Thread: Unarmed Lunge 2 vs. Kncodown it's way better, in every respect

Hi there,

I'm a master brawler - how many TKs are ?

I'd like to report that unarmed lunge 2 includes a knockdown (intead of seeing a target drop to their knees then go prone, they are just knocked on their ass, just like knockdown) only the effect of it last longer in my opinion.

I'd also like to report that this effect works on every kind of mob, and so far (SO FAR, this is not meant to be conclusive) it is not resisted nearly as often as knockdown1.

I'd finally like to report that it costs less HAM to use than knockdown.

I know, I know many of you are not master brawlers or don't want to become master brawlers, but I just watned to give this information to you for anyone who might not have realized these benefits existed. I'm not posting this as an excuse for HAM costs, I just thought it might be useful info.

Also, I'd like to mention that while unarmed lunge 1 + dizzy doesn't seem to work on non-humanoids, it is the most effective combo I've ever seen on humaniods. Once they fall down, there's a good change they'll keep falling down while they are trying to get up -- in fact this happens most of the time I use it. Once they fall down, they don't get up for sometimes three times as long as any other method. Just for anyone who has overlooked that combo.

I'm not seriously trying to figure out whether I want to go TK master and Doctor for my own stat buffing ability and huge heals, or if I want to stop and master medic and keep master brawler for lunge2... I don't know what I'll do.

Last thing: I've been able to execute moves on the rung tonight... at least that's what it seems like to me... I tried to do an unarmed hit while running behind a mob and I hit him... anyone else noticed any changes in this area?

Thanks,
Laur

MB here...have been testing out KDs with lunge 1. Getting pretty good success with KD2 and lunge1. Looks like KD2 and KD1 have the same HAMage as eachother, so if you got the second one, use it in compilation with lunge1...have yet to go lunge2 and am about to try it out...

Tested and confirmed...lunge2, tho not as effective as pre KDs w/o vks in terms of HAM conservation was pretty **edit** nice compared to the other knockdowns...

Someone confirm this for me...

For the THIRD time tonight, while running after a mob, I hit them. I had not been able to do this before.. is it fixed/changed/different after the patch?

Okay, I am a master brawler myself, and have always used unarmedlunge2 to catch fleeing/kiting mobs as it excels at this. However, it does no damage. Haven't checked the ham costs but I assume they haven't been nerfed so are still negligible compared to the post-patch kd1/kd2.

SERIOUSLY though, think for one moment. Why should a master brawler now have a knockdown MUCH better to use than a master tk?

SOE will either have to nerfunarmedlunge2 to make it use even more ham to balance the equation, or fix tk knockdown ham costs.

I mean seriously, this is getting ludicrous. Selwynn, I know you're trying to help folks find ways to keep playing, but using moves out of the brawler tree should not be something a master tka should have to do =(

Reducing Master TKs to using novice level brawler skills like unarmedlunge1, and even master brawler skills like unarmedlunge2 because they are more ham efficient is a major slap in the face for a so-called 'elite' class.

It'd be like forcing bounty hunters to go back to using their novice/master level marksman attacks. Imagine how they'd scream if the marksman skills cost less ham for basically the same effect as their advanced skills?

Oh and the reason I used unarmedlunge2 for many many many boxes of tk on the way to mastery was it never failed to work on the run. Nothing has changed, it always worked this way. Same with unarmedlunge1. Ihave always been able to get that off on the run.

I didn't really watch for damage, but I'm sure you're right, it does no damange. But that doesn't matter to me. I don't need it to do damange, I need it to be cheap(est) on the HAM and keep something on the ground! That's it.

I agree on that sentiment, a TKA should not have to resort to this kind of stuff...*sigh*

I'm not disagreeing with you, friend (well, I'm not agreeing with you either - I have no opinion on that). But, this still might be a godsend to many people. I know when I started TK I wanted to be master brawler becuse that's how I felt my TK would really be complete. Now you might feel different and that's your right for sure. If SoE changes HAM costs downward I will not be upset! But if they don't I'll use lunge 2, and if they change that, I'll drop brawler and go into the doctor line for stat buffing, and if they change that, I'll invest in food, and if they change that, then I'll think of something else -- as long as the game stays fun. When it stops being for for me, I'll quit.

A lot of you sound like it's stopped being fun for you, which I'm sorry for - but why stick around?

Because we have hopes of pressuring soe into reversing this silly change and salvaging our profession, and your posts, sadly, undermine these efforts as other posters have pointed out.

All it takes is one misguided person claming to be a tk master saying that "everything is fine, this patch is wonderful" and they will disregard the majority. At least you admit you are 5 boxes in. 5 boxes into TK I did not 'need' knockdown either to keep the exp rolling in.

Seriously, your heart is in the right place but your mind is elsewhere. You are doing more harm than good with your posts full of inaccurate misleading information. I don't think you realize your information is wrong and harmful but you keep posting it anyway. You are totally offbase in saying your ham only drops 80 points for a knockdown, that's simply impossible unless you have substats of oh 10,000 points each.

And gleefully pointing out that master tka's can go back and pick up master brawler if they want to enjoy the same kind of knockdown power. Again, I know you're trying to help, but god, not everyone wants to waste 48 points of skill on a novice profession to get a pale version of an attack they had pre-patch.

You have this misguided notion that we are wanting to be uber, but christ, the reality is we just want to be viable again! Master TK was a joke in pvp and only good vs single knockdownable mobs prior to this patch, and now we are just a joke, plain and simple.

Lots of the posters here are trying their best to make valid arguments and point out just how damaged this patch has made us as a profession, and here you come, saying all is well. There's nothing wrong, I can still get exp, you guys must allllll be stupid. I'd swear you were trolling deliberately but you actually seem sincere in your efforts to make folks think that nothing is wrong!

Please, quit saying "if they reduce the ham costs I'll take it gladly as it will make me uber". It's BS and if you actually knew what you were talking about, you'd realize it.
