Thread: ideas for new tka weapons
How do you all in the tka community feel about being limited to doing only kinetic damage? Personally, I would like to be able to deal out different types of damage. I read a post on the fencer boards where someone made the same complaint, and cited the various forms of damage available to, say,a pistoleer from the array of different pistols.
So, I was wondering what you guys think are good ideas for new weapons with different damage types. In keeping with the whole "unarmed" deal, I thought gauntlets of some type wouldn't be bad. Perhaps they could do stun damage. Or maybe have conductors on its knuckles to do electrical damage. That may sound stupid, and I'm sure the flames will come (don't really care), but I'm just trying to get some ideas going. We can probably come up with better ideas than Holocron. There's no telling what kind of junk he's is dreaming up for new tka weapons (probably nothing at all). ![]()
Anyway, let the ideas roll! And, as this is my first post... flame on!

i want a special where you can set your hands on fire and punch... that would be awsome

A Teras Kasi is supposed to be an umarmed damage master.
If you want weapons, perhaps try a different profession.
I can see Knucklers as a weapon, but I imagine most hard core TKs
will try to avoid them.
I love my VKs(thanks Fatal-One), but spend a lot of time with them
unequipped to save on the HAM costs of the specials.
I DO think it would be neat to have things like energy attacks,
but not via weapons. Maybe something like a Chi based attack
that did energy damage instead of kinetic.

As i was reading your post i had stopped at your last paragraph and thought to myself... What if we just drop VKs, up the dmg on our fists and add different types of CHI attacks we can access by meditating.
Say we want to do an attack to someones mind. Meditate. Focus on the mind aspect. Stand up. And for the next 5 or 10 mins we are able to access moves that dmg your targets mind pool.
Say, while we are meditating we want to do mind attacks, then thats gonna open up a toolbar full of mind moves we can choose. Then when we stand up we can use those moves for 5 or 10 mins. Or if we want to do strictly health or action wounds, depending on the fight. OR even if we want moves that will affect all 3. We would sit and meditate, pick which we want and a free toolbar would fill with those types of moves for the allotted amount of time.
My 2 cents.
I agree that we should just drop weapons all together and up the damage for unarmed. Anyone remember the first final fantasy for nintendo? They had the right idea. I believe it was a monk or a karate guy or something and his weapon was a pair on num-chuks. well after a certain point in the game you had to take the numchuks off if you wanted some severe damage out of him. He was the best attacker in the game. I thought it was cool anyhow. Oh well just reminiscing.
But if we could somehow apply the same principle here, I think the game would be better off.
I have the combat theme music from FF playing in my head now!
gonna have to break out the old nintendo and play some perhaps.

Maybe add 2-3 more weapon types to TKA lines.. Kind of Like Commando Lines. Acid Rifle, Flame Thrower etc. Each line gives you weapon specific styles.
I would like to see this 3 go in with new weapons.
1) Different damage types for each weapon.
2) Styles for new weaponsthat cause wounds. ( like OnFire! for BH and Commando)
3) Styles for new weaponsthat cause bleeding.
We have enough broken/useless styles to replace.
Also, we should ask for AP2 weapon.. (Armor Piercing: Medium). Obviously it will help TKA vs. Heavy Armored targets and boost Weaponsmith's business. Armorsmiths will also benefit from this change, there will be a demand for layers to be added to armor.
Gamexholic, you hit it right on. That's why I started this thread, because we aren't very effective against enemies with high kinetic resists because we have no alternatives to kinetic damage.
