Thread: TKA isn't really that amazing. Nerf it...why?

For starters, I'm a TKM myself. I am for RP reasons. If I wanted to wtfpwn, I'd be a rifleman. Or a swordsman. Because I've been both, and they are better.

1. TKMs aren't that great in PvE. For starters, we're kinetic only. That's a real kick in the groin. Secondly, we have AP1. So we're wtfnerfed against anything big. CAN we kill a kimo? Sure. Takes forever, but sure. CAN we kill a krayt? Sure. Takes forever, but sure. Can a NOVICE MARKSMAN do these things? Sure. Takes forever, but sure.

2. We aren't that great in PvP either. I happen to be a great PvPer and I do very well in PvP. But that's because of skill. And stacking I'd do SO much better as a rifleman. Against a fellow stacker in 90% comp, I'm literally doing 6 damage or so.

Why do we need a nerf, again? Any n00b with a brain can stand up from KD/dizzy if they don't spam /stand.

By the way, regarding the 6 PvP damage...I have a 212 damage VK and a +12 unarmed damage shirt. I also use +25 unarmed damage rakinrian burnout sauce...so I'm an above-average TKA...

you're quite right. two things need the nerf:

1. the ridiculous amount of accuracy riflemen have while running

2. armor

Eh, I like being able to solo stuff. I don't like when dewbacks pose a problem.

Do you need to have 3500 points in your health, action, and secondaries to solo a dewback?

We are amazing at mid to low end PvE, and we can tank really well against high end PvE but we can't kill it. And in PvP we are dangerous until the moment someone puts on armor with decent kinetic resists.

In other words, we have a lot of power, but it can be well protected against and countered. Basically we are balanced

The only thing I can think of that really needs to be "adjusted" for TKA as things stand at the moment, is the fact that you can master TKA very very fast. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it is out of line with the other combat professions a decent bit.

As long as you can KILL YOURSELF from using your own special attacks, YES, you do need 3500 points to solo a dewback.

Maybe after the mythical HAM Rebalance(TM) things will be different. But I'm not holding by breath - I look good IN blue, but I don't look good BLUE.

I can easily take ronto lairs (dewbacks are nothing) unbuffed with TKM, just get novice medic and a lifetime supply of Stim B's. A pikeman can't do that, they kill themselves in 3-4 hits. I killed nightsister stalkers unbuffed and unarmored as TKM, if you have a problem killing dewbacks you really should learn to use your specials and get yourself a stim B button.

Before specials came back I could survive indefinitely (until buffs ran out or I ran into an executioner/observer/...) at Fort Tusken while unarmored and with 2k buffs.

I fight unbuffed, unarmored all the time and I have no self healing skills either. Of course sometimes I do need armor and sometimes I have to have buffs, but for a lot of things I'm fine without anything at all except maybe some food.

The key is don't spam your specials and don't wear your VKs unless you need to. Use the right specials for the situation and use them in short bursts, while auto-attacking the rest of the time. We have huge amounts of toughness, so we can absorb enough damage that without buffs, and in many cases without food, we can still regen our hams slowly.

So, you perform a few specials, then auto-attack while you regen, then repeat. And you make use of things like stun, intimidate, blind, dizzy, knockdown..all the states which give you a small edge and you can handle a ton of things.

TK doesn't need nerfing, and the abillity to stand while dizzy comes from combat equalibrium, not noobness. (hard to believe a tk doesn't know this). To the origonal poster, come to flurry and make a toon w/o the combat eq, and lets see how fast you stand while dizzy.

TK is even stronger when used in the background with fencer or 2h. I prefer fencer over tk and only pull out the sword when I need blast dmg, but add tk defences to the fencer dodge rate or 2h caand you wont get hit often at all.

Well, I am a TKM and I'm probably one of the best TKMs on the server. In PVP I have no problem killing someone with 80% Kin. comp armor. It's all about the skill to execute the right move at the right time, combat tactics, foods, drinks and your other equipment needed to win. I also have a Master Bounty Hunter who is the best BH on my server. Again...you got to have skill to operate a profession beyond it' limits =). My Master BH/Master Carbineer can take out a fully buffed TKM/stacker with Advance Comp. armor while I am unbuffed. Learn to use your profession right.
