Thread: Devs answers to all TKA PROBS
Is to pick up a gun. Well devs i say screw you. I should not have to be forced to use a gun to be semi ok in pvp. I dont know why you told the testers this. or even why you said brawlers was just tossed in for people like them. If i am upclose to someone they should die. Range people have range. giving them insane damage and range makes brawlers even worthless.
I picked up a brawler to do dmg and exchange for no range. To find out guns do almost same amount and have range makes me sick
This is why I have refused to join a faction. When they get this all worked out and restore TKA to its former glory, I might join a faction or PA. Until then, SOE can kiss my arse.
Have we actually gotten a response from the dev's? Can I get a link please? THANX
(Have we actually gotten a response from the dev's?)
Don't want to flame our profession rep, Thunderwulf, but. How did Thunder actually word his post to them?
If all he did was list the top 5 issues with,
#1 Defense
#2 Ham costs,
yada yada yada without no point and counterpoints of why this needs fixing in comparison to ranged combat Sony will not do anything.
The person that best represents us will be someone who is passionate about the class, don't take Cr*p and listen to BS from Sony and is able to give them concise details with Damage/Numbersstatistics for them to do anything.
Any other form then this, will be simply ignored. Hell it took a lot of ranting and raving from the Everquest community for Sony to actually do something with Rangers and Rogues when that game first started out. Up until the time they made noticeable fixes years later, they were quite adamant that these classes were fine as is until many people in the community started to log damage done and absorption numbers etc.

Personally, I think he was very detailed about the issues.
Thunderwulf is as passionate as he can get in his dealing with the dev's, without coming across as a whiner or a griefer.
Everyday I am getting more disillusioned with SWG. I am going to hang on a little while longer, but I am not optimistic that PvP and TKA balance will improve.
I have almost obtained Knockdown 1, and have Unarmed Body Hit 1, yet, even at this point, I have not come across a special move as effective as Berserk (which is now being removed from what I hear).
I do not understand why TKAs are continually being punished by major nerfs. One of our two most effectiveattacks is being totally removed, the other made harder to use. It's not like we have the godlike ability to use knockdown at 50 meters away as marksman can; so, we definitely aren't spamming it in PvP as others are.
We have always been the laughing stock of PvP combat, and our damage is not even comparable to marksman profession or bounty hunter with a decent firearm. A novice Bounty Hunter at (0-0-1-0) hit me with one Underhand shot for 1025 damage with a laser carbine. Are Master TKAs even capable of that kind of damage because I sure am not as a TKA Novice. I am only hitting for 150 to 200 damage with regular Vibro Knuckler attacks... sad.
You guys want official Developer responses about TKAs? Here they are. If you read between the lines, it is very obvious that the developers always meant for brawling professions to be PvP cannon fodder.

dyonsos,
"To us "balanced" means the professions are worth playing to the types of people who like to play them; the skills are fun, they excel at some things, they are weak at other things. We do want combat to be engaging and it usually isn't if everyone feels they have to have one certain skill set in order to have any chance of success. But we are more on your side, the professions should be different. Prone riflemen should get killed by TKAs in close quarters, melee guys should fear ranged weapons, medic should pick up some weapon skills if they want to survive a firefight. Our system hopefully encourages people to find the skill sets that are right for their style of play.
So don't think we are "caving" by addressing the top concerns of a profession. We'll be careful to give them what they need to have fun and not give into the "the other profession is better than mine because it has..." arguments.

"On the other hand, we're just plain giving up on the issue of melee combat. A good ranged guy is always gonna take a good close quarters guy, and there's no getting past that. Yes, we've innvested a fair amount of time in vibroblades and stun poles and what have you, and there's skills to learn for melee, motioan captured moves, and all sorts of goodness. But really, we already know the min-maxers won't use that stuff. So it's there for those whose self-image really calls for it."

Well This truly saddens me, I really hope that Raph sees the light on this issue. Fine I agree with him on some points about the balance and what people have decided is balanced etc (Read the whole post if you dont know what im talking about) BUT I'm sorry, you cant give up on a class just because.
I'm sorry but this has really disheartened myself and even though I love TK to bits, I know that I am going to have pick up my rifle again, because it looks like the devs cant do anything for us as the high management have decided this is the way its going to be.
A disheartened TKA novice.

**edit**??!!??
Well now we know why there has not been a developer response. Chief designer himself basically says melee classes are made tosuck.
