Just posing a question i've asked but had to replies to. Fighting a Giant Canyon Krayt recently and it really put things im perspective for me in the way of Teras Kasi defences. I was taking a Tanking role with a Master Pistoleer as ranged. I'd be constantly Dizzied and every minute or so i'd be Knocked down.
This dosen't worry me so much because i'm fine and my buffs kept me tip top. The only thing that worries me is everytime i was KD'd the Pistoleer i was with was getting attacked by that Krayt. Come the CU ifthis profession is assigned the role of"Tank"...what are we gonna be like? How are we supposed to tank for someone or a group if we're always losing the aggro due to being knocked down?I know you may say we could always take Knockdown foods (which i should of had more of at the time) but professions such as Fencer and Swords will never have this problem.
Can anyone set me straight here?

Simply, not everyone knocks down and a small amount of time being KD can't amount to too much collateral damage

Any melee Profession can KD. Master Brawler has Lunge2 that's a KnockDown Attack. Ranged professions do get dizzy & Posture changes. Not only PVP though. What about PvE? If we're tanks getting constantly knocked onto our backs how can we tank effectively?

Come the CU they've claimed to remove stacking. So i doubt it
I'm very curious where everyone gets this idea from... I deffinatly didn't see it in the docs Blair posted...
Anyway you're trying to compere new with old & so you probably won't find any answers in your line of thought in relation to the CU so you're just going to have to wait & see.
At the moment though in the live game it's just down to picking a good template. Fencer & Pistoleer both have very high State Deffences, TK on the other hand currently are great tanks by their toughness, something that dodge(& other similar deffences)just doesn't stand up againest when it comes to high level PvE (& often PvP).

I can't speak on what is actually on the CU boards, but publically the developers NEVER said stacking was going away in the CU. NEVER. Anything else is a flat lie born of wishful thinking from folks who whine about the unfairness of stacking (which is garbage, stacking was fixed with the caps MONTHS ago).

In my opinion, you shouldnt have to be a hybrid of FENCER or PISTOLEER to be effective. I mean we are TK's, which is kind of like a martial artist. Sigh, I do hope that stacking is gone but from the post that mankind put I have a feeling it wont be. I would love to see what these hybrid fighters would be without it. I am a TKM/DOC/CM so I only have TK and with the +5 Dizzy Def(laughable) and the +20 KD def(again Laughable) I get knocked down more than a geek in 8th grade gym class. If stacking is still going on.. I wish in the CU we get to pick whatever row we want along with TK.. rather than limit us to a sucky one that we don't want. ohh well, just my thought on it

If I decide to run away and pull out a gun do I still get the unarmed toughness bonus? or just the mitigation?

The state defences of tk are low for a reason.
Its called balance for powerboost. No one profession can have everything, it simply doesnt work.
Try swapping toughness and damage output with the pistoleer and you will understand.
In answer to the tanking question, the introduction of a hate system will stop the aggro changing like it does now.
What happens in most mmorpgs is that the tank builds 'hate' with the mob as they attack it, and the use of various taunt attacks, it wont attack someone else unless they have built up more hate than the tank.
So, a few seconds on the ground wouldnt see the mob running off to ther targets.
thats the system that was in eq,and most other mmorpg's and would be fair to assume thats how it will work at a basic level in swg.

I know what you're saying. I agree if TKM has Speed, Toughness, Powerboost, Cure Wounds, High Damage and High States it would of course be overpowerd. Really though what does all of this account for without buffs?
