Samurai= european knights, arabic version of knights, and every other martial elite (the codes were all the same and they were all phased out by gunpowder, go figure).
Ninja= ronin, disgraced samurai, and samurai that realized they could make a ton more money at merc's. The culture was incredibly stratified to the point that when you picked a caste you had little room to change.
If you read into the 1700's version of fan fiction too much you pass up the real historical perspective oftheir true nature.

The differences in Jedi and TK do not lie in their social classes.

samurai were the inspiration for jedi *FACT*, George Lucas was inspired by Akira Kurosawa. What was Akira Kurosawa?...thats right he was samurai lineage...so if we have that relation in terms to inspiration, then it is safe to asume that Teras Kasi inspiration can be a form of taijutsu (or ninjutsu as its more commonly reffered to) or even shaolin as both have roots in the same philosophies and this is where the equation comes from.
you can argue it all you like, deny it, subjectively analize it but you can only come to that logical conclusion because jedi and space are the main focus of the lucas (star wars) lore and everything radiates outward from those central hubs. The foundation is there to creativly build upon your profession so take what inspiration to the class is already there and enjoy playing your profession with content you already have.

I don't know about TKAs being ninja, but Jedi are most definitely based on samurai. Akira Kurosawa, who is probably the most famous creator of samurai films, was a huge influence on George Lucas. As a matter of fact, the whole cantina scene from A New Hope was a copy of a scene from Yojimbo, which is a famous Kurosawa samurai film. Also, the samurai movie Kagemusha, which Kurosawa made in 1980, was made with the help of George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola.
Also, the movie "The Hidden Fortress" was a Kurosawa film about a princess smuggling a royal treasure while avoiding two rival clans. This is where Princess Leia came from.
In one interview I read, during the filming of The Empire Strikes Back, Mark Hamill described Yoda as a "samurai frog".
this is also relevant
