I am a TK-CM and as I get more and more into PvPing I realize that many many people have meditate as a skill regardless of profession. Pistoleers, Carabine, sword, polearm, you mention it have meditate. Its not that I dont want to share the skill with other Non-tk professions but why should they use it? They are not TK and it is a TK ability. I think that this should be limited to unarmed people only, they could even make it in such a way that you have to take your weapon off in order to do it or something.
I aso see people getting Defensive Aquity from the TK proffesion. I dont know if it is usefull for other professions but I see it all the time people that have a Master Fenser - TK4004, or M pistol TK 4004.... what is the deal? TK should be an elite proffesion not a profession that is used to power up another proffesion....
what do you think?

It's called stacking. You take defenses aand/or skills from a number of different professions in order to create a "template" which is good for PvP or PvE or whatever it is you want to do.
It's quite common, not only in SWG, but in pretty much every MMORPG, and in this game specifically it applies to many professions, although I would have to say that meditate is probably the most shared ability.
I don't have a problem with it. Since everyone is free to do it, I don't think it's wrong. If you are interested in roleplay, that's all well and good, but not everyone is. Maybe in the combat rebalance, wound healing will be moved to TKM, and make it less shared, who knows? In the meantime......oh well.

i too am a TKA / CM
at the moment i am 4143 TKA / 4004 CM
to some combat medics, i may be a dabbler, only taking the two "best" or "most useful" trees in Combat Medic...but i removed skills to get to 4004. i was a master CM for quite a while, and with more than one character.
i have no problem with people seeing an advantage to being able to meditate off wounds and DOTs, they are spendng skill points just as we are. skill points that will not be spent elsewhere.
IF and when i change my professions template, i will likely keep the meditate line from TKA, it is just FAR too useful a set of skills to drop.
what i personally do NOT like is people who complain about the 'grind' from unarmed I through TK Novice...people who have no intention of becoming a TKM, but just want skills from the profession. if you are just going to pick an choose without mastering the profession, don't complain about how you get to where you are going. i don't know why but it reminds me of people who complain about the state of the country, but never vote...>:-(

I've heard this argument from someTKMs before andI will respond as before. TK is an elite profession, indeed. One of the stengths of this game is that a person can take attributes and skills from different areas to build a unique/hybrid template. TK meditation is a strong skill and a benefit to anyone. Why wouldn't anyone want it and why shouldn't anyone be able to have it if they are willing to level up through the skill boxes. I don't think anyone should have an issue with this. This is the way the character building is designed. I for one, applaud it and i don't think it "cheapens" the TKM profession at all. If anything, it pays homage to it, because you have such a coveted skill.

You people sound like those on the other board I hang around on. In my other profession, MBH, on a another server, there are those that are quite resentful of TKMs who go up to Investigation 3 so that they may gain the ability to hunt jedi.
To me though, it's what a person chooses to do with their template. Calls to move meditate to TKM sound similiar to calls to move the jedi hunting ability to MBH. I don't think either move would be wise.

100% wrong.
They are TKAs. You can't use meditate without being a TKA. They may not be masters, they may not run around using unarmed attacks exclusively, but they are Teras Kasi artists. You are *not* sharing it with a non-TK profession, you are sharing it with a fellow TKA.
By only learning a portion of the Teras Kasi arts, they only benefit from a small part of the abilities. They do not get the toughness when using a pistol, they can't use our special attacks when wielding a sword. In fact, they also don't meditate as well if they are not masters of TK. So don't feel cheated, if you are dedicated to the skills you will be better than them at them.
I'm not a dedicated pistoleer. I'm not a master fencer. I don't use a stun baton when I fight people, I don't get to use a DE-10, I rarely use any attacks other than my TKA abilities. But I'm a fencer and I'm a pistoleer none the less, and that is why I benefit from those professions as well as my Teras Kasi.
One of the greatest strengths of this game is the ability to create your own template, to pick and choose your skills to become whatever you want. Don't sneer at that, embrace it and enjoy it.

I agree that it's everyone's choice how they want to work their template. Yes, I'm a TKM but I'm not at all resentful to people who just go up the meditation line. They are still TK's. They are TK Mystics, actually. It's the same reason other people take Novice Medic or even Novice Entertainer to heal themselves. Or why some people may dabble in Scout so they can harvest, or dabble in Merchant so they can have a vendor. I have 3 masteries. The only skill I dabble in is musician. I have 3 boxes in the knowledge line just so I can play some cool songs and instruments. It's all about what you want to do with your character. Because, remember, if someone goes all the way up unarmed in Brawler, and then all the way up Meditation in Teras Kasi, they're clearly doing that at the sacrifice of using those skill points in other areas. Everybody's lacking in something, but it's nice to have a choice to dabble in skills that you may like or enjoy. I've been TKM for a very long time, and intend to keep it for a very long time. But, should I ever decide to give it up, I think the meditation line will be the last line I drop. I wouldn't like to see it given to masters only anymore than I think you should be required to do Master Medic just to be able to heal yourself in battle.

You are given 250 skill points for a reason. Do with them what you please, what works best for you and gives you the best advantage in the game.

I'm going to say this. If meditate is the only attribute of TK that makes you fell unique, then maybe you need to look at the reason why you ever took up the profession to begin with, because it sounds like some of you are strictly into the cosmetic features of TKMand not the ART itself.
