So I'm about to head off for the night (it's 1am here) & got wondering as I was doing one last look through the forums for the night.

How are people finding the CU? What good moments did you have tonight? Any tips you want to share?

Please, keep this in a positive mood, if you didn't have a great time, fine, feel free to share it but please, no sky is falling, no petition links, no SOE/LA slaging off, just some intresting & fun talks about what you all did & how you found things. I know the CU is far from perfect at the moment but it is at least going in the right direction, I know alot of people who have had some great PvP tonight & so on.

But yeah, share your experiences from what you have got up to since the CU went live!

I dont think that FoW works. How i think Cu is it feels a bit choppy and the effects you have look like crap I would like it if you gave us some of the oldschool mocap back and not these wizardly effects. The defences are great I staked with Pikeman adn so far seem to be doing ok besides the fact it takes forever to kill things. One more thing then i will shut up the xp sucks.

I had a bad experience when using FOW too.... It didn't work.
Also as a Master TK should I even use Vibro knuckles anymore?

Every time I put them on I did less damage then bare handed.

Perhaps mine weren't that good although I was using my best ones preCU at the time.

i've played today and it was awful. If someone is out there and they actually liked it and thinks it is the best thing so be your opinion. Granted i did like some of the stuff, just hated the fact that you can't get xp from stuff lower than you. that's awful. i tried to get a mission with 61 level..(i'm 60) and i got handled. it shouldn't be that way. and if your one of those people who say it's not realistic to take on a group of stalkers and come out undamaged, well it's not realistic to shoot a stalker in the head twice and it keep charging.

Change is good, but don't change the world. i play SWG because i get away from the real world. it doesn't have to be realistic. let me level my guy the way i was. i like different professions, but hard to do when i'm getting 5k xp every 10mins.

Combat level 80 <master carb/ tkm> I am having a real hard time killing things close to my level. Is there regeneration rate buggy? or is it just me?

Also, I find the attack moves pretty dull.

Just my 2 cents.

Firsti thought i was just confused but then i started to talk to other people and i guess its just the way it is. it is definitely "far from perfect" and i dont agree its "going in the right direction". i am having the same issues as everyone else so far:

TKA weapons are pointless

combat is slow (this is where i thought i was missing out on something)

XP sucks

Sorry to complain, but there's nothing really good.

The best part was getting in group with my guild and we are actually fighting at the same mission. What sucks is being incapped and dieing constantly. I like being able to fight without armor but does anyone know how do i know when the innate armor is actually working or not? Anyone have a clue? Cause i don't. tk/pike makes for a nice combination with just enough medic to heal myself. I like this template but may try a ranged template next time i log in. Low points taking solo missions and only getting 1k xp for each successful kill but when i took missions closer to my level, i got my but kicked. At one spot on Dath, a guildmate of mine counted 20 escaped nightsister slaves. Is that a bit much for a spawn?

Not another Headache, i will fight them off with my unarmed weapon that isn't working, lol.

Personally, I had a good time as a TKA.

I combined TKA with the defense line from swordsman. I'm pretty hard to hit, and when I'm hit, I don't take much damage. That is in PvE anyway.

I'm currently at CL 67, and I've had no problems with anything that is level 70 or below. Number can be a problem if I get ganged up on too much.

I had a good time hunting with some guildies. Frequently, we weren't getting experience, but we got some good loot and resources. I'd tank and they'd pick off the opponent rather quickly.

On one hand, it'd be nice to see VK's be worth something. However, using my fists without the VK makes me feel more like I'm practicing a martial art and less like I'm a thug with brass knuckles.

It made me a bit uneasy at first, but now I think I'll grow to enjoy it. It seems like more of a skill based game now, as in your skill at managing your HAMs and attacks. If anyone's having trouble killing stuff their own level, the best thing I've found so far is Center of Being. Seriously, it's like night and day. One way I'm dying to a single ewok, the other way I'm smashing three of them at once. Not that I'd pick on an adorable ewok, unless one ticked me off. Little mammals.

Oh yeah, armor break--the difference between doing 400 per hit and 550 per hit. And if your action is constantly hitting bottom, well, with my attack pattern and a doctor buff, I forget I have an action bar.

I'm just a lowbie working my way up to TKN. I'm currently combat level 13, and had to go from my city to Mos Eisley because all the missions from the city terminal were level 15.

I was doing good against some level 5s, mainly trying to figure out how to fight now. Fought an 8, but the next one disappeared and it told me (after it was gone) that the zucca boar wasn't a valid PvP target. So I tried a 12 next, and had to run away. After some more play though, I think I may be able to actually beat a 12, but based on the 11s and 10s I was fighting, it'd probably take forever.

So anyway, I did some missions out of Mos Eisley, and I think I finally got the hang of how to fight in the new system. Never had a problem with Action, and I think I finally found a shaky rhythm to the fight.

All in all, I really would rather have the old system back. Combat now really just seems slow and sluggish. The moves are boring. Sometimes I punch with a special called Leg Sweep. The swirly lights and stuff don't really seem to make any sense. I know that combat is supposed to be fast-paced and dynamic now, but it really doesn't feel like it. Hopefully things will get better with more experience and more levels...but I doubt it from talking to one of my friends.

Right now, I get to press a button every five seconds while whatever I'm fighting gets to hit me three times between my actions. If I'm going to solo (and mostly I have to because I've been a dancer all my career and all my friends who have combat characters are 80th level and probably don't want to drag level 13 me around), I'd like to at least feel like I'm making progress.

I really don't like the new system, but I can see where I could get used to it with time. I just hope that it does get faster and more fun. I know they don't want us chewing through things really fast, which is probably why all of my attacks only remove like 5% of something's health. I just wish it didn't feel so slow and cumbersome.

I know I'll get to TKA Novice one of these days...it's just slow going with really long fights.

If you don't want to hear the bad as well as the good then you should not ask any questions, because you don't really care to listen.
