent drink no question, but things get even crazier when you try Ahrisa food in conjuction with it.

For example:

Zabrak mind stats 1000-500-900

2 BE Vesuvian Brandies +441 for 39 min filling 49 equals a mind of 1882-1382-1782

add 3 BE Ahrisa Food +407 Focus for 39 min filling 33 equals a mind of 1882-2603-1782

Your stomach empties after 45 minutes (supposed to be 30) so figure 6 minutes of downtime for me. Take it to the next level with power boost and Master Dancer/Musican buffs for a completely insane mind of 3382-3103-2682. Yeah read those stats again Wearing 90% comp armor withabout 1000 encumbrance isnt a problem. The Ahrisa only comes in small stacks like -4 so it's quite expensive, but then again you really dont have to take 3 at a time 1 will usually do. I can constantly cure every state/rez/disease/posion and swing VK's constantly and mind wont budge. Give it a try!

If you keep a watch on your stomach, you can sneak in a triple stack of brandy, but only for about 10-15 minutes.

I use VKs all the time. My damage sliced VKs kill things maybe twice as fast (faster if they are armoured) as my fists. Sure, the HAM costs are higher, but by the time you have stacked doc buffs, Musician buffs, brandy or Muon gold, the HAM cost is negligible anyway.

Its annoying that all you people are not giving the best advice. Food and spice isnt the answer all the time. This is my advice:

Get a Master weaponsmith to make you the lowest damage VK he/she can and maximizing the build for less HAM cost. This way you get the AP, which is all that really matters, and not have to worry about HAM. The difference in damage in a VK means diddly. The AP is what shines ur damage. I believe the TK's actual fist/feet, (no VK) is 25 - 50. Adding an extra 100 - 140 max damage is nothing when stacked up against the HAM costs normally gotten from a regular VK. We get a Damage bonus for a reason. Rely on what you got, not always food and spices and buffs. Then you will truly gain respect of your peers.

I just started TKAand I always use my VK's,but I am always buffed and always have brandy (damn that stuff tastes good.) The 140 extra damage plus AP makes a huge difference and with buffs and brandy the HAM cost is not even noticeable. Combine that with my pistoleerdefence skillsand I don't get hit all that often either.

This is actually the best advice I have seen on this issue. It is the AP that you need. I don't use VK's that much as a MTKA except in those situations that I encounter someone in "uber" kinetic resist composite armor. I use low HAM vk's for the AP and then rely on the skills that I have to stun, kd, and target the mind pool.

I've got a question related to this...

I've read the FAQ, and the formula for speed is as follows:

(WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) - ((WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) * (UnarmedSpeed/100))

So, as an Unarmed 4 dude, it is well known that I should use VK so that I can attack faster. I can figure out how fast I can attack, because I can look at the speed on the VK, but does anyone know

What is the WeaponSpeed for bare knuckles?
