i think it really depends on what you want it for. Pve i don't think armor stacks with our melee toughness. But for pvp it's really a must. Composite if you can wear it, ubese is a great substitute.

I used to be completely against armor, but now I am finding a use for it. Especially now that knockdown doesn't mean you get incapped when using it. Its really nice if you are the tank for the party. Pets are good but it doesn't use the kind of tactics that a player is capable of using.

if you are going to pvp, then the bare minimum required armor is a helmet. you have to wear a helmet, no if's and's or but's in my opinion. there are just too many bounty hunters that just spam eyeshot over and over, so every little bit of mind protection counts

otherwise, armor is negligable imo. though, if you get buffed, no reason not to wear a full set of compo

Let me ask this, see if anyone knows. With master tka and brawler you'll get around 63% kenetic resist. I'm pretty sure animals don't get an ap rating on damage that i know of. Would armor help at all then? Say 50% chitin. Still unclear bout that in pve.

to me armor is VERY useful. have u ever ran around and see some agro NPC red con mobs shooting you for 300+ dmg? just hit ur macro and equip all that armor and the dmg is cut by ALOT giving u a chance to get the heck outa there!

on the combat aspect of it it reduces dmg by alot...i think every PVP tka should atleast wear a few pieces of composite. but it ur own opinion on wearing armor...it makes ur move cost a bit high, not too high depending on if u got more encumbrance slices on them or not. i think you should buy a set or ask a friend to borrow a set and give the armor a try. i used to be the "Melee should not wear armor" thinker....but after seeing how much dmg it can protect you from, i dont go anywhere without my set

being a tkm for quite some time now i know what im talking about...but it all comes down to the fact if you want to use it or not

Just remember, it only takes one key stroke to take off a full set of armor and one more keystroke to put it all back on... Actually, it only takes one keystroke to do both, but whatever. Heh heh.

I strongly agree that armor is a must if you don't have some serious unarmed toughness. Even then, having it for ranged attacks can help a ton, whether to close the distance for melee or to run away. Macro your armor and switching is a breeze. Generally I run around with armor on until I close within melee range (if I am working on my unarmed). Sometimes I leave the armor on and just auto-attack, or take it off if I am debuffing. I will tell you this... armor has "holes" in it under the current melee system. Many times while wearing armor you will get hits which do not get absorbed and you take full damage. I have many logs and screenshots of this. Prior to the patch, it used to happen with melee and ranged attacks (very bad thing to have happen when hit by eyeshot), however post-patch I personally have no logs of ranged attacks hitting an armor "hole," only melee. I have /bug ged it several times and if you see it happen, I recommend you /bug it also so they will fix the problem.

yea, the holes are known. Check the armorsmith's forum. It'll be fixed in a patch soon. Dunno when.

But no one answered my question. Am i right to assume our melee toughness and kenetics % from armor do not stack?

pve armour works and has always worked. Zoomed out to third person view and have a look at the -xx numbers on top of your head, you'll notice its significantly lower then the amount it saying that you got hit for (which is due to that amount being subtracted by the amount that your armour protected).

its smart to get some armor if you can use it. although our class IMO is lucky to really be able to use it, when orginaly we really couldn't

No it dosn't work, you can be hit in the eye's (not considered helmet) shirt, and belt. If you take off all non armor its ALOT better, but 1 can still sneak past it.
