I went TKA, you went TKA, many others went TKA: WHY?

What the hell where you thinking? I thought they would fix it, are you guys going by "hope" too? I know some of you are not expecting them to fix this, because "EQ melee classes were never fixed." So why did you go melee in SWG?

Please discuss.

I prefer melee over ranged, althowith the points given to us nothing should keep you from havinga decent amount of skill points invested into some sort of ranged weapon, imo... this is not shaolin wars ... its Star Wars and you should expect to get blasted everywhere you go and show hostility.

I love martial arts and pratice them, guess that kinda fits into one of the reasons as well

The whole idea of Teras Kasi Artist in general, the little but veryintriguing history we know about themwas a big reason for me.

Its a great class for role playing if you do like to RP that is

Meditation ...no posture beats that in the game, not only it looks cooland heals wounds but also gives you that extralittle bit of something special you would want to see in yourclass (in daoc for instance the berserk abilityof a berserker or the stag of a hero or the buffs and DD of the champ guess you can tell i reallylike melee :smileywink

Our styles, i thinkthis oneself explanatory, dont think i need to explain to anyone how cool looking, fast and deadly our moves are.

There are so many other great things about TKAs, some of them are personal and depend on everyone individual, iam sure i am forgettinsome stuff but others fill in the blanks for me, otherwise Ithink anyone who chose to play a Teras Kasi Artist to be uber will be dissapointed butthose who were looking for something special and challenging ...TK all the way I know i woudnt trade my TK for any other class.

p.s. and yes i know there are some issues that needed adressing and lots of fixing to be done so noneed to take each of my points and find something negative, any 1st grade child can do that, if you dont like the TKA at its currentstate just play something else, if youwant to see things and done and be heardcheck out the weeklyissue thread at the top of the page.

I went unarmed path because I think it's cool to be a martial artist. ya get to fight things with your bare hands and no weapons. kinda feels good get close and personal. look 'em in the eye, hear'em grawl and rip your flesh with their claws. still cheezy but way more fun than layin' in the grass 60m away and popin' 'em in a few shots before they even get close or see ya. or runnin' in circles and shootin' over your shoulder 'til they drop. it just feels more immersive and way more fun to be a melee fighter.

Because I love the TKA profession. In beta, I was a rifleman, and my friend was a TKA. The stuff he could do, so much cooler then the stuff I could do.

And personally, I don't think its broken. Flawed, but not broken. And I do think they will fix it.

Eventually.

Why? Because I was an MMORPG noob..

and I started as an artisan.

After gettting jumped by thugs repeatedly, I decided to learn to fight.

I bought a CDEF rifle, but lost it again and again because I was getting killed alot. (no insurance!)

So... I had to fight unarmed..

*ding!* "hey, if I fight unarmed, I never lack a weapon!"

Then I discovered how neato and mystical TKA were... like Jedi... and who wouldn't enjoy RP'ing that!?

Fast Forward a bit, and I'm almost TKA master now!

Because the idea of being a martial artist in the SW universe greatly appealed to me. In the movies, I never saw any martial arts being used (besides maybe Darth Maul), and I thought it would be cool to go against the grain..

Because I didn't want to be a Bounty Hunter like everyone else, and I enjoy martial arts.

I also had a faint glimmer of hope that we would be given PvP survival skills, and actually given a means to overcome being Killed-in-Transit (by marksman professions) and to get into melee attack range; however, with the upcoming removal of Berserk and the nerfing of Knockdown, it is very obvious that the SWG developers have bought into thetotally flawed"Don't bring a knife to a gunfight" mentality, and all brawling professions are meant to be nothing more than free faction points & cannon fodder in PvP combat.

Why join the Empire?Because chicks dig Stormtroopers!Watch Jedi flick!
"Today's SWG Patch Notes: Found where people were having fun & removed it."
"Teras Kasi are NOT lethal, NOR nearly impossible to knock down or unbalance."
"Facing an opponent armed with ranged weapons, high-level abilities DO NOT enable him or her to evade blaster fire and close in quickly, bringing his or her enemy swiftly to the ground."

One thing to keep in mind is the game is still very new. Anyone who played EQ knows SOE screws with everything sometimes for the better, but most of the time when there is no need. I think the only thing for us to do is be patient. I for one am losing mine now that I reached master.

I am surprised after a venture like EQ that wouldnt still have thier heads up thier ass, but they know they will make money regardless how many ppl bitch and moan. Were all prisoners of Capitalism......../sigh

Seems that most people like the idea of being a TKA, so they do it. I'm in that boat as well. Overall, there are probably better professions if you want to be a butt kicker in pvp, but I'd rather play something I actually want to play (and then fight for it to be improved of course) then to be forced to be a cookie cutter BH (not that TKA isnt popular) to be proficient in something.
